They have been neglecting the dog park area and my dog ended up with hot spots. Exposed dirt, holes with cones everywhere and mud puddles, no thank you. We didn't go for months as I was afraid to have it happen again. They since cleaned it but are back to neglecting it. Beautiful medium size park situated around Crescent Lake. Lots and lots of birds of all varieties. They have a wonderful paved loop around the lake.The lake is very well kept and they have a wildflower area. Lush vegetation surrounds the lake and attracts and assortment of wildlife. This is a very large and beautiful park near downtown St Pete that has a fantastic walking trail around a gorgeous lake filled with all kinds of Florida birds: herons, pelicans, ibis. The walk is long enough to use as an actual hiking or exercise trail and also shows off the parks many trees, including a massive Banyan tree. There is so many animals to see at this park. The sidewalk trail is just about a mile. As we were walking around the pretty lake we saw many squirrels, ducks and duckling, ibis, moorhen, cormorant, anhinga, and a heron actually eating a fish. read more

It is said that on this field Babe Ruth once drank 100 Schlitz cocktails in one sitting before he then met his wife for dinner (and enjoyed some wine). The cons: 1. The sun will burn your skin if you don't wear protection. It once turned Ed Reilly's dad into a lobster. 2. The umpires are terrible. I got called out on a strike three against Rochester that was easily a ball and a half off the plate and the ump didn't even say he was sorry. read more

Nice park, but some of the elderly women (mostly the ones with short haircuts) need to get a grip on reality. They are miserable beyond belief and will try to drain whatever life you have in you -- perhaps to leech it for their own use -- but regardless they are to be avoided. Enjoy the park, like I do. I am a runner so I tend to run in trails in the local parks. I have always ran in this park because it was close to home when I lived in the area, now that I live further up I still drive down here to do my run . You may ask why? I'll tell you why. The park has three running trails of different lengths so you can choose which one you want to do. I run the outer train which I which 1 1/10 of a mile. Today I decided to do my eight mile run. If you want to train for longer runs I would say this the park in to train . Most parks close when it's dark and they close the gates but this park is open to the public all the time and there are cops that patrol it so you feel safe. It is also very lit so your not running in complete darkness like other parks. There are always people around especially families around so your never alone in the park. I have not been bothered here so I feel very safe . Okay, so it is great place to run and walk your dog but it is very busy especially around peak times which is 6:30 to 8:00 pm meaning the trails have people on them and you have to walk around them if they don't give you room to do so, many times they do. So if you do not like crowded places you may be frustrated. The park is always keapt up very well and I have no problems running. It is well maintained which makes me happy . read more

This has to be one of the best parks in St Pete because it is my new favorite place to go for a picnic or a park nap in the shade. A shady park is apparently hard to find in FL - not everything needs to have palm trees people! Palm trees don't give much shade. This park has lots of shady areas near a decent size lake and plenty of benches to relax in while taking in the view. A great park for a run because they have a paved trail about a mile long with markers. There is also a seemingly pretty popular swing and playground area for kids. read more

Fabulous place to stop by for a planned run, date picnic, or simply a stroll with your pooch. This is a decent size park with a mile running marked sidewalk around it for those fitness enthusiasts. There are many trees so you can usually find shade up to 9-10am. It is gorgeous and sprawling with lots of greenery. The breeze off of the lake makes is a very pleasant run. The only issue I have as a runner is that there is not a fountain for a sip of water, unless I missed it. There is ample parking all around the park on the street. There is no parking lot, but I've never had a problem finding parking whether morning or night, weekday or weekend. No meters either. Being a pet owner, there is a small fenced doggy park It is split by the weight of the dogs. There is even a dog water fountain which is really nice. The bird life, geese and ducks, are fun to see from a distance, but...they are a bit of nuisance when driving because they loiter on the streets. They also stay in the park because some locals do feed them (I've seen them). There are geese all over the park and there is poop everywhere on the side walks. :( In some places you have to pick around it when walking. Overall I rate this park a 4 because it is a pleasant environment that is quite relaxing. Only the lack of fountain and the pesky birds that are encouraged by the locals are my hiccups. read more

I have to say that this is one of the local parks that I frequent more often. It has everything you need. Dog park for the pup, playground for the kids, and lots of area to play football or soccer with the guys. Maybe even have a picnic with the family. The park is pretty clean, but watch out for the geese droppings when they are around. I come here a lot to run my dog on my longboard or just have a jog around the lake. I've even been out there late night and never once had any concern about safety. A nice area filled with nice people. Oh, there also is fishing, but only during a certain part of the year. Beautiful park! I can't believe this is in the middle of St Pete. You kind of forget you're in the city when you're here. There were lots of people here when we came on the weekend. Kids playing, people running/walking, bird watching, walking their dogs. We did a lap around the lake with our dog. I enjoyed watching all of the different types of birds. I could probably name like...3, but it was fun making up names for them with my son. :) There was a children's playground area, a small dog park, and plenty of benches to sit on and just relax. Lots of open grassy areas too. I did see signs to watch for alligators in the lake, but didn't see any (thankfully lol). This is definitely one of my favorite parks in the area. read more

This is one of my all time favorite parks and one of the best in St. Pete. There is something for everyone here. A lake to enjoy and walk around. A dog park for your four legged friends. A playground area for children. The park has some areas for you to catch some sun and a lot of shady areas as well. The variety of trees make it picturesque. The only downside is that when there are several ducks and birds around the lake, the sidewalk is not as attractive, if you catch my drift. Love this park! It is very well kept, the city does a great job. There is a heavy duck and goose population, as well as an assortment of turtles, and Florida native birds. I've even seen otters here! The Banyon trees are lovely, as is most of the park. There is a playground, a dog park for small and large dogs, and a tennis court that has lights. read more

Beautiful place!! I visited this on a whim while my vehicle was being worked on at the local shop on 9th & 9th. I walked to the park and was immediately grabbed by the lush green lawn, the folks playing some outdoor games and the walking track. There are many different birds and geese which I made the silly mistake of walking up to lol.... I was immediately greeted with a loud honking and they were giving me the 'what for' because I approached empty handed! If you are easily intimidated by these birds I wouldn't recommend approaching them - I squatted down and they are big and bold enough to walk very close to you... And they look you in the eye! I returned to the park after my vehicle was finished with proper food in hand (not bread or junk food ) and sat amongst them and was greeted by all. Hand fed and even got to pet a couple of the geese. All in all - a wonderful place to go and just enjoy! read more

I love this park! Right "behind" 4th street is one of the best parks in the area. This is the perfect place to walk your dog, read, run, work-out, etc. While most of the park is not shaded, there's plenty of spots that are if you want to rest for a bit. Lots of birds live here, notably a huge flock of geese that do not like people! That being said, they are very fun to see. There's ample parking near the water tower, or you can just park on the side of the park. The park features a dog park section and a small children's playground. One thing I do not like about this park is the huge sections of dog poop that are often smeared on the sidewalk. No exaggerating here, it's pretty awful. Thankfully the rain helps take care of that! read more

THINGS TO DO Within the big expanse of grass I've seen martial artists, dancers, and many games of football or playful dogs. There are also enough benches circling the water to just relax. A nearby softball field allows for more organized sports while a good-sized playground provides children with fun. EXPERIENCE This isn't a park for privacy--you HAVE to share the limited sidewalk with others. The entire area has a very open design meaning there aren't many clumps of trees to get some privacy. And there aren't many areas to park so expect to just parallel park alongside. However, this is a clean park with beautiful views from all directions. read more

I absolutely love this park. I wish I lived closer to it! It's huge and has a trail that wraps around a nice lake. There's tons of grassy areas to spread out for a picnic or a game of frisbee. The trail is perfect for walking or running. Although it's a bit of a narrow path so be ready to dodge others. At the end of the park is a small dog park, which me and my pup enjoy. No grass there...just lots of wood chips. But there are lots of dogs and they're all good dogs with nice owners. read more

In my business, sometimes you need a constantly crowded and moving place (where dogs double as covers) to pass along information--Crescent Park fills the bill. No matter the time, humans gallop, trot, or push strollers in that strange ritualistic dance around the main sidewalk surrounding the lake. The occasional cyclist assassin has threatened to flatten me, but mostly the rather thin sidewalk still provides a semblance of human sanity. The somewhat large field to one side is a stage for all sorts of bizarre behavior. Overall, this park allows me to pass secret messages via pooch delivery within their four-legged park while allowing myself some people watching amusement: the lake is the center of amusement here and there is always some elderly person feigning bewilderment at their sudden entrapment among ducks once they decide to feed just one. read more

This place is absolutely beautiful. The lawn is well-kept, and the trees are gorgeous. In the way of wildlife, there are lots of turtles, ducks, geese, other birds, and even two otters living in the sparkling lake. Around the park is a one mile path, but this can be shortened by sticking to the the part that goes right around the lake. Along with these things, there are tennis courts. There's also a playground and a dog park. Overall, this is a great place to come relax, hang with the family, or be active. read more

Crescent lake park is large and there's a nice walkway around the boarder. There's a lake and a small play structure near the water. However, not a lot of interesting plants and no sculptures or art. It's a decent spot for making laps or hanging in an open lot, but not much more. read more

As far as parks to walk, and bring your kids to this is one of my top choices. I will give the few negatives, prior to the positives (as there are far more positives, but the negatives are enough for me to NOT give 5 stars.) I don't recommend free range parents to come to this park. There are often too many "big kids" there who do not care one tiny bit about a little one that they run over. I have an almost 1 year old and almost 3 year old. I have had several instances of kids 10-12 years old who have parents "with" them but not paying the least bit of attention to them. I realize this is a parenting issue and not to do with the park, but this park is hugely popular for kids and I just want to be honest! My son was about 7 or 8 months old when a 10 year old boy kicked a soccer ball into the playground and it hit my sleeping baby in the face. I then proceeded to tell the kid that the ball would be mine if I saw them with it on the playground again. I said y'all need to get out on the field and mind the other people around you! The other negative is that a LOT of people bring their dogs and they are not all socialized or "good" dogs to have around kids and a park environment. Now in BOTH situations these are isolated incidents, however, they can ruin the park for everyone when bad kids and bad dogs (mostly off leash) cause problems. But you need to keep an eye on your kids! For runners or adults coming on their own and NOT using the playground I think this is one of the best parks in St. Pete. There is usually a shady area, there is almost always a breeze, and the park is very picturesque. You can have loads of fun at this park and enjoy it with your family or dogs! Or both! read more

Beautiful park with a large lake in the middle. Always abundance of variety of birds. See many feeding the ducks and geese. On one side of the lake is kids' playground. I see many happy children and chatty moms all the time. Large open field allows people play, fly kites, have picnics, tan, or play with their pups. I feel like it's too close to the road to let mine off the leash though... If you are like me, not to worry, there's dog park on the opposite side of the lake. Unfortunately, that park is the reason for 4 stars. I have small dogs. The area for them is tiny. No place to really run around. It's also not very grassy and my dogs constantly coming out muddy or dirty (depending on weather). Needless to say, we pass the dog park almost every time we are there. read more

The dog park is a little tricky to find if you are not looking for it. It's located next to the tennis courts and softball field. There are quite a bit of shade and benches for you to sit and enjoy the scenery. One of the highlights of the park is the wildlife. There are lots birds and fish to checkout.
