When the EMTs arrived, they physically stabilized my father, but they didn't arrive at Robbinsdale North Memorial until an hour later. He spent a few hours in the ER, before being transferred the hospital's Intensive Care Unit. Upon hearing the news, I took the first flight back home and arrived around 1 am to see my father in the company of my shaken mother and a couple family friends. I wrapped my arms around my father when I first saw him, and then cried an ocean into his chest. It was the worst day of my life. I'll never forget it Two of the three nights, I slept beside him on a six, maybe seven-foot long vinyl couch where I saw countless physicians and nurses enter and leave throughout the night. They see this so often, I'm sure: Families in pain as a loved one slowly withers away. I never saw any visiting hours posted anywhere. Even if they did exist, though, they knew that they wouldn't apply to me. I love their staff. They never complained, eye-rolled, or seem annoyed when I asked for assistance. When I did ask for extra chairs, blankets, and general assistance with my father -- they did everything I asked, too. I also saw them carefully take care of my father with respect. Every two hours they moved him, so he wouldn't develop sores from staying in one position too long. Even though he no brain activity (known following the first CT scan), they still asked him for permission. I appreciated that. After learning that my father no brain activity following the second CT scan, I spoke to one of the doctors who suggested I remove my father's off of life support. And I did. Once he passed, and the waves of crying subsumed, the head nurse at the time came over to me and handed over several viles with my dad's heartbeat printed on it. I was so touched. I know this hospital has a good number of mixed reviews, but I genuinely thought they did an outstanding job taking care of my father. A time when I felt absolutely emotional wreck, they did their best. I did think they could've done a better job with providing me more information once I arrived (like who were all the staff touching and moving my father), but I won't hold that against them. I'd recommended Robbinsdale North Memorial Hospital's ICU to anyone, but I hope you never have to experience what I did. Other tidbits: * You can buy validated parking tickets in the gift shop ($15 for five). I don't recall the rates, but it'll save you much more money. * Nothing to rave about their cafeteria. * Hospital isn't in the best neighborhood.

I requested a medical copy. It has been almost a year now - No result, No follow up, Nothing!read more

I drove in from Lindstrom to New Brighton for an 8:00 appt to find that they had cancelled, and nobody called. Part of my visit was to get refills called in as I was out of medication. The NP called me and took care of that but said I needed to reschedule to get the exam done which happens next week. I just got a bill for almost 400.00 after insurance for this call. They will not credit it as they say a service was provided. So now I will go in next week and be billed at least that much again. How is that right? I didn't cancel and this should have all been able to happen at one appointment. What about my time and fuel for this inconvenience? Horrible customer service, and we thought healthcare in Florida was bad....

I've been going to Fairview clinics my whole life, but this was my first time at this location. I…read morehave a thyroid condition and on a regular basis will get my thyroid tested. I had been feeling off the past few days and was switching to a more expensive health insurance tomorrow, so I called and talked to a nurse. I told her briefly what I wanted and said I'd like to see a doctor or have my blood drawn to get my thyroid checked. I told her I would like to get seen today if possible. She got me an appointment at a clinic farther away than usual, but that was okay because I was able to get seen today. I woke up my two month old baby and got him and my toddler in the car and we drove 20 mins there. (By the way, my baby was screaming the whole time). I got checked in and asked if I had a lab only or doctor appointment. She said lab only and I asked if there were any available appointments today and she said no. She gave me the lab slip and I walked back. I waited for 10-15 minutes in the lab waiting room. Then a nurse came for me and in front of all of the people waiting asked me if a doctor told me to get my blood drawn. I said no, but since I have this thyroid issue my blood is checked on a regular basis. She told me I couldn't get my blood drawn without doctor's orders. I asked why they had me drive all they way out there, and she said, I don't know, I don't know what you said or what the nurse said. I'm not sure if her intention was to make me feel like it was my fault or to make me embarrassed in front of all the people in the small waiting room, but I felt both of those things. I started tearing up, so I took both of my upset children and left. I didn't feel cared for or listened to. This was a horrible experience and much worse because I'm not feeling well. I've delivered both of my babies at Fairview, but am now thinking I'll take my business elsewhere.

I came here in desperation when I was very sick. It's a busy clinic but the woman at the front…read moredesk- I need to get her name- is extremely friendly and didn't give me a hard time the first two times I didn't have my insurance card. She's very kind. As for the doctor they paired me with- I was desperate. I have avoided doctors at all costs my whole life- I'm only 25 and am not sick very often but when I am my experiences have never really been good because either the issue I was experiencing was never solved or they don't even listen to the things I'm saying, or they prescribe me more meds that don't work and I'm in the same boat instead of solving the problem. Not the case here. My doctor was Danielle, and she is an angel. I was almost crying when I told her of what I was dealing with and she not only listened intently but TOOK NOTES as I spoke to her. She was very understanding and sweet, even hesitated at the door before she left as if she wanted to hug me because I was so so down. The things she prescribed me actually helped and she covered all the bases. I am so grateful for her and will keep coming back to her. Thank you for showing me what patient and doctor relationships are supposed to be like. -Ceaira
