This is my favorite park in St. Petersburg. The Gorgeous Pink "Vinoy" across the street from the Park gives it a unique Deco Vibe & lovely vintage upscale feel. It's also across the street from one of my favorite restaurants. La vie en rose! OuiOui. The views are spectacular of the bay, in the early morning fog, with the Vinoy in the backdrop, it is reminiscent of a 1930's epic Hollywood movie set. One of the most romantic places to take a stroll with the one you love or just by yourself.. A perfect place to ponder, watch the boats go by. North Straub Park is 4.8 acres and it is located in downtown St. Petersburg along Tampa Bay. The park has scenic water views, paved trails for exercise, and a stage for events. Across the street is a variety of restaurants and stores. During the winter holidays the park is fully decorated and during the test of the year the trees have lights. You can see the new pier from the park along with dolphin and manatee that swim by North Straub Park is named in honor of St Pete Times editor, William L. Straub. He purchased the St. Petersburg Times in 1901 and served as its editor or associate editor for 38 years until his death in 1939. During his time at the paper he was concerned about over development of the waterfront. He used his paper's editorial page to push the city council to buy the port which they eventually did. He also thought the residents of St. Petersburg were getting less services than the larger city of Tampa. After five years he was able to get St. Petersburg made part of the brand new Pinellas County. Although the park is named for Straub, his real legacy is the preserved five miles of riverfront in St. Petersburg. read more

Beautiful beautiful park!!! And at night is soooo pretty too. You can park on the streets and pay with the park mobile app. There's plenty of spaces so you won't have a problem. I liked to walk around the park, take pictures, sit down and relax. read more

Nothing better than bumping into a beautiful park with some incredible views while on vacation (except maybe ice cold beer). North Straub Park is right next to The Museum of Fine Arts and features two massive Banyan Trees. Pictures do not do them justice - they are truly wild, massive, sculpture like trees in person. Great photo op! The park has views of the North Yacht Basin and Tampa Bay that are gorgeous. Lots of green grass to run around on and play Frisbee. During non- COVID times they have food festivals/concerts here. There is street parking with meters that won't break the bank. Great place for a walk, shoes on or shoes off, and to feel a nice breeze! read more

I'm just an all around outdoorsy person so I love the parks in Downtown St. Pete. What makes it so perfect is that on one side, you have the side walks of shops, boutiques, and restaurants. The parks are in the middle which are kept up very nice, often have art festivals, or other festivals in them. My dog can roam around and play on the grass, and the beautiful huge banyan trees hang so nicely. It's a perfect backdrop for pictures. The other side of the park across the street is the water. You can see the boats parked in the marina, and you just have a happy sense of Florida. It's a great place to be. There's so much going on around you. At Christmas time, they have Christmas lights. You walk through the park, and it's as if you are in a perfect surreal Christmas Movie. read more

We live downtown and feel very lucky to have this beautiful park at our doorstep! We attend all the fabulous events and art shows they have throughout the year. My son and his girlfriend enjoy movies in the park! Being by the water with the beautiful boats lends a view beyond the greenery. The most AMAZING trees are a beautiful canopy, as well! Small park in downtown St Pete. It's not your typical park because it doesn't have a playground; basically, it's an area of glass between Beach Drive and the water. It, however, has some beautiful banyan trees among other trees and they're all decorated with lights that lit up when the sun goes down. This park gives a nice calming feel amongst the business of downtown St Pete. I haven't spent much time at this park, there are benches to sit on, but I've walked across it many times going from my parked car to one of the restaurants on Beach. On this check-in occasion I was there to volunteer for the St Anthony's Triathlon. The whole park is transformed into a very festive Expo the Friday and Saturday prior to the triathlon. I love being in dt St Pete and love seeing dt St Pete filled with people. read more

Straub Park split by North and South by 2 Avenue North. The South Park tends to have a little less activity, however it does have quite a bit of modern art and some classic statues. It also has a nice sidewalk area that cuts straight through the middle of the park. Yesterday I tool my 3 year old to North Straub Park for the Painting in the Park event sponsored by the Museum of Fine Arts in downtown St. Pete which is adjacent to the park. It was a great time. The banyan trees that line the area provide a lot of shade and the wide space in the middle of the park was a perfect clearing for the kites that we made with the help of the St. Pete Kite Club. Several other community vendors where there including Amley and Amley orthodontics were there making thumb molds for the kids which as a former brace-face I loved. Lydia's is so small they were able to mold her entire hand. Straub Park is located downtown St. Petersburg between the gorgeous waterfront that holds the Classic St. Pete pier and St. Pete Yacht Club. On the other side is the very hip happening area filled with restaurants, bars and novelty shops. Currently in construction is the Baywalk area which houses a great movie theater that usually has a least a handful of independent films plus the latest blockbuster. This park is a great place to people watch, have a picnic and let your kid run in the open field. This was the location of our first family photos! This park was also the host of Snowfest. Snowfest kicked off with a Christmas parade that ended with the arrival of Santa which sets up camp for at the park for the holiday season. There are times posted for families to take kids to talk to Santa, a mailbox that is directly for connected to the North Pole and every things is decorated with festive lights. From tree lighting to ice skating to illuminated boat parade it is a great place to enjoy during the holidays. During the month of May, there are movies in the park that are free of charge. Some vendors are there, seating is first come first serve. There is a good selection of movies including a family friendly option, this year is E.T. July 4th there are fireworks on the water, there always seems to be something happening at Straub Park. Parks aren't always just places for kids to climb on playground equipment. Parks are places where communities can gather and enjoy the outdoors; fresh air and this park is ideal for just that. read more

Whether it is a Christmas Tree Lighting or Movies in the Park, North Straub Park is a fair sized and very fun green space smack in the middle of the restaurant laden Beach Drive in Downtown St. Pete. I have come here a few times for Movies in the Park. It is during the months of October and May (almost guaranteed not too hot or cold). They play well rounded movies that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. For example, I watched "When Harry Met Sally" and "Goonies" here. Recently they projected on the side the museum next door and that seemed to make for a better experience because when a screen was used it flapped around in the wind some. MOVIES IN THE PARK ARE AWESOME! If reviewed in isolation, Movies in the Park would probably get 5 stars. The Christmas Tree lighting is not quite as amazing. Don't get me wrong, it was fun and cute, but this being my first year in attendance, I did kind of expect a little more. The lighting ceremony could be more exciting with more bells and whistles. They need more build up to the final lighting. Nevertheless, this is a great community event at a great park. Overall, North Straub Park has a lot of offer. It is not has big as Vinoy Park, which is surely more of a recreational park, but North Straub is comfortable and relaxing and a great place to stroll before or after dinner. As I tried to highlight in this review, North Straub Park is excellent for community events! read more

Great park with an awesome view! I've been here for the Tampa Bay AidsWalk and St Anthony's Triathlon/Expo! Parking is not a problem. It's great for a walk or run by the water. Tennis courts and the pool is near by. You can also walk towards Beach Drive to all the great shops & restaurants, not forgetting the Museum of Fine Arts! It's a fabulous location! If I ever considered moving to St Pete, it would be very close to this park! You can also take a healthy run to Snell Island from here as well I would definitely consider a picnic here! read more

We love coming to the park on a nice weekend day and playing frisbee in the grass. It is such a great small park with an amazing view. When may or October rolls around then we always hit up movies in the park on Thursdays during those months. The st Pete preservation group puts on the event and it's perfect. You can bring your own food and drinks or buy them from the vendors they have. Then sit back and enjoy a classic movie shown on a blown up screen facing the water. It's the perfect way to spend an evening in the park. read more
