My complaint is not about the class starting 30 minutes late, but about North Valley Swim's suspect business practices. At the end of class, we were strongly encouraged to write a positive review in exchange for a free CPR mask. I passed. And three weeks later, I have yet to receive the CPR certification for which I demonstrated my knowledge. It is wrong to condition a CPR certificate on writing a good review. While I very much appreciate this move and definitely had a good class, I still believe there should be an easier way to communicate with this company. We are all under stress and handling very tough situations at this time. Multiple communication lines should always be open. Wish I could write a good review as the instructor was lovely and the class was clear and effective but I still have not received a CPR certificate and it's been 2 weeks. karla was my instructor and she was outstanding. clear in her instructions, reassuring, and extremely knowledgeable. unfortunately, this update isn't about karla but about bradley cohen. i took this training on january 18, 2020. it'll almost be one year since completing the blended course (online and in-person) and i've got nothing to show for it. i contacted north valley swim twice (a month apart, back in jan/feb 2020) and was told both times that my certificate would be sent out same day. alright, sweet, it seemed like small team handling it all so i understood the delay. i waited and waited and one month turned into two. the world shut down but almost one year later, i'm just left confused. what happened? why lie? the one shady practice that i thought was genius was getting people to write a good review for north valley swim in exchange for a plastic CPR face mask *at the end of the training* ensuring that this yelp page is flooded with 5-star reviews while ALSO scamming you out of $69 and a CPR/first aid certificate. read more

It has been a long time since I had been certified in CPR and first aid, so long that it was before AED training was available. That said I am confident and competent in CPR and first aid due to other training through CERT, Boy Scouts and other programs where it is reviewed. This was the most poorly organized and run class I have ever attended. The Class was supposed to cover CPR, AED and, First Aid. The email sent out did not include the location, I had to go back to the Red Cross website in order to find the address and parking is horrendous. Our class showed up at our designated time only to find the previous class was running 15 minutes late and the website states that if you are late you will have to reschedule and pay a fee to do so. Our course only covered CPR and choking on adults and infants and the training was marginal at best. It did not cover checking the mouth for obstructions, sweeping the mouth, AED or any first aid at all. For multiple people in the class this was their first introduction to all of this and I felt this class was totally inadequate for a for anyone to be certified. The AED machine was not working, the projector was broken, there were no first aid supplies in sight and the mannequins had tape over the mouths because you were not to breathe in them (this last part can be typical for some agencies but they should be working on getting new training devices). If you are looking for an inexpensive certification this is the place but if you are looking for how to help people please do not take this class. read more

After I edited my last review to express my concerns about not getting my certificate in time. The owner stepped in and fixed it right away. I understand all this is happening during a very stressful time in the country and I appreciate the efforts he and his team put in to get the problem fixed for me.
