This hospital was once a dump however now its an amazing hospital. From my experience I was treated with the upmost respect and awesome service . Starting from the emergency room staff. I thought I would be sitting waiting for at least 4 hrs. Its was about 1 hour and I was called in. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling well, but the nurses and Dr took very good care of me. I had pneumonia didnt even know it. I was treated with the upmost care. From transport to food service, imaging reps to blood work reps , nurses on the floor were all great. Southside has improved a lot. I would recommend this hospital for care.

The ER was the absolute worst I had experienced in my entire life... rude staff (Not all -but too…read moremany). I came with documents from my doctor sending me to the ER I came in with various symptoms & a fever, I told the intake that I was seeing white and couldn't walk, it felt as though I was ready to pass out... they didn't care! Someone came out and called me in, and when again I explained that I can't walk, she just marched ahead and asked me to follow her clear across the ER never looking back to notice that I found a chair in someone else's cubical, I needed to sit or I would have fallen. Another nurse hurried over (one of the nice ones) and explained that I couldn't sit there, she heard me say that I was about to fall and that I couldn't follow the lady of whom by now was out of sight... this nice nurse got me a chair and wheeled me all the way across the er to what they call a stretcher/bed? (It was brutal and actually painful to rest on this for the 6 hours I was there). The original lady that told me to follow her to my "stretcher/bed" was down right rude! I'm shocked she works with humans. I'll make this short... cut to my discharge... the LPN walks over with a bunch of papers, circles a few sentences, says almost nothing except "here's the directions"... I showed her I had an IV port still in my arm, she replies, "oh ok I'll have to get the Dr to sign off on removal" after all that I ask her a few questions about what I should look for that would mean I needed to return? She said "I don't know here's your discharge instructions, I circled them"... when I made my way out of the ED (still lightheaded but better after the treatments), I get to Valet and find not one place to sit and wait for my vehicle, I was going to sit on the cement. The sweet Valet gentleman brought his own chair out for me to sit and wait. I need to make clear that I had spent time in this same hospital on a unit about 3 months back and I even called the hospital to make sure the wonderful staff were recognized for their amazing care and treatment. I mentioned each person by name and specialty...I was thanked and told that people only go out of their way to complain, they were so happy to hear my wonderful reviews. In short the ED staff, needs to be retrained on how to work with other human beings in a field of "helping" along with this ED needs to be revamped... as well, there is no privacy at all. Maybe they can take some pointers from the units and the staff on the units. I won't ever return to the ED should I need one, and I will certainly make sure anyone I love and care about knows of my experience in the ED.

Although I love Dr Cimmino, I had to only give the office 3 stars. The wait times are ridiculous at times, and the desk can be chaotic. For example, they didn't tell me they couldn't take cards right now (after their move), until after I was already in the office. Actually, I waited 1 hours before they even said anything about it. I was brought to Good Samaritan's ER after having what felt like a throat closing reaction to huge…read moreamounts of fresh paint at Brunswick (psych) Hospital. Brunswick Hospital had my name misspelled and had literally told me I was wrong about my name and medical history. NYU which sent me to Brunswick and had initiated the misspelling had told me I had never been a patient in NY hospitals before. Both hospitals found out this was wrong but neither of them told me, changed my name band, updated my records, or acted any differently. In fact, staff at Brunswick kept calling me by the wrong name and I had no choice but to agree that was my name. The social worker at Brunswick maintained I had no health issues or health insurance, which is really odd given that they xeroxed my health insurance card on admission. Can you imagine psychiatrists and others telling you that your name is not your name and your medical history is not your medical history? The nurse at Good Samaritan asked if I had been to Good Sam before. While the answer was yes, I said I don't know because of the above. She gave me a name band with my name spelled correctly. I showed her my name band from Brunswick with the misspelling and I told her there was an issue with my name and its spelling. I think I even told her I couldn't be the person named on the Good Samaritan name band and showed her the "correct" spelling from Brunswick because I was feeling very stuck as I had been told I was not that person by NYU and Brunswick. I was later informed that it is not Good Sam's job to inform another hospital of instances like this where another hospital's nameband does not match the patient and the patient discusses it. I was given Benadryl for the allergic reaction and the Benadryl made me quite delusional. I was not delusional when I got to Good Sam but was after the Benadryl. I was also back to sane before they sent me back to Brunswick. Brunswick's nursing staff left me alone at Good Sam after a few hours and so Good Sam's staff absolutely knew when I was delusional and when I was not. They should have noticed that I was delusional only when under the influence of Benadryl and should have had questions. They did not. I was informed this is not their job as they are not psychiatrists. I was futher informed that they had no reason to suspect anticholinergic toxicity despite my having had multiple symptoms of it - in fact, they found rationale for why each of those symptoms should have been overlooked. Good Sam sent me back to Brunswick with at least one of Good Sam's nurses knowing my Brunswick name band had an incorrect name on it and my saying there was an issue. I say at least one but chances are it was far more than one. Good Sam should have told Brunswick to correct my name and tell me that there had been a glitch, that people made a mistake, and that they knew I was who I had said I was and that my medical records had been found. They also missed the extremely clear issue of what was causing me to be "mad as a hatter," and many other things. Upon receiving my complaints, Good Sam did tell me that Brunswick sent over paperwork that had a sticker with the correct spelling of my name placed over the original printed incorrect spelling of my name. They sent me back to Brunswick with papers that had the correct spelling of my name but I was literally never given those papers. This is literally the craziest story ever. I Good Sam is perhaps a minor player here but they could have done something and they missed a medical diagnosis.

I believe she said her name was Eileen. She was nasty and very unprofessional. She wouldn't even allow me to fully ask my question before cutting me off. She even abruptly hung up the phone when she thought I was done talking. How I felt after having this call, I wouldn't recommend this place to a dying enemy.

Woke up the next day much worse only to go to another Doctor who then prescribed the proper antibiotic to treat this type of illness. I put a call out to the clinic today to get some information and let me tell you, they couldn't give a hoot what happened and talked to me like I was a child. Even worse than that. Do not go here. You are better off going elsewhere. Just look at the review and you will see why.
