The drive itself is very scenic and once you arrive at the lake area, there's an obvious day use area where you can park and use the pay machines for day use fees. I didn't do much of the trail, as I was heading north to Denali but did spend about 45 minutes or so walking the rocky shoreline and taking in the amazing views. There are a number of trails to explore here as well as kayaking and guided hikes. It's a glacier fed lake and also serves as a water supply for Anchorage. Alaska has no shortage of wonders and it's pretty special that you can drive a short distance from its largest city and arrive to a place like Eklutna Lake. Carry bear spray-sightings are common though we didn't see any.

There were plenty of spots along the old dirt road where you could step closer to the water and really take in the scenery. There were mosquitoes, but we came prepared with bug spray, so it wasn't too bad. Looking back, we probably would've enjoyed kayaking more. The lake was calm and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Even just sitting by the water felt peaceful. If we go back, we're skipping the hike and getting out on the lake.

So, over $1,000 later, I have a nearly WalMart grade bike that gets a flat almost every time I use it! Worst ever experience buying!

I brought my bike here for a bent rim and they had it fixed within 4 days during the busy summertime. They charged $50. Their road bike inventory is super limited compared to their mountain bike inventory, but they can order anything online and have it shipped to their store for assembly. The prices are reasonable and their staff is always very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Scott let us ride 4 different styles outside to see what we preferred and went over the pros/cons of each style. The bike we wanted had a button shifter (excuse my lack of correct terminology) but wanted a throttle that shifted. We were connected with the bike shop mechanics in the back and we able to get a quote to change out the shifter to a throttle. Super happy with our experience and all the knowledge we received.
