Lots to do and see here making it a great annual tradition. This is a fun and affordable event for the whole family. You will find lots to see and do. Horse and tractor pulls, pig races, flower and vegetable displays, pigeons, crafts, vendors, food and lizards. Plus rides for the children, music, classic cars, tractors and antique farm machinery to see. Used to be bunnies, pigs, birds, cows, goats and other farm animals. Not so many anymore because of diseases and fewer farms in this area of CT. Or maybe I missed them. The food is always good and affordable. This is an event to go to.

The place feels more like a carnival than the typical New England fair. There were a couple of highlights, including a very nice farm museum (albeit it housed awkwardly in a modern 1990s-constructed building), a small reptile exhibit and a sausage and broccoli rabe sandwich. This is not worth a visit unless there's absolutely nothing going on and you happen to be in the area.

But when your wife and kids ask you to do something, you normally do. This fair was in Ansonia.Yesterday was the last day, I'm not sure how often they do this fair, I think it's once or twice a year. Lots of activities for the kids, lots of vendors, and my favorite the food trucks. It were too. We ended up getting from the melting truck. Deliciously made grilled cheeses with lots of options. They put a nice cheese crust on top to give it a little extra flavor. They were also multiple different stage shows from magic, to fighting, to singing. Many people were dressed up as fantasy characters or in medieval garments. Others like myself or just dress to be comfortable. Either way it was a good time. Looking forward to seeing what other Renaissance Festival's are like.

You basically have to pick between hanging out with the dim-witted, mainstream types at loud, gaudily lighted "nightclubs" that are basically just high school dances with more skin and bouncers instead of chaperones or tiny, cramped, pseudo-hipstery music venues like The Space where you pay to stand around and be judged by even bigger douchebags in "Defend Pop Punk" hoodies. Where those places fail, the Amity Teen Center succeeds. They don't try to reel you in with goofy decorations that look like they came from a T.G.I Fridays managed by Tim Burton nor do they cater to the baser instincts of the young and stupid. They know their demographic and they use that knowledge to create an atmosphere that is both fun and safe. The bands that play there always bring something new and unique to the table and for those just looking for a place to get away from it all to hang with their friends and play some video games the arcade area is kept clean and orderly. The staff are more than happy to help no matter what and go out of their way to be as friendly and accommodating as possible. For them it isn't just a job, it's a second home, and that really shows in how well the place is run on a day to day basis. If you haven't checked it out yet and even if you're in the 18+ crowd I would highly recommend checking it out, especially on weekends when the stage is open to bands both local and touring from sometimes even as far away as other countries. It's definitely a place worth experiencing.

Creeperum was actually our second stop of the evening, and I wasn't feeling too optimistic. When we got there, our greeter told us that they had tried to do something different than your average haunted house. They were definitely right! No spoilers here, but I screamed a lot, and it was pretty entertaining. More engaging than the average jump out and scare you scenario typical of most haunted attractions, and some very unique bits. It only lasted 15-20 min but it was entertaining for sure. And no chainsaws! :) We went on a Sunday night and it wasn't busy - but it was still cheaper to buy the Groupon than to pay the "at the door" price. And if it's busy, the Groupon lets you skip the line. Highly recommend as one of the better haunted attractions in the area!

Get there earlier and leave early if you don't want traffic! There is multiple street sections that are FREE!! We were lucky enough to park in somebody's driveway for less parking than the venue charged but even with parking at the venue, we've only had to wait a short while for exiting. A little walk isn't that bad! It also depends on WHO is performing. The crowds will be different based on the show so keep that in mind. A Bob Marley tribute had LESS people, HALF the stadium while sublime was SOLD OUT and completely full!! Know your audience!

There was a corn maze; $11 for ages 13+, free for 3 and under. The maze was fun but crowded at some points; they had trivia questions with the Peanuts theme. There were a couple of food trucks when we went (Soulfully Vegan and New Haven Food Truck), there was a kettle corn stand, face painting, etc. we got cider from there which was good, kettle corn was amazing, and the New Haven Pizza was bomb dot com. They had a $5 ride on a train which was very cute, especially for the kids. They had a store but we didn't go in because it was too crowded and we had a stroller. The property was gorgeous and the turn out for the festival was great. There were a ton of people and parking was ample, they had people guiding us. Overall, a fun festival to kick off the fall.
