Several years ago when I left my job for a better one, I was waiting on my new insurance cards - I had all the info but did not have a physical card yet. I tried to schedule my annual skin check (multiple family members with melanoma) and was refused care. I offered to pay cash for the visit, knowing that I could submit to insurance after the fact. They treated me like garbage - rude, condescending. I had a short window of time before I returned to a very busy schedule and I wanted to get my exam in before hand. I even tried reaching out to the office manager to no avail. I am a provider myself and have learned that the front office staff is a direct reflection of the providers in the back. This was about seven years ago - for some reason they have decided to add me to their mailing list for their spa and I have asked politely three times now to please be removed. I have clicked on the unsubscribe button each time that I get their spam, but again this morning yet another ad to try to get me to come back in. Nope. read more

These people are incompetent, negligent, and lack basic medical knowledge. After a supposedly "minor" surgery I was in severe pain and disabled for 2 months. I returned to their offices in Moscow, CDA, and Post Falls 5 different times and they diagnosed and treated my problem 5 different ways, each of which were not indicated and caused harm to my body. They put me through 2 rounds of antibiotics without a single positive culture or clear evidence of infection. They gave me steroid shots and they reopened a healthily healing wound. In the end I had to solve the problem myself: they left a stitch in my body that 3 nurses, 2 NPs, and an MD all failed to recognize and diagnose. I pulled it out myself with a tweezers after 2 months of torture. Now they refuse to stop billing me for all of the unnecessary appointments that I went to only because they couldn't figure out what was wrong. NID is run in a way that is criminally incompetent and all of their offices should be shut down. read more

I agree with Johanna, definitely avoid NP Mortensen, maybe the whole place. Not only was it the least thorough of my over 20 skin cancer check ups (largely limited to taking pictures and asking me which ones I'd like her to look at rather than scanning my skin herself), the resulting charge codes were also highly questionable. This includes charging $200 of N2 icing without prior conveying price. What was said is "oh you're bleeding here from cutting your hair, shall i freeze the mold?". In summary, about 7 minutes and I don't know how many pictures resulted in a $335 bill and the request to come back in 6 month to look how things have developed. I also called billing. Sadly, their main argument was "insurance pays most", it's just $21 for you.. but this is exactly why our insurance payments go up. Together, this experience really makes me question how this place is run. read more

Cannot recommend Dr. Mortensen. She spends less than two minutes with me per appointment. Actively refuses to treat things like milia or cysts, claiming it would be easier for us both if I "just ignore it". I originally saw her for a painful, chronic facial rash. She repeatedly refused patch tests or a biopsy. As a result, I was misdiagnosed and suffered unnecessarily for a couple of years. Her treatments eventually made my condition spread and become much worse before she realized her error, but blamed me for the misdiagnosis rather than her refusal to test or biopsy, since my symptoms didn't "present" as the correct condition. Recently began refusing to write prescriptions for any creams if they already sell a version at their spa. At my last appointment, she insisted I buy a cream from her and was adamant that it would not be covered by insurance and that it was not available OTC anywhere, at any strength. When I asked her to submit a prescription to my insurance anyway, she refused. I did not have any extra funds at the time having lost my employment during the early pandemic, but a quick internet search while she went to double-check the "really affordable" price led me to the same product at a slightly lower strength available at a local pharmacy for just $7. The version she wanted me to buy was $80 (slightly less volume and only a slightly greater strength). I said I would be more comfortable spending less on the weaker version first, to make sure my skin would react well to it. After all, my face had just been through the wringer from the misdiagnosis and was still healing. I said that if I knew my face wouldn't react poorly, I would be more comfortable purchasing her more expensive version later. I thought this was reasonable, but she was very condescending about this decision and insisted I was going to make my condition worse if I used a weaker strength and argued that the $80 was very cheap for this product. She spent more time trying to pressure me into buying this cream than she ever spent listening to me about my concerns during any of our appointments combined. I realized I was a customer to her, not a patient, and have not returned since. For the record, the weaker cream worked great, my years-long rash finally cleared up, and I saved $73. The next time I need to see a dermatologist, I am asking my doctor for a referral to someone else. I did not feel cared for at NID. read more

for CDA office. Beautiful building and great parking. The receptionist was the worst I have ever dealt with. I had to wait 10 minutes for her to arrive. Then when I was called I gave my driver's license and said I had my insurance on my app so I pulled it up and emailed it to the receptionist. I continued to get reprimanded for about 30 minutes by her. She acted like I was lying and couldnt handle the digital card even though it had the exact information of the regular card, which I never received from my insurance. I have never had an issue with a digital card. Its 2022, almost 2023, this is pretty easy to understand. I almost walked out during "check in" or get reminded i needed an insurance card at least 12 times during that process. Blonde older lady near the front door should not be working with the public. My dermatologist was fantastic and the other medical staff were top notch and had lots of great information and were thorough. read more
