They are very enthusiastic and where you make a right turn to go into the road that leads into this hiking trail. That is if they still set up at the same spot, haha! Skagit Riverwalk Trail is a walking trail extending south of, through, and north of Downtown Mount…read moreVernon. For the most part the trail is paved. A stretch north of Mount Vernon Lions Club Roadside Park extending to the North Lions Park I found to be a dirt/gravel pathway. The trail runs alongside the Skagit River and has a guard rail between the trail and the river with occasional signs/placards in the railing providing context and background about the river and area. Trees and tulips speckle the walkway near downtown. Occasional signage provides arrows to nearby locations. A number of parks, businesses, and the Skagit River Jam Memorial are located along the trail. I have walked the trail a few times now exploring both north and south and checking out the different parks and memorial. Traffic each time has been pretty light, typically I come mid-afternoon, and occasionally there are birds out on the water of the river or in the vegetation between the river and the guard rail. All around an enjoyable place to come walk and take in the beauty and harmony of nature and Mount Vernon.

I would not recommend eating at the picnic tables, that is now where the diapers get changed! That being said it is a beautiful park. The playground is well maintained and up to date. It has a saw dust base, small plastic rock wall to climb up, latters, log roll, slides, swings etc. All next to the Skagit Play Fields.

This dog park has so much potential but like so many other things, the humans ruin it. So many neglectful and ignorant dog owners. I've been coming here off and on for quite a few years and I'd say about 75% of the dog owners either ignore their dogs, or don't know how to distinguish between dog signals for play, nervousness, and aggression. I've seen people yell at their own and other's dogs for barking while they're playing, completely ignoring their play bows, wagging tails, left sided ear flicks and eye winks, zoomies, and frequent changes in play styles. No hackles raised anywhere. All of these are meta signals that play is happening, and that the growl or bark is essentially trash talking. I've seen people force their dogs to interact with other dogs when they are shaking and hiding between the owner's legs. I've seen people let their dogs h*mp other dogs even though the other dog is snarling and trying to get away. I've seen people crowd together talking so then the dogs crowd together and get nervous because they don't know the other dogs and humans well enough to trust them and then a dog fight ensues. I've seen people bring their takeout and try to eat at the table and then seem surprised that the dogs are interested. I've also seen dogs jump on that table and pee on it. I saw one guy threaten to shoot someone's dog because he didn't like how it played with his dog (no dogs were harmed) and then wait in the parking lot for that dog and their owner. I stayed with the other dog owner until that guy left. I've essentially stopped taking my dog here because of all these things. Bummer because it's a nice park and it's very close. My 8 year old dog with cancer would love to play with some dog friends with the time she has left, but it's not going to happen here anymore. Is there a friends of Bakerview Dog Park group? Would love to see some signs with QR codes or URL's that link to videos on dog play behaviors. If people are going to stare at their phones instead of observing their dogs anyways, they might as well learn something about how to be a responsible dog owner.

There is only 1 common gated area for the dogs to play, big and small. The ground is covered with either wood chips or grass. There has been a shade and a tree or two added to the doggie area. There are plastic chairs and a few dog toys that other owners have brought as well. A doggie bag dispenser is located at the entrance way as well. There are baseball and soccer field as well as a basketball court. A play structure for kids, 3 slides and 4 swings. A skate park for older kids. There are a few picnic tables and a public restrooms. Kulshan trail goes through the park.

This is frustrating as a tax paying member of the community. I understand that the high school likes to use this park to play and that as a player it would be annoying to find dog waste on the field. HOWEVER, I don't think that banning dogs from the softball field is the answer. All members of the community should be able to use the park as they see fit. Especially considering this is a public park - not owned by Mount Vernon High School.

Skip the mega crowds, lines, and parking lot chaos with Garden Rosalyn. It's smaller and lesser known, but that's exactly why we loved it! Bonus points: it's super dog friendly! Your furry family has to stay leashed, but the staff is totally chill about your pup tagging along for a flower-filled stroll and even walking through the tulips! This garden isn't about massive fields as far as the eye can see instead its into artsy vibes, with tulips planted in fun designs and patterns. Since we went near the end of the season, some patches had called it quits for the year, but plenty of blooms were still going strong and looking fabulous. There's also a cozy little food stand in the back dishing out street food and drinks, plus random seating spots sprinkled throughout the garden. Perfect for grabbing a snack or break and soaking in the colors surrounding you. The geese here are a whole thing. Like tulip garden security pigeons with attitude. Get too close and they will quack endlessly at you. All in all, if you have the time, it's totally worth the stop especially if you're rolling with doggie buddies. Has a porta potty but it has not been kept clean I would rather do my business in the bushes. The first part of the hike is steep uphill switchbacks before you get to the actual loop around the lake. Then it is mostly flat and easy and has a couple benches to stop at. Has some other trails that branch off, but there are signposts to tell you where to go. Nice dog friendly hike.

If I'd of known better, I would've went to their farm instead. The farm should delay their opening if the customers aren't getting what is being advertised. Also sectioning out a few rows so that can be picked so that customers can have an immersive experience would be my recommendation. I have yet to go to a tulip festival where you can't pick. That's all. And I'm not trying to dig at this particular farm, but my personal experience was not the best and would hate for anyone else to have to go through that.
