A great experience. I needed a laundromat that was off of the Montauk Highway. This was pretty convenient to East Hampton downtown. I dropped my laundry off at about 12:30 PM on the fifth of July and they were able to get me my sheets the same day and all of my laundry the next day available at 9 AM. Super friendly staff and great service. Pretty quick turnaround for 17 pounds of laundry plus sheets on Fourth of July weekend. My wash and fold was $6.50 per pound so it was pretty expensive but the service was nice and great in a pinch. read more

I REALLY loved Sweet waters cleaners until the owner and tailor was so EXTREMELY rude to me on the phone. She charged me $95 to sew a Jean pocket. I had called and spoke to her very kind husband about it, he was supposed to call me back but never did. When I called a few days later I got his rude wife. She called me names, screamed at me and then hung up on me...all I kept asking for was to speak to her husband. In order to get your clothing dry cleaned or shirts washed and pressed they REQUIRE CREDIT CARD PAYMENT IN ADVANCE! Simply stated, as a normal business practice a customer pays for services rendered after the services are provided. In addition, if there was damage in process or a lost item how would that claim be handled considering that Sweetwaters Cleaners already had your payment. I had a dress shirt damaged by their machinery and the owner claimed that this new shirt was damaged before they received it. And his attitude together with his wife was both insulting and I appropriate. I WILL NEVER use their services again. Dropped off four sweaters for cleaning and received an unfriendly attitude when asking for pricing. Shrugged it off assuming the woman was having a tough day - when picking up my clothing it seems as though everyone was in a better mood and the tension was an isolated instance. Other reviews now show me the experience is somewhat consistent. My clothing was beautifully cleaning and combed - not a single piece of lint or thread on the garment - very happy with the cleaning however the sweaters seemed to have grown exponentially in size. Thick and fluffy cashmere sweaters should never be pressed to the point where the fibers feel as if it is a lower ply. Called the shop to firstly thank them for a beautiful cleaning but also ask if they have any suggestions to shrink sweaters as they are clearly larger. I was met with instant attitude and rudeness by a man asking if I was accusing them of stretching out my sweaters. Really horrible customer service. Was told he could not recommend a remedy without seeing the clothing, which I do understand. However, in this business I would assume generalized tips could be shared.. The sleeves were once at my wrists and now reach my finger tips! If I were to accuse a business of damaging $5000 worth of clothing I would simply outright say so. Mean and nasty woman refused to advise on pricing when I dropped my goods off. I was advised I would get an email receipt with cost asap. I got nothing via email until the day the work was done only to find out that the charge was $250 for a press-only dress, and that I was charged for dry cleaning a suit I only needed pressed. I attempted to resolve this with both male and female owner to no avail. She said she was calling the police if I did not leave her store, and he advised he would call me back. I now find out that they charged a credit card number I had provided over a year ago. I am contesting their unauthorized use of my credit card. These people are swindlers and mean to boot! I often ignore negative reviews as I assume some percentage of them are written by competitors -- so wish I hadn't ignored the many here. For the very first time, new customer, I took an item of clothing in for repair. When the receipt for the item did not come through my email (they only produce these electronically -- and I checked my spam), I asked the woman if she could please sign acknowledging receipt. She immediately began to berate me, telling me that they don't typically take items like the one I was giving them, that they typically deal in items worth "thousands of dollars" (this item was designer -- not that that should matter in the LEAST -- wow, the classism here), that their customers trust them and if I don't trust them, then I should go somewhere else. I'm new -- what relationship do we have that I would trust you already? (Of less concern to me, but still wacky, she insisted that the item needed to be cleaned as well as it might have COVID on it. If you're still believing COVID is transmitted on surfaces -- time to get out of the dry cleaning business). P.S. the receipt NEVER came through, so when I returned to follow her advice, pick up my item and take my business elsewhere, she started saying that I had put her in a "situation" (by asking for a receipt??) I told her that I am glad that she is satisfied with her current level of business as I will be telling my many year-round, local contacts with wardrobes that DO cost "thousands of dollars" to not go to this business. Wainscott is a small town, particularly in the off season. Oops. Don't ever assume you know who you're dealing with. The "Sweet" in the business name is beyond laughable. In my lifetime, I have NEVER experienced this kind of poor treatment anywhere. Based on other reviews, I think this may be the owner's wife or a co-owning spouse?! I hope not. I can attest to reviewers saying the customer service is terrible. I dry clean items all the time and understand that sometimes items don't make it home. When I picked up my order a $100 sweater was missing. As I usually do when this happens, I called and politely asked they check to see if they'd try to find it. The woman on the phone refused to look up my order, told me they never lose anything, and refused to let me speak to the man I gave my order to. Any other dry cleaner I've used always at least checks because things do happen, and 9/10 times they find the missing item and all is fine. It's a shame because other than the missing sweater and this woman being unbelievably rude and unhelpful, the experience was fine. I recently moved from Manhattan to Wainscott full time, after enjoying my home in beautiful Wainscott for 34 years. During all my years in NYC, I used Jeeves on the UES to do all my shirt laundering, and dry cleaning. Their prices were formidable and the quality of their work was spotty, at best. The work is good. I had an experience that left a horrible taste in my mouth, though. I just feel totally ripped off. I left two pairs of jeans with a decent amount of patchwork, and came back to a bill for over $200. I felt like I had no choice but to pay it, even though I never would have authorized more than $30 - $50 per pair of jeans. I was left in a situation where I reluctantly took the jeans and payed the tab, because this is the only nearby establishment that does this kind of work, and I or my family may need to come back and get more work done. But it feels like garbage still, to the point that it's 2am and I'm literally losing sleep over this. I just wish they would have called, but when I said that, the main guy (Charlie) said that they'd never get anything done if they called for approval on patchwork like this. Sweetwater's Cleaners ruined my expensive tie and refused to take responsibility- plus accused me of theft! WORST customer service if there is the slightest problem. I brought in a tie for cleaning, and when I picked it up the tie had become unstitched in the back and was ironed so that the keeper was all boogered up. For $8.50 (pretty expensive for cleaning a silk tie) I expect they would inspect the garment and ensure it looks perfect. I asked the man at the counter if they could please straighten out the tie keeper...He told me they didn't do it and they never make a mistake. Accused me of trying to steal from them. Began yelling uncontrollably and ordering me to leave the store. I've never had an issue with the quality of their work, and customer service is a priority. All of my items have always been returned to me. Prior to Sweetwaters being recommended to me by a friend, another local dry cleaner lost a jacket of mine. Apparently, my jacket was inadvertently given to another customer. Unfortunately, that customer couldn't be bothered to return it. At Sweetwater's they have a system that eliminates the possibility of an item being lost. I have never written an online customer review before, it is just not something I do, but this was a negative experience and it aligns with the other negative reviews that I see here, and therefore I feel compelled to contribute for the advance benefit of others. This was the first (and last) time I went. As a local resident, who represents significant potential future business and discovering on the spot how expensive this place is, I asked for a price list. This request was simple and appropriate. A basic price list is standard at dry cleaners everywhere - either written on the wall or in a little pamphlet, or something, that you can take with you for reference. Charles (the owner) brushed me off with an arrogant demeanor. He said he would email me a price list and he did not. They probably just make up prices on the spot and take advantage of customers. A few days later, when I returned to pick up my items, I asked the lady there and she said they do not do price lists, and then she said, "get out of my store and never come back". These people are miserable and their service is awful. I will not go back and will comment accordingly with anyone I know in the area if/when the topic of dry cleaning comes up. Got me to the wedding on time !!! My son was getting married on Sat and late on Thurs afternoon my online tuxedo arrived with the wrong inseam and I went to Sweetwaters cleaners and asked if they could help me. The owner and a woman who I believe was his wife (and if she isn't then he should marry her) both went out of their way to take my exact measurements and get me the pants the very next day so I wasn't wearing formal black "Bermuda shorts" to my sons wedding !!! I have one blouse that I wear with a stain right in the middle of it because I love it so much and no dry cleaner has ever been able to get it out. They did! I just showed up with a loose button on a blazer I wanted to wear tonight, in the midst of a torrential rain storm. I am embarrassed to say I don't even know how to sew on a button! But for fashion, I will do anything, so I called ahead to see if they would sew a button on while I wait, expecting to hear "Are you crazy? This is the Hamptons!" Instead, the owner who answered the phone said, "Come on over!" Turns out that his seamstress wasn't even there--so his wife sewed the button on, and reinforced the others at the same time. They both couldn't have been nicer! I also learned that they are in fact known for their alterations: people send their garments from Manhattan and keep their measurements on file. I don't even know how this place has customers.. the owner, CARMEN, is off her rocker and obviously has a chip on her shoulder.. couldn't be ruder or more unwilling to help her customers. I was so unsatisfied with my customer service there recently and I am a very calm, polite person. When I called to express my dismay with something, CARMENT said I was harassing her and hung up the phone on me. Keep in mind, there isn't a harassment bone in my body!! My jaw just dropped! She charged me full price for a shirt that had stains on it. The first stain was taken out sucessfully and the bottom tiny stain was forgotten about, when I simply asked if it could be left for a few more days at her shop to de-stain the forgotten one (bc it was all the way at the bottom of my drapped blouse) she insisted that it was never going to come out, but I asked how the other stain came out when they were both the result of spilled ice cream, that I didn't mind waiting a few more days, that it was clearly just overlooked and forgotten to pre-spot the stain... she continued to get very aggressive with me, demanded payment right away and kept interrupting me when I would speak and calling me 'ma'm' .. like that would couteract her horrifically condescending and nasty tone of voice.. I am seriously shocked and never been so insulted or handled with such unwillingness to simply do the service I paid you for! She is the owner too! I will be sure to tell ALL of my friends that reside in the hampton's seasonally or year round to not visit her dry cleaners. STAY AWAY!! After 11 years of living and working as an Estate Manager in the Hamptons there are very few businesses that I have such negative remarks for as I do Sweetwater, and Charles in particular. I have never encountered someone as rude as he is. We had weekly pickups of multiple sets of king sheet (multiple hundreds of dollars a week account). Sheets either came back with stains still on them or damaged during cleaning that he had to run through insurance to replace (twice), not to mention the amount he charges...but I never even complained about that. I am an understanding person and know mistakes happen...but the arrogance and attitude that came with each encounter was completely out of line. When I finally (and politely) told him we no longer needed his services he scoffed at me and told me "you'll be back". Needless to say I have never been back and anyone I speak to about this business has similar stories. I've used another company for years sending even more sheets and not one single time have I ever had anything returned damaged (I'm not even going to say which place so I'm not accused of plugging a competitor).
