I've heard so many people rave about the awesome Chinese restaurant ten minutes away from my house,…read moreand yes, it's Chairman Wang's. I invited my mom to have a dinner date with me because she's been living in Hong Kong for many years, and she absolutely loves Chinese food! Before you even enter the restaurant, you can really see how well they've decorated the restaurant! From the entrance, to the ceilings, walls, tables, absolutely everything! They serve the usual Chinese food, like siomai, Hakaw, Pork Buns, and the like.. But they've also got unique dishes I've never heard of or seen anywhere else like their Northern Style Lamb Dumplings, and their Minced Lamb wrapped in Pancake with leeks (this dish was delish!) We ordered a lot of food like the Smoked Duck Breast in Hoisin Wrap! I love duck and this dish is so good and contains a lot of vegetables! Their chicken dishes are also quite known to those who have tried them because of how good they are... I especially LOVE their sweet and sour chicken and their Honey Sesame Crispy chicken too!

Opting for a quick bite, we had pork and chive dumplings which were a tad bit small but big in size. Love the hint of star anise in its filling and black vinegar dipping sauce that came with it (I usually request for black vinegar at other dimsum places). On the other hand, the beef Hofan was pretty good and textbook stir fry- good balance of flavor and textures. Both dishes came too oily but that's synonymous with Chinese comfort food!

The rooftop setting is stunning, featuring elegant water features and the option to dine either outdoors under the skyline or indoors while still enjoying the rooftop atmosphere. The views alone make this place worth visiting, especially in the evening when the city lights come alive. The food was excellent. We sampled a variety of Filipino dishes, all beautifully prepared and elevated with thoughtful, upscale twists while still respecting the local flavors. A special mention goes to our server, Bon, who was outstanding throughout the evening. Attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming, he helped make an already memorable experience even better. Soft live music was on, and it added to the experience. Between the incredible atmosphere, beautiful setting, delicious food, and exceptional service, this is a place I would happily recommend to anyone looking for a special night out in Manila.

While technically indoors, the restaurant opens its large sliding doors in the evening, creating a cool, breezy, open-air feel that makes the space both comfortable and memorable. It's easy to understand why so many couples choose this venue for date nights and proposals. The atmosphere alone is worth the visit. Since we came for an early dinner, we mostly ordered appetizers and dishes for sharing. We started with the Seafood Clam Chowder served in a bread bowl. It was decent and comforting, nothing particularly memorable, but certainly not bad. The Sisig Lumpia was unfortunately the weakest dish of the evening. Good sisig should have some crispness and texture, but this version lacked that signature crunch and came across as overly oily. It was the one dish I probably wouldn't order again. On the brighter side, the Pinchos drizzled with balsamic reduction were flavorful and enjoyable. The Beef Nachos were the star of the savory dishes, generously portioned, satisfying, and perfect for sharing. For dessert, we had the Frozen Brazo de Mercedes, which was a great way to end the meal and easily one of the highlights of our order. Service was excellent throughout. The staff were attentive, warm, and professional, making sure everything flowed smoothly without being intrusive. While the food this visit was a bit mixed, the stunning views, romantic ambiance, and impeccable service continue to make The Nest a place worth returning to. I've dined here before and remember some of their entrées being much stronger than the appetizers we ordered this time, so I'd happily come back and explore more of the menu. The food may not be flawless, but the experience certainly is. For the view, ambiance, and service alone, The Nest earns a solid 4 out of 5 star

The tough part is that everything is geared for larger groups. The entree was large and meant for sharing. Also, there were any small tables. Everything was set up for larger parties. Once you step inside the Phoenix court, you will be greeted by female food attendants dresses in qipao- the traditional Chinese dress. You will be brought one of the many tables inside. We always choose the round table (not sure if there's a square) because we normally have lunch there as a team. It makes it easy for us to talk to each other while waiting for our food. The food is something you'd normally find in m the menu of similarly-themed hotel restaurants. We had chicken fillet with almonds and walnuts, a seafood and egg platter, beef brocolli, fried chicken in caramel sauce, fried cuttlefish and sweet and sour pour. I've tasted all of these from different restaurant's and I can't say there's something special. They all taste the same. The staff are always at your beck and call, ever ready to take additional order or refill your water goblet. There was one staff though who spoke to our bossin the vernacular when he knew my boss who was with us that day is Chinese! So is it worth the price? Sadly no. You're better off eating somewhere because the food at the Phoenix Court is nothing to write about. I guess if you're in the area and is looking for a place big enough to treat a huge group, this here is perfect.
