It felt like we were playing follow the leader for 5 mi up and 5 mi back on a largely straight trail. The endpoint is a lovely home with a picturesque stream but we were expecting that once we got there we'd actually be able to freestyle on the ATVs a bit. This was simply our expectations, there's nothing in their advertising that says this will happen. Even so, if you're hoping to have an exciting ride, this was kind of tame. We never really got above 15 mph on the trail. The guides were great, nothing against them. Just really missed our expectations. Based on the other reviews, most people seem to love it.

The only negative is you go as fast as the slowest person in the group. Our party of 5 was put together with a party of 4 70+ year olds, needless to stay a real downer. When you go to the original homestead, it is mosquito ridden make sure you use the deet offered or pay the consequences.

The trip…read morestarted out where we got all of our instruction and gear including helmets that fit each family member and then we got a short explanation about how to drive each of the Honda four wheelers for my two daughters they got a automatic transmission version as well as a two seat version which was helpful. We started up with Ken and he made sure to watch us so that we didn't fall too far behind or miss a turn. He also took every opportunity to shoot photos where there were good scenic viewpoints. We also crossed a stream. And he shot a video of us crossing the stream. If you are looking for a good ATV adventure I would say don't go any further and book this excursion. The trails are difficult enough to make it fun for everybody and then not so difficult where it becomes overwhelming.

This was hands-down one of the best experiences we had while visiting Alaska; it's an incredibly unique way to get out and see the amazing mountain views and Alaskan terrain. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced ATV rider, Alaska Off-Road Adventures has something for everyone. Ken took the time to get us acquainted with the vehicles and then led us on a fun ride over many varying terrain elements. He had a wonderful personality and really made this trip feel special. We had 4 drivers and 1 rider with varying degrees of ATV-familiarity and by the end of the tour every single one of us had grins from ear-to-ear (and just the right amount of mud splattered on us!). Ken's ATV tour is something that my family still talks about months after our trip. If you're choosing between activities while visiting, or passing through, Talkeetna, I can't recommend this tour enough! It blows your run-of-the-mill tour out of the water!

Safety is clearly their priority- they were were confident, professional and kind. It was cloudy the day we went so we could only see the foothills of Denali, but it was still gorgeous. There we tons of songbirds seranading us in the trees. The last two zips near the lake were my favorite. Simply beautiful. Also really enjoyed the rappel. We are already planning our next ziplining adventure with their sister company in Seward which apparently includes 3 rappels.

Very well thought through and safety first. They know what they are doing. This particular zip line is you always stay with your group. Two staff and 8 customers. We go one by one, one zip line at a time. I was fortunate that group was very friendly and we got to know them while waiting for others to zip. They have nine zips and well, they are okay. Done here once and I don't think I would repeat again type level. Yes it was beautiful and all but excitement level was just an average for me. It's still fun way to spend a few hours outdoors safely. You may want to use a mosquito repellent prior to your arrival. While mosquitoes may not come up high, we eventually have to come down, and they are a lot of them here.

We just went out with Todd this morning and had the best time, despite the rain, wet and cold! My…read moreboyfriend and I had Todd and his sweet dog, Bandit, all to ourselves and we were one of the first ones on the river this morning! While the spot is a popular spot, it was teaming with salmon and plenty for all! Todd literally caught a fish on his first cast (he was giving a quick tutorial). My boyfriend and I caught and released about 20 chum and pink "humpy" salmons and still caught our quota of silver (coho) salmon. (In AK you can only keep 3). We only reserved him for a half day, which was plenty for us given the unlucky weather. Todd was super helpful and had all of the gear we would need, including waders, printed our fishing licenses for us, had multiple rods ready to use, had fly fishing rods (which we didn't try, but he was using them) and took care of all our netting, and filleting our fish. You could tell he really knows his stuff and that the other outfitters were a little jealous of all the fish we were catching. Apparently it all has to do with the "rig" we were using (aka the hook, tackle, set-up of the rod). He then gave us the number of a really nice lady, Crystal, who doesn't normally work on Sundays, but met us anyways to help process and ship our fish home. (I will review once we get home and reunited with our fish.) Overall, our experience was great and exactly what we came to AK for. When you're out with a guide for several hours, personality is important. I was worried that our guide might be a grouchy local snob (since we are from SD and clearly tourists) or overly cheesy (which we were a little sick of after being on a cruise ship). Todd is the guy that lives here, owns and operates his own business, and clearly takes pride and care in guiding others in what he does very well. Pura vida - is the best suitable word to describe this park…read more Located two miles south of Talkeetna downtown, we walked from downtown to here to enjoy peaceful time. Parking is $5. Outhouse is at the parking area. They have several lakes with lots of trails. We spent a few hours at the park but only saw another group of people just once. Trails are well marked and mostly flat. When the weather cleared up, we started hearing many airplanes take off but until then, all we heard was the sound of wind. We took a break at one of the dock area where they have free life jackets to use if you bring your own canoe. We just sat at the dock and used our backpacks as pillow. Laid there and enjoyed a whole lot of quietness and tranquility. Water was very cold. I saw some small fishes swimming. Away from people, away from deadlines and busy work. This was truly a vacation. Loved this park.
