And when I went back it was 14 days later to have the stitches removed the whole office and his whole practice was shut down. If you need to see a dermatologist, don't go here because they don't have one. I canceled 2 appts prior to the one I attended, and at no time was I informed that there was no dermatologist at this location. I saw I nurse practitioner. I was not advised prior to any of the appointments I made. I chose this location/Dr because he was supposed to be a specialist in what I was going for. I was not informed until I had paid my copay that the nurse practitioner would be in. I was in shock. This was no specialist. This dumb bitch could only give me a medication I had received previously that did not work. An FYI- at this practice, you will not be allowed to see the actual Dr until you need something surgical done. They need to be shut down. I will not be going back. My wife and I have been going for years for checkups and minor things . After having a mass removed from my arm attached is the scar I'm left with. They scheduled me 3 weeks after the procedure and had to dig out my stitches. I have a high tolerance for pain but I was turning white, after many failed attempts then I was giving a local anesthetic. A chop shop in my opinion. If I could give it zero stars I would. I went in for a procedure in December. I paid my copay and the insurance company paid the balance. I went in for a follow up a month later, sat on the table, she looked at the tiny scar and said ok, you're good - NOT MORE THAN 5 MINUTES, she closed my file and walked me out....not to the receptionist to pay my copay so naturally (as with 99% of the doctors in the world) I did not think I had to pay my copay again. Thought I was done. A week later received bill in the mail for another co-pay. I called them to ask why, their billing department researched my questions and came back a few days later and said yep, you were billed for a full visit. I then called my insurance company and I was told that this location and doctor (Mallardi) does not have a follow up visit schedule. She will bill any follow up as a regular visit, hence a copay each time. Had I been told this during my initial visit, it would have been no problem but omitting this even at my follow up to me is dishonest. I will not use this company or doctor again. The staff is polite, Dr. Handler is great but unless you are prepared to literally spend the day there - do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Yesterday we waited 2 hours and fifteen minutes beyond our appointment time - the scheduler needs to be fired. This is not the first unacceptable wait time I have had there but it is the last. Everyone is aware of the problem but claims "management" does not care. Even when I got in to see the doctor they started having me sign blank papers about surgical procedures!!!! I was there for acne treatment. I guess I saw a PA because she didn't know what to do and started talking about an injection in my face for something! Of course I refused! Bottom line is they try to scam you when ever possible. They charged me extra money at my appointment and never even told me before hand it would cost extra. When I asked the girl at the front desk said, "yeah well this is me telling you now". When I arrived there were already 5 people in waiting room. I still waited 40 minutes. There is no social distancing. The chairs in the waiting room are arm to arm...no space between and given the number of people waiting there is no opportunity to stay 6 feet apart. I went to the Rockaway location today, I was not satisfied. The doctor? (I think) came in looked at me, popped some things. When I asked what can I do to improve this, I was told sunscreen. She rushed this appt so much, I didn't get any questions answered. I have no idea what the doctors? Name was. I had some acid put on my face and told to wash it off in 10 minutes. Ok I live 25 minutes from the office. I was told to use their bathroom, ok I went in there no face soap just hand soap and the icing on the cake was there was pee in a cup on top of the toilet!! I have been coming here for about a year. Absolutely love Debra. However the office needs to improve on managing the appointments better. It gets worse and worse during every visit. My appointment was for 4:00. They walked me into the room to see the Dr. at 4:15. At 4:55 no one showed up to the room. They had me waiting for an hour. I finally left and rescheduled my appointment. While my daughter was going to the Rockaway and Parsippany office a staff member was fired causing the Parsippany office to have hours outside of that which was indicated. The office closed all different hours from week to week. During one of my visits to the Rockaway location, the staff was nasty to each other. I asked for a space to change my 7 monyh old and the doctor continued to come in the room, rushing me, because my daughtet was her last appointment, stripping my daughter of her dignity while her bottom hung out for all passing as she continued rushing me talking to my back with the door open. She told me during my scheduled visit that her children had practice and she had to go. She stated she spent more time with me then she normally would 10 mins into my appointment. She was very demeaning and rushed. Another staff member Yolie told me it's my fault because I reschedule my appointment too many times. When I explained my mother was just diagnosed with Cancer there was no apology for the misjudgment and inappropriateness. When I contacted the owner, after given the number from the office manager, who was, in fact the only professional, he put me on hold several times during the phone conversation and was very dismissive thereafter about my concerns. RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! I would not normally write reviews as they are time consuming and I am easy going but the treatment my 7 month old and I received here was horrible. read more

I absolute love this office. I have been seeing Debra and Cindy since I can remember- probably dating back to 2008- at least. Debra does GREAT work for acne and is very attentive to detail and always makes sure I have all my prescriptions filled. Cindy is also phenomenal. She is so kind and great at explaining things. Melanoma runs in my family and whenever I have any concerns they give same day appointments and remove questionable moles. Would highly recommend the Rockaway office! read more

As a medical professional myself, I was less than impressed. Upon arrival at the Toms River office, I was not greeted. In fact, I got to hear some front office gossip before I was spoken to and given new patient paperwork. After waiting 45-50 minutes or so I was called back to the exam room, where I noticed used scalpel blades lying on the floor upon other unsanitary things. I was sliced and diced within a matter of seconds and the PA went onto the next. I had to wait 6 weeks for a 'biopsy approval' to be seen at this particular appointment, which is a bit ridiculous, and in that time my insurance had expired. Front office did not bother to check if my insurance was valid, so I got sent a $500 bill and the billing office was not willing to work with me. As a customer service friendly medical professional, when a patient is in a situation that is financially difficult, we work with them, that's the right thing to do. If there was a zero star option I would take it. This place is a disgrace, not a real business practice. I will be filing a complaint to the better business bureau for mistreatment of their staff which results in poor service to their clients. Joseph Masessa seems like he doesn't know how to be a boss either, and each time I came to his office he was yelling at me or the staff and making the patients feel very uncomfortable. Some of the patients told me that they will never come back to this dermatology center again... On top of that the staff seems to be changing all the time, I doubt any of them stay for very long. We didn't even get proper lunches, ranging from 3 min to 10 min most of the time. All of this information will be sent to the bbb. I am currently talking to some lawyers and other ex-employees about a class action lawsuit for their poor business practice. Also I never heard of anybody ever getting a bonus or a raise. If they did, I never got one in my 3 years there. read more
