A large majority of the full CPR, AED, and First Aid class was spent sitting there watching videos. We did get to practice some and have questions/answers for the CPR and AED parts. But the First Aid portion was all sitting and watching, not getting to practice or apply anything. The teachers were cool and there was free parking. But overall, it just fell short of what was expected and advertised as.

Her energetic and upbeat personality makes it fun and rememberable to learn, while practicing the correct procedures and techniques. In the class, we repeatedly went over the techniques until we had confidence with using an AED machine, administering CPR, helping a choking person, and applying First Aid to someone who is bleeding. My 3-12-23 training was all of the aforementioned and so much more delivered by instructor Marcus Jones. He melded critical data, science, compassion and humor all within a concise two-hour class. I left confident that if need be, I can do this. Enroll in classes online for both in person and online training however, I was unable to access https://www.bhcpr.org to include a link to training in this update for such both yesterday and today. I believe that the instructors, staff, and administrators are very good, and that they care about the students. This is the type of school that is worth tax payer dollars, if we are going to pay for anything, it should be helping those who are underserved, and underrepresented, continue and complete their education, and get stable careers. This is the type of school that changes lives for the better, and builds better communities, helps families be more stable, and is ultimately a help to the world. I just wish they had more art and design based tech classes, graphic design, auto-cad, architecture courses etc, I would definitely take those courses, but that's a very small gripe. The program is fast paced, but it covers a wide range of skills, including vital signs, EKGs, venipuncture, injections, patient care, and safety procedures. One of the biggest advantages is that the school is tuition-free, although students are responsible for purchasing their own materials. The school does offer financial assistance through other programs such as Work Source & Para Los Niños so if you're struggling financially do not be discouraged to apply! The medical assistant program also includes clinical hours, which provide valuable hands on experience in a real world setting.
