I needed to have a pair of sandals fixed, the straps were too loose and they weren't adjustable. The little cobbler shop is reminiscent of my childhood days, so old fashioned with the smell of old leather. He adjusted them to my feet and cut the straps to re-sew them. Dropped them off Thursday and they were ready by Saturday. They fit great and his prices are reasonable. $14 for the repair and they fit great. I didn't even know there were still cobblers around. This review is based on my drop off experience only. I expect, based on reviews, to get the same excellent service after the repair as I did describing what I needed done. I brought in two pairs of booties, one needing a rubber tap placed over the plastic heel that makes a reached when I walk. I asked the cost and was very satisfied (this used to cost $5 in the '80's when there were at least 3 cobblers - that's what we used to call "shoe repair" shops - within 3 blocks of my downtown Boston office. It id more expensive now, but a very fair price all these years later). My second pair was Dr Martens boots that I've worn down enough that they're dangerously slippery. After looking closely, the suggestion was to remove and replace the whole sole. That was expensive, about 1/2 the price of a new pair. So, we kept talking. and Ron suggested filing down the front of the sole slightly to create a bit more traction, and replacing only the back quarter at the heel, since that tread is fully worn away. That should be only about 1/3-1/2 the price - and it's a great compromise! Also, if that doesn't solve the problem we can still replace the rest of the bottom. This was a thoughtful resolution, and genuine customer service: let's address the problem in a cost effective way. read more

The best cobbler I've found in the area. No matter what you ask or request Ron will strive to make you satisfied. Each time I've been excited to pick-up my shoes because I know they were treated with care and I was charged a fair price. I originally came in to re-sole a pair of boots that had holes in the soles. Ron made some suggestions and we decided on a Vibram Morflex. He replaced the midsole as well and I was so satisfied the with the end result that I've had two other pairs of shoes re-soled with Ron (a pair of boots and a pair of loafers). He's also cleaned up some soft leather boots for me and even offered to fix an uneven wedge sole on a pair of work boots I have. Fantastic cobbler. Ron resoled my boots. He took the time to help me pick out the ideal new soles (which are way nicer than the originals). He told me he'd probably need to replace the midsole (which he did); I appreciated that. Ron also put a great shine on the boots. They don't look like the same old S-kickers, and look better than when I bought them (5 years ago). My boots were done about 5 days earlier than Ron estimated, and for exactly the amount he estimated. (It was $75 for the whole burrito, which included new midsoles and the new finish. Very good deal. Hell, I'd have paid $50 for the finish alone.) North Shoe Repair is worth a drive if you don't live in North Attleboro, but it's nice to have it right here. Excellent little place. read more

There are so few cobblers around and I am so lucky to have found North Shoe Repair. I have been going to North Shoe Repair for at least the past five years and I really should have written a review sooner. I have a favorite pair of knee high leather boots and I wore them all the time, even when they started to look too worn. I searched for months, and now for years, to find the same pair to replace my favorite boots. When I realized I couldn't find a suitable replacement, I looked for a cobbler and found North Shoe Repair on Yelp. I brought my boots in for repair not knowing if it was possible to bring them back to life. I am happy to say that I couldn't believe how great they looked when I picked them up only a few days later. I thought I'd be able to get one more season out of them but I actually got three more seasons out of them! I brought in a nice pair of florsheim dress shoes I wear almost every day. I have had them for years and they were so bad I even told Ron it was ok to tell me they were beyond repair. Despite the 3 holes I had in the soles he said he could replace the soles, heels, and shine them. I had reached out to the owner, Ron, by Yelp message regarding my boyfriend's suede Clarks that needed stitching. Ron answered me back the same day with and estimate and told me what he could to do. During the week I had brought the shoes in and was told I could pick it up in a couple days. I picked it up the weekend before Thanksgiving and my boyfriend and I were very happy with the work. Ron had told me beforehand that he probably would only be able to do a zigzag stitch where the tear was (a quarter sized rip where the inseam was in the back of the shoe) and that it would show. Because the shoe was a dark color and my boyfriend's pant opening would most likely cover the stitching, we decided that that would be fine. I paid $7 for the stitching and thought that was a steal. There were a few people waiting to pick up their items when I went (before the holiday break), but the line moved quickly and everyone seemed happy with what was done to their belongings. Since I live in RI, this is a slight trek for me; but I will definitely be back. read more
