I had just gotten off a flight with both of my phones dead and no way to contact the friends I was supposed to meet. Somehow, I ended up here, and these guys treated me with nothing but respect. They fed me, let me charge my phone, and genuinely looked out for me when most people would have turned me away. As an American traveling abroad, that kindness meant a lot. I'm not sure what possessed me to go to Kilburn, but once I make a suggestion to my brother he basically gets his heart set on it and it is practically impossible to change it, even though we had to make change stations to catch a train there. Anyway, since it was midday it was time to have lunch, and this pub was conventient, and empty, so we decided to eat here. Once again not a huge choice on the menu, but my brother did have his sausages, and I did have a hamburger. The pub itself was okay, nothing fantastic, but okay nonetheless. Not worth travelling to Kilburn for a meal here though. read more

The NLT (as we call) it is suitable for every occasion: walking by and fancy a pint - check, want a place to bring the kids who can be a bit loud for an early dinner - check, looking for date night chill place - check, the list can go on. The GM strives for excellence whilst maintaining a very friendly and local vibe. The food is really great and they have a diverse menu - my fav starter is the ham and chicken terrine at £9 (good portion) ... great value and absolutely scrumptious. Fat chips are also a must. The Tavern is probably the only choice you have so close to the tube station in Kilburn that is worth coming for a pint or two. But I went there for Sunday roast and although I was not disappointed with the food, the service and the pricing could be better. Especially that we are not in central London anymore. It took quite a while for the waitress to notice me although I was sitting at the bar next to the cash register and tap which she was frequently at. She handed me the menu, took the food order and the last thing she ask for was if I wanted something to drink. As if she couldn't ask it a while a go, even before I started gazing at the menu. But the food was alright. I went with the beef roast option which was tasty. The sides are also quite good, lots of vegetables, broccolis etc. So overall it is a nice place to come and eat, but obviously not a cheap one. read more

I come here all the time. It is one of my favourite locals.... The NLT plays awesome music (but not too loud that you can't have a conversation) has lots of seating (including slouchy old leather couches) and also has a really good restaurant that serves yummy food, such as steak and lamb shank (the menu changes either every night or every week methinks). The pub itself really reminds me of the Lock Tavern in Camden, all dark and wooden, but without the pretentious scenesters and with a more varied age-range. I generally like the young, 30something, stylish professionals that frequent the NLT! There is also a really nice big upstairs room with its own bar, that can be hired out for parties etc. Even though it's right on Kilburn High Road, it's quite nice sitting on the benches outside on a nice afternoon in the summer. Plus if you get restless, there are lots of other nice pubs within a 5 minute stretch of walking distance that you can move along to. I would recommend the Tav as a starting point for the evening, before moving on to The Good Ship (3 mins walk away)! read more

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and fell in love with the decor - ceiling windows, wood panelling, marble bar, huge fireplaces. Lots of light, friendly staff, not too crowded, separate dining room - the list of pluses goes on. Then there's the food - a fantastic selection, a filling Caesar salad and crispy (yet light) sea bass for us, and pints in proper pint pots! I don't stop by this way, er, ever... but if i did, this would be a regular fave. read more

I really enjoy the style of the Tavern-it has an authentic old London town boozer feel with an edge of sophistication. The wooden floorboards and aged furniture give it the genuine pub feel whilst at the same time being clean and welcoming to people of every age (obviously those old enough to enjoy an alcoholic beverage!). You'll find young trendies in there alongside the old regulars. It always gets busy with the locals which is a great sign and the drinks are fairly reasonable for London-just what you would expect really-I recommend a pint of the Hopback Summer Lightning which is around the 3 quid mark. They have benches outside to create a comfortable smoking area as well. I always enjoy having a relaxing pint in this pub and the food is consistently good. read more

This pub is probably one of the best addresses in Kilburn High Road. I wouldn't come especially here for it but while hanging around in the area and looking for a nice place to chill this is a good address. Price are quite expensive for the area (we are not anymore in downtown London !) and both food and drinks cost the same as if you are in Soho but the atmosphere is nice, old furniture, huge and confortable sofa, the perfect idea you have for a pub ! They do sunday road lunch and a couple of time they have live music or some other special evening to keep the regular busy ! read more

I came here after having a very tough day. We sat outside, drank an awful lot of beer and that was fine. There was nothing out of the ordinary about the pub itself. Usual beers, usual drinks and possibly pub food but I don't remember. That said it was nice to be able to sit outside a pub, but I'm not sure I'd make a point of coming here. Quite a good gastro option for the Kilburn area, but nothing super-surprising. I went here for a late-night drink recently and thought it was a nice but normal pub, usual beers and prices. The dining room / restaurant in the back looked nice and I've heard from friends the food is nice, but I haven't tried it yet. The only drawback of this refurbished pub is that it's right on the main road and the only outdoor area are tables and benches on this road. It can be super noisy, but good if you're already drunk and shouting! If you can handle a 10 minute walk for a beer then my vote goes instead to the Lion pub on West End Lane in West Hampstead, it has a nice back garden as well as all the usuals. read more

We stopped in to the North London Tavern for a quick Sunday lunch before heading off to Wembley Stadium to see the Race of Champions so I didn't have much time to absorb the true atmosphere. It seemed like a beautiful pub though with high ceilings, warm dark wood everywhere and comfortable seats. One of my co-diners complained that she could feel the vibration from the nearby train but I didn't really notice it that much. As we got there on opening for Sunday the staff were still getting their instructions from the manager. However they didn't mind us placing our food orders though they didn't seem to know very well how to put them through the registers! Staff were very friendly and they even kept us in the loop with the progress on our Sunday dinners (because they knew we had limited time to eat.) A cool pub, and part of the ongoing gentrification of Kilburn. A good meeting place, close to the train and tube stations. It's got lots of bar space due to a wraparound bar. It also has a good mix of sofas, stools, tables, and benches to accommodate all sorts of groups. It's got both bar snacks - nuts, jelly beans, crisps, and a gastro-looking skylit dining room. It had a real mix of people when I was recently here, as it's got elements of both old pub and funky new meeting place. There's old dark wood but it's not too overdone. It is a bit pricey: Flowers IPA, normally a very cheap pint, goes for £3.50! That's the price of gentrification, I guess. read more

the pub itself is great and a good meeting place in Kilburn. Good mix of people from old school Kilburn locals to younger trendies. They need a new sound system though as the music was muffled. Bar staff are nice but a bit slow. One minute there are three bartenders behind the bar, the next minute one and can get backed up. Has some tables outside which is nice for us smokers. The restaurant serves some good grub as well. A bit pricey but worth it. read more

With a wide range of whiskies and wine, and beer being well represented, the North London Tavern is a popular place for the start of a night and its conclusion. Often crowded between 7-9 and then 12-2, revellers tend to start here and then rejoin the older crowd as their night is ending. The food is good, but expensive, and the restaurant section is one of the largest of the Kilburn High Road pubs. The service isn't too shabby either. It feels full, but you have your own space. Long bar means you get served quickly and it feels like there is a bustle in the streets around you. I came to Kilburn to grab a drink with a friend and we stumbled upon this pub. It's conveniently located right by the tube station and had lots of availability. The service was friendly and the drinks were very reasonably priced. The menu did look very tempting, but unfortunately, we only stayed for one drink and didn't indulge. The pub is nicely decorated: classy yet warm and friendly with a casual crowd. I would absolutely come here again, especially for a pint or some wine. They do offer spirits but don't serve cocktails, which was a bit of a disappointment. However, unlike other bars in the area, they are open on Mondays, which is a plus. read more

I live near this pub, which officially make it my local. Its a very unique pub and I see alot of people go in and out, I myself took some time to get used to the area, but one day decided to pay a visit and I first I thought it would be lame, because the people I see go in this pub are very unique. But after a few years I have made friends at this pub and go there atleast once a week. Only downfall about the pub would be the fact that they are always changing staff. But besides that, its lovely! And now they have a club upstairs, which is cool. read more

This place was our saving grace when we got out of Heathrow around 9:30 and we're starving. They had a great menu and I ended up getting their chicken sandwich which was fantastic. Trendy pub that was revamped a couple of years ago to attract the twenties to thirties. Has a polished, traditional look lots of old wood and leather sofas. Theres a small restaurant area at the back with pretty good food. It can get really busy in the friday/saturday night slots - if you don't mind standing though, it has a good buzz. read more

This is my local pub and I think it's great. It's got a buzzy vibe with a real eclectic mix of people, from trendy 20-30 somethings to writer types through to hard core boozers. Absolutely loved it! I had the lamb, very tasty and highly recommend the mint sauce (not mint jelly!). My wife had the baked chicken which was enough food for 2. My boys shared a burger which was a little different, not too sure about that cheese spread. In laws had fish and chips which were terrific! Having gone through quite a bit to get to the North London Tavern, I was hoping the trek would be worth it! From the outside it looked like a local tavern with some visual interestand and stepping inside yielded a surprisingly large interior with a nice mix of old and new. The place was crowded and had a nice, friendly vibe. Even more importantly, the food was really good! A starter of goat cheese and olive paste set the tone and when the aged rib eye and chips came out I was pleased with the appropriate size of the meal (not too big and not too small, juuuust right). And the taste didn't disappoint either. The delicately placed squiggle of béchamel added to the perfectly done steak and left me wanting more. As we ordered dessert and coffee, I was fearful that the tremendous experience would come to an end, but I was shocked by the cappuccino and crème brulee-- both were above average in taste and texture (respectively!) It's much the same vibe after the slight refurb recently, the pub is still a nice atmosphere, the restaurant side is still pretty average despite the new menu which includes the concept of 'chop and glass' i.e. a meat chop and a glass of beer or wine. Unfortunately we caught the chef on a bad night, a table complained food was late and the table next to ours sent the food back for some reason. My food was next and I could feel the wrath and frustration of the chef shaking a tonne of salt on my chips and leaving his stressed angry hand prints on my burger bun. No, I didn't risk sending my food back!! Unfortunately the food wasn't saved by the service either, very poor front of house management and training. Two manager types standing around not doing much, two juniors fighting over tables, forgetting if we had ordered or not and not knowing what drinks they had brought us. So it sounds like a poor review, and yes the restaurant side is poor, deserving of 1 or 2 stars even with the revamp so stick to the pub which I always enjoy, 4 stars for the pub. If it was me I wouldn't seperate the pub and restaurant areas, the pub is always full and the restaurant not so. read more

My boyfriend and I love going in here for a pint as its near to his house, however, we ate here recently- and were excited to see the recent refurb- but the food and service were absolutely appalling. The staff were incredibly inattentive- we had to leave our table two or three times to get their attention for being served/ordering more drinks/getting the bill... despite them only having a couple of groups in for food! The vegetarian option (I think there was only one, which was very disappointing) was a pitiful excuse for a meal- a leek crumble, which was way too crumble-heavy and very dry. Bizarrely this came with a side of (also dry) roasted cauliflower- I haven't had a more dissatisfying meal in a long while and its price wasn't cheap! Won't go again. read more
