I did a mani with standard polish. Instead of a fan to dry, they use black light with a fan. Well this light caused my polish to curl (metallic) and when I went back in to get it fixed, owner acted as if I did something wrong. She then instructed me to sit and wait, with no indication of how long. After ten minutes I gave up and left. I happened to pass by Qticles with my BF and mentioned that I didn't know there was a salon there. He told me he knew people who really liked it. After chastising him for withholding valuable information, I made an appointment for a desperately overdue deluxe pedi and a mani. The space is nice and open, airy and white which lends a clean feeling overall. The whimsical flower lights make it feel fun and less clinical. The massage chair was comfy and worked well. I failed to request gel for my mani but luckily for me, Anna, my technician, agreed to take the extra time for it. I rarely get a deluxe pedi, but I have been extremely lax this summer and I needed the extra pampering. Anna delivered. She was excellent and had just the right touch. She was a fun person to talk with and we had a great conversation about local restaurants. While my feel rested in paraffin, she shaped my nails with smart multitasking. I would have loved to experienced this place but it wasn't an option! I was in town visiting for a funeral and had a dire need to get my nails done. I walked in the door and immediately the woman at the counter began shaking her head at me. I was a little put off by her frowned expression and I could see the black and white sign on the desk that says, "We reserve the right to refuse service". But I pressed on assuming that meant if someone were unkept or unruly; but not so. I walked up and asked for s manicure appointment at around 9/10AM and the woman said, "we don't have any appointments available, we're fully booked today". I did review their website before coming in and did not see ANY MENTION of it being an appointment only establishment. I also looked around to see that aside from the Asian women workers, there were no women of color receiving services, which leads me to believe that this establishment does not service black women. I was not unkept nor unclean so aside from being a black woman seeking services I can't imagine why this place refused my patronage. It guess the good news is that because this place turned me away I found a better nail salon not far away (Polished Nail Salon). This is my warning to black and brown women looking to spend your green dollars for nail services, save yourself the disrespect of coming to this place and seek out services elsewhere! read more

I went to Q-ticles for the very first time today for a spa pedicure. I was slightly hesitant (as a bad pedi from an establishment that shall remained unnamed) caused major infection and resulted in surgical procedures.... Q-ticles assured me all tools are sterilized and files/sponges/etc are tossed after each use. Lots of amazing colors to chose from here for manis and pedis. It is always so difficult for me to decide on a color. My nail technician was Anna. She was so friendly and kind. She did such a great job I may have fallen asleep for a few minutes! My toes look so nice they look fake. Seriously. And my bothersome calluses are almost not existent. Also, the chairs are amazing at this salon. I highly recommend and do plan on returning. I wanted to update my rating after having gone back a few times, and this past month reminded me of why I like going to Qticles so much. Their friendly atmosphere, attention to detail, and artistry. I had an acrylic set put on and they look PHENOMENAL. I used to have my acrylics done by a salon that dealt mainly with acrylic and my nails never looked as Instagram-ready as these do. Emily took so much care filing and making sure they were smooth and lump-free, and then again to shape them uniformly. She didn't scrimp on anything and it shows. Today was my first visit, and most likely my last. I was greeted by the receptionist and told to pick my polish. She was polite, but that's where it ended. The young lady that did my pedicure was less than personable. I noticed other guests being offered water or tea, I wasn't. The only conversation we had was her asking if I was just getting a regular pedicure or what. The pedicure itself was sub par, I was not impressed. The salon itself is beautiful, but first impressions mean a lot. I was less than happy. Update: 3 days post pedicure. The owner offered me 50% off my next service because of the less than favorable experience. Now, that is an awesome gesture. Unfortunately, my updated review is more disappointing. Day three and it looks terrible. You can really see how uneven my nails were cut/filed. The polish job looks bad too. You can see where she missed and didn't clean up the cuticle very well. i have never loved my nails more! i went to get a gel manicure and showed the nail tech a design i wanted. the first time around it honestly turned out very poorly to the point where i contacted them about it and showed them pictures of the original manicure. they were absolutely amazing about it and got me in for an appointment later that day, and happy (my personal favorite tech there) redid my nails with the design i wanted and they look amazing! regardless of what tech you have you'll definitely be getting a quality manicure, but i don't always recommend getting designs here read more

I planned to call first thing Tuesday morning, but the owner, Quan, beat me to the punch! He phoned even though I didn't leave a voicemail just to make sure I was taken care of. I've been visiting Q-ticles just about every other week for manicures and/or pedicures, and I've always left extremely happy with my experience there. The atmosphere is extremely relaxing; when I get my nails done, I want a quiet, calm environment, and that's exactly what Q-ticles offers. The last time I was in, all of the pedicure stations were full, and it was STILL quiet in there! What's really cool about this place is that the pedicure chairs go really far back so you can truly relax while being pampered. My nail techs here have always been extremely professional and friendly - I'm truly impressed by this place! So far, this is my favorite overall nail place in Milwaukee! I used to go to Glow, but they recently have kind of gone downhill. I moved to Shorewood and heard good things about the pedicures. Sure enough, my fiance at the time made us both appointments the week of our wedding just to get away and relax and oh, we did. The place was really quiet and nice and had a great atmosphere. Clean and sterile but modern and chic and still warm. The music is Muzak I think but its actually nice Muzak. Like with guitar arrangements and not just weird synthesizers. I actually enjoyed it. Here is the BEST parts: 1. The no chip manicure is truely a no chip. Me and my mom have been there several times for no chips and they have lasted the entire 2 weeks that they claim they will. (not true at some other nail places) 2. The pedicure chairs are the best in town. They go ALL THE WAY BACK! During the massage part of pedicure (you are already getting a great chair massage) they tell you to put the chair all the way back and your feet are in the air and you get your leg and foot massage like that! I almost feel asleep. 3. Attentive and take their time. I have never felt rushed or like they were not taking the time to do a good job. In fact, I once ruined my nails because I was the one in a hurry and rushed the drying process. The guy was so nice and fixed it and tried to speed my drying with a spray and a light and anything he could do to help me. I really recommend them highly! read more

This place is AMAZING! I was in WI for business and my nails were in dire need of a manicure. I called Q-ticles and they gave me a 6 pm appointment. Anna was wonderful and gave me the best treatment. She took time to talk with me, suggest colors and took her time doing my gel manicure. The shop closes at 7:30 but Anna didn't rush to get finished. I think the nail technicians are great. Nice work and nice people. This is not my first time there, but it has been a long while since last time. I realize its Covid, but I think my situation could have been handled more professionally. Are texts okay/professional when communicating with customers? I had issues with scheduling. I made a phone call for mani/pedi, and left a voice mail. I got a text back regarding available time. After some back and forth texting, it was confirmed by text. When I arrived I was told that I would only be able to get the pedicure. There was no apology from scheduler. Technicians, two of them that were there, apologized. I made an appt for the manicure the next day, 11:45. At around 10:15, I received a text that I could come at 11:15. I said okay. I then received another text that the appt was available at 11, but 11:15 would still be okay if I wanted that. I confirmed 11:15. When I arrived, I was told I would have to wait 10 minutes because they were behind. Meantime I paid cash for manicure. When I left, I gave cash tip to technician and left. The scheduler/ receptionist came after me and yelled my name when I was 1/2 block away and asked me if I had payed! I am retired and live nearby, thus I have flexibility. If I was working or had other commitments, I might decide not to return to the salon again. Based on these events, perhaps texting is not the most professional with salon customers. Post note - The owner called me to apologize, right after seeing this. I appreciate the call. There were extenuating circumstances and he is working to assure this does not happen again. Based on this follow up, I will go back to this salon for their quality service and hopefully the scheduling will go smoother in the future. read more

Went to pedi chair & even confirmed price being $40 for pedicure (I had an issue with place in July about pricing so I thought this time I would make sure I was clear on pricing!) She said yes! Never mentioned that shellac was a different price! Finished the spa pedicure thinking it was $40 but found out it was $70!!!! $30 for shellac polish which doesn't require anything different but applying it like regular polish! $30 for polish!!! Are you kidding me!!! No where would you be charged $30 for 2 coats of shellac polish. Had my first pedi here today, and I think it was the most relaxing I've ever had. The lady who did my pedi really took her time with the filing and "maintenance". She used the most incredible lemongrass scrub that smelled fresh and invigorating. When it was time for the foot/calf massage, the massage chairs fully reclined, putting me in the most comfortable position. I called in the morning to request two appointments for my friend and I for a pedicure and manicure, they were able to get us both in at 3:30 pm. I requested SPA Pedicure and Manicure for both of us. We were greeted upon walking in and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this place was! Excellent selection of OPI nail polish and awesome atmosphere. We were taken back to the pedicure "thrown" and the receptionist/owner showed how to work the massaging chair *note these were very weak* and then left me to soak for 30 minutes while my friend had her service started right away. Long story short, I was "upgraded" to a "spa" pedicure for the inconvenience which was a nice gesture, but I requested that service to begin with. Polish looks nice, I have had better pedicures (more foot scrubbing and massaging) but again it was relaxing. Manicure: They appraently forgot that I wanted the spa one and at this point the girls were in a hurry to get out for the night (they close early on Mondays). My nails look nice and the price was fine at 15.00, but be advised that this is a very basic manicure and on day two I have chips.
