This is the dirtiest nail salon I have ever been to. I didn't feel confident in their sanitization of the tools they used. It appeared they used many of the same ones on the last customer. In fact, they definitely reused the files. That is a health hazard. And gross. When I brought it up the man doing my service couldn't understand me. A woman brought a package with a nipper in it but he never opened it. So I opted out of everything but pushing back cuticles and polish. Which was very disappointing. I would not use this place ever again. The chair I was in was old and not in good shape and the water was cold. My daughter (age 11) also said it was freezing. The good things were the large polish selection, cost and the walk in service. But even the polish rack was filthy. read more

Came in for a pedicure via an appointment and they made me wait 40 mins before my nails got started with. What's the point of an appointment if you can't honor it. I specifically wanted to avoid the crowd due to pandemic conditions and asked for a time when I could go for the treatment right away but this was an unfortunate turn of events. I really debated if I should give them 2-3 stars despite the wait issue but the service itself was awful for the $30 they charge and super rushed. This was the quickest pedicure of my life.. they finished it in 10-15 mins super rushed. I also heard several other people after me saying they have appointments and all had to wait a good 20 mins or more before they could get a seat. I don't recommend this place at all. If you want a last moment treatment and don't have reservations anywhere perhaps can walk in here because there is literally no difference between calling them and doing an appointment VS a walk in. I usually like this place but my last experience was terrible. I got my eyelashes done by Kayla and it was $60 even though my lashes were coming off 6 days after getting them done. Normally it's $80 but she gave me $10 off which is crazy! She said it would last 2-3 weeks. Definitely not worth it! She also really wanted me to write a good review and sent me a copy of what I should write on yelp. I didn't want to do this because I wanted to see if my lashes would stay and they didn't. I went in for a gel full set. Instead of a gel set, the nail tech used acrylic and no chip polish. My total was $70, so I'm not sure if I paid for the gel set and got acrylic, or actually paid for what I got. I wish the nail tech would have told me that she wasn't able to do the design I had wanted, so I could have picked something different. She couldn't draw the outline of the flames, so she stuck silver stickers to my nails and then painted gold over them. You can clearly see the stickers, where they end, and that the gold nail polish looks very sloppy. When I got into the car, I also noticed that a few of my nails are very badly shaped. LOVE this nail salon. I moved to Milwaukee a year ago and this is the best hidden gem. I was really missing my nail salon in Chicago at first. I tried a few salons until I finally found North Shore. Andy is my go to. I honestly love him. He is the best of the best. Way better than my nail place in Chicago. I am also super clumsy and have broken my nails doing dumb things, he fixes them at any time without question. I have started bringing friends and family here and everyone loves it. I found North Shore Nails when there was a scheduling mix up at another salon and my appointment was cancelled. Kayla (the salon owner) was able to get me right in and even stayed a little late to make sure my nails were perfect! I've been going to her ever since. Her creativity and attention to detail are second to none. No design I have ever suggested is too much. I love this place, the price for dip nails is $42 (with cash) which is nice compared to other places nearby.. but I would not suggest getting dip here. After 3 days, a nail had chipped and broke, and within 2 weeks almost all my nails have chipped and broke off. This is such a cute little place, with a very convenient location, and cute little handwritten signs, that I hate to report my manicure chipped right away. And I totally got what I paid for. The prices are very reasonable. Maybe my facial waxing was slightly more painful than normal. She did seem to pluck a few extra hairs out individually, which hurts. Please understand I am a super easy client where eyebrows are concerned. All they have to do is follow the lines I already have and not lop a piece off. The whole thing does look nice though. Overall very mediocre experience. Staff was very friendly and my friend and I were able to get a gel manicure and basic pedicure in about an hour. Initially seemed like a good experience but within a couple of days my manicure started to crack, which I've never had happen to me before. My cuticles looked worse than before I went in. My friend and I got our nails done on a Wednesday and by the following Sunday both of us experienced lifting/peeling polish and the polish used for her pedicure had bubbled. We got my bridal parties nails done here! When we arrived, it seemed the entire staff was just as excited as we were for the big day! We booked an appointment for 6 about a week out, and once we arrived, the door was opened for us and we were all able to be seated at stations right away. They did a great job on everyone's nails, the price was less than typical shops in Milwaukee which is an extra bonus, but there was no lack in quality! I've been coming here for years and would never go anywhere else! Unlike many other nail salons I've been to, the staff is so friendly and fun to talk to! They remember your name and how you like your nails done. They will do whatever design or shape you'd like even if they haven't done it before they will figure out how! I've never had to wait longer than 5-10 mins, even as a walk in. I usually get a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. Both last nearly a month (and I am rough on my nails due to my job). I used to get my eyebrows waxed here as well, they do a great job! Definitely my favorite nail salon in milwaukee!! I just wanted to add that over two years later I still have only been coming here and still think it's absolutely the best! I recently tried a different Salon in a high end hotel downtown Milwaukee as I was staying there and 4 out of 10 nails chipped within a week, 6 out of 10 chipped nails later I've learned my lesson NEVER to cheat on north shore nails again!!!!! That being said I just needed a fill on my acrylics and i chose a green color.. it looked great immediately after but after two days 3 of my nails peeled off i assumed that the polish was the problem so i went back in and they fixed it. i picked a slightly different green to avoid the last problem. Do not waste your time here!! I have been going here the past couple years and every time it has gotten progressively worse. It is not longer convenient for the location and price. The prices have significantly gone up and the quality has gone down. The owner is the worst one. All he cares about is getting you out of his chair and the next client in. I went in for a full acrylic gel set and it took under 30 minutes. It should never take that short of time. As you can see in the pictures below, the paint job is sloppy and barely lasts. So unfortunate to see a business go down hill but I can no longer support. The owner stops in the middle of your service to go outside and smoke a cigarette. Its quite disgusting. I feel as if they do not care whatsoever about the quality or care of the client, and more about the quantity they take in. My nails never last more than a week. So disappointing. read more

I decided to go to north shore nails because it *was* the highest rated nail shop near my house. The price was reasonable, but you definitely get what you pay for. I got a fill here and it was the biggest mistake of my life. My nails were rushed. The acrylic was lumpy and she did not attempt to fix it, she just kept going. She gently filed my nails, if you can even call it that. She just swiped over each side once. She left nail polish all over my fingers. The polish did seem hard to work with and it was pooling up all over the nail, but she didn't even bother cleaning the mess up. If all of that wasn't bad enough, two of my nails are ALREADY beginning to lift and it hasn't even been a full week since I got them filled. When I first got my full set at a different shop, I didn't start getting lifting until the 3rd week, which is about what you would expect getting acrylics. BUT, even if I did have a 5-star experience, nothing makes up for the blatant racism displayed by an employee on social media. If I'm correct, she's not even just an employee but the owners wife. Money talks, and it's important for everyone to spend their money with people who make everyone feel welcome. This is not that place so I will not even be calling to complain to get these fixed, because I will not be supporting a business who is racist towards the black community. North Shore Nails, the black community spends the most money in the beauty world out of any demographic, and I hope you feel the absence of their support monetarily. If you aren't black and decide to patronize this establishment, ask yourself why. Because it certainly can't be because they're outstanding at what they do... LOOK at my nails! read more
