The man who manages this dry cleaner is the rudest person on the planet. I brought in a very nice $1,200 Fortuny tablecloth for cleaning. It had some blueberry juice stains that had been sitting for a while, and in all honesty, I did not expect them to come out. I was mostly looking for the tablecloth to be pressed. Well, not only was it not pressed, it had also lost its shimmery quality entirely. When I asked why it looked so different and was still so wrinkled, the man immediately became confrontational. "I told you it was going to be hard," he said. I told him I understood that removing the stains would be hard. That's not the same as ruining the fabric and failing to press it. He began arguing about what he had and hadn't promised, then took it to the back to try to get the wrinkles out. He tried for about twenty seconds, came back, and said he couldn't do it. He became so agitated and angry that it made me genuinely uncomfortable. As I walked toward the door with my tablecloth, he said under his breath, "Get out." I turned right around and went back in. I asked if he really just said "get out" to me. A customer for years. Someone who was disappointed but understanding that there are limitations to the service he can provide. His terrible attitude made the whole situation worse. Not only will I never go back, I advise everyone to avoid this place. This man is plain mean, rude, and ugly-spirited. It's unfortunate that he is so miserable doing what he does that he doesn't even care about losing customers. North Main Street Cleaners is not a community oriented business, they do not care about you or their work. Avoid it at all cost. The dry cleaner at King Kullen at Bridgehampton is great. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If I could give this place zero stars I would. They are incredibly rude- particularly to women - and do very shoddy work (they have ruined several shirts and dresses of mine). They also have the audacity to *refuse* service if the owner (who always seems to be the only person there) decides your order is too complicated...or not worth the hassle. Or maybe he just doesn't like you for some reason. It's the singularly worst cleaner I've ever used, anywhere - including the Hamptons, where I have lived for years. Do not use them. They have a monopoly on the area and are horrible rude and expensive. They ruined several shirts with starch stains that will not come out and ripped a shirt. My wife's dresses needed to be repressed. When I complained about, the man at the desk was rude and nasty. Told us we were looking for a discount. read more

This was my GO TO dry cleaner for many years. The local company that owned it were so pleasant. Always a pleasure. It was sold in recent years and the is a WARNING. I would not recommend them. I dropped off 2 rugs (something I did regularly with the last owners) and when I went to pick them up, they were WAY dirtier than when dropped off and felt like they were dipped in grease. They offered to clean them again (apparently sent them out somewhere) and even with a second cleaning, they are disgusting. Probably about $1k worth of rugs.....and headed to the trash. Hopefully this will save someone else having their belongings ruined by North Main St Cleaners. read more

Ughhh I asked them if they could get the moth ball odor out of my clothes and they said yea. I paid $15 to clean a jacket and it still smelled. They wouldn't give me a refund or credit. read more

These people have been in business for a long-time which, in and of itself says a lot, especially in a snotty community like East Hampton. The proprietors are always pleasant and always will try to do what they can to make their customers happy. BUT THEY HAVE NEVER OVER-PROMISED... at least not with me. Once I brought in a pair of fleece lined suede slippers but they told me they were not equipped to clean them without ruining them (because of the sole). Even suggested where to take them. Net, net, for standard cleaning, at very reasonable prices (especially compared to NYC), I strongly recommend giving them a try. read more

Just went in to pick up laundry after summer renters left. $525 for one couch slipcover, 4 chaise lounge covers, one seat cushion and 2 (machine washable) twin duvet covers. Stains remain all over chaise cushions. Response I got when pointing it out was "we can't guarantee stain removal". Ummm- ok. Job was rushed- did everything in one day (due on a Wed, called Tues before after dropping it off one week prior and they still hadn't touched it. Finally called Thursday to say it was ready). Charged a small fortune with lousy results. Take your business elsewhere. UPDATE: Just got home and looked at white couch slipcover- EVERY stain is still on it. Was charged $280. Will NEVER use them again. read more

This the only Cleaner to use in East Hampton. Always cheerful, and will get things done quickly when needed. They will tell you if they cannot work on something, yet they will recommend where to take items, ex: leather. I have been going to them 30+ years. They also do alterations. Sometimes a stain wouldn't come out, but they will cheerfully re-do... We all need to realize, sometimes a stain won't come out...no matter what. read more

Unbelievable rudeness & inefficiency!!! I brought pants in to change waist closure 15 days ago. When I call to ask if they are there, told they "don't t Know when she will get there to Bring them in". Told I am leaving the area for 6 months. They still couldn't help. I have liked and used this cleaner for years. They tell me in advance when they think something won't come out, but as long as i understand that are willing to try and do a good job. I'm sorry if someone else had a bad experience, but out of hundreds of items i have always been fortunate, the owners have been very pleasant, and the prices are still sane. read more

We have been using these folks since we moved here a dozen years ago. Everything has been just fine...coats, suit, dresses, pants, jackets.... No problems whatsoever. read more
