He has had yearly physicals and vaccinations all through Eastbrook. This is only the 3rd time we've needed attention for minor injuries. At best, from past experience, it would probably be a 15 minute "in the exam room" visit. I called today and was told they couldn't see him for approximately another 2 weeks!!!! What is the point of being a client when we can't even get our dog seen for a minor injury? We were told to try other vets in the area. My suspicion is the practice now turns all their time to "well visits" to make the most amount of money. I called the veterinarian we used with our other dogs (switched due to a move and proximity to our new home) and they had an appointment for us the next day. Needless to say, we will be making a longer trek for healthcare for our pet and no longer using Eastbrook.

There was no snap judgement of what was wrong with my girl, but a concentrated effort to get to the correct diagnosis, all while they treated her with respect, gentleness, and kindness. He explained my options thoroughly. I was not pressured into making any decisions I was not ready to make. He spent the time to answer my questions and didn't make me feel like I was taking up to much of his time. Each staff member I came in contact with showed compassion and a general desire to be of assistance. Great experience for me and my pet. A special call out to Amber as she took my call about my pet, realized the gravity I was feeling and made sure to get me in as soon as possible. Then, while I was at the clinic, came in, introduced herself, and checked on how things were going. Also I can't thank the two young ladies that helped me with the mobility of my dog. They helped get her in and out of my truck without hurting her further. As my pet is about 70 lbs. this was greatly appreciated. BEWARE - do not bring your pet here. My dog (6 y.o. rescue…read moremix - very healthy, luckily!) had a non-complicated ear laceration surgery at Tolland location, having come out of it with 2(!!) superbly antibiotics resistant nasty bacterias in her - Pseudomonas Aeruginosa and Staphylococcus Epidirmidis. Both are common hospital infections, and the former can live on surfaces (even dry!) for 4 years - so, be cautious! My dog had not been exposed to any other unusual environment or change in routine, except this surgery. I have two other dogs, who are constantly together and have no signs of these infections. The only uncommon thing that happened was - this surgery. If this bacteria is bread in un-/under-sanitary surgical room or hospital (with all facts present - this is the only highly likely source of infection), it's extremely difficult for them to eradicate. ...so, here we are $2k+ and counting! Here is the rest of facts: They took a week (!) to run lab/test results for Pseudomonas A., which is susceptible (conveniently) to only 1 recommended antibiotic that get administered every 4hrs. via IV, requiring hospitalization. When they realized I'm not willing to hospitalize my dog, they prescribed an antibiotic that's only intermittently effective against this bacteria, that's got an explicit warning to NOT use in dogs, as it's causing bone marrow suppression. If the above is not preposterous enough, they had just notified me, 2 WEEKS after surgery, that there was another bacteria discovered in that same sample - a staph! My dog contracted 2 nasty and extremely hard to kill bacterias as a result of the surgery. I am attaching a copy of the lab testing result here and happy to share the remainder of documented information with anyone who's still on the fence to keep, take their pet to or start brining them to Fenton River practice. I personally strongly advise against it. The risk to your pet's health IS NOT WORTH IT. My experience with them speaks to incompetence, pet ailment she didn't have before and wouldn't have otherwise that I need to continue caring for weeks, and if I had to apply simple terminology - medical negligence.

She had a skin issue that was making her gnaw at her fur and it got very matted within literally three days and with infected sores. The doctor pointed out that I couldn't prove that the matting didn't come first- insinuating that it was because she is due for a grooming.... which is why we are here in the first place to be seen to make a grooming appointment.....they basically didn't believe me that she had been experiencing a skin irritation prior to this that made her hair extremely matted in that spot. I would be willing to remove this review if my next visit proves to be better- they also tried to make me muzzle her myself and I had to go back to get them to put on the cone collar when I couldn't get it on her... meaning this is something they should already be doing for the price of the visit. There was just a sort of negative energy all around and I really hope it can be improved. It's not just about serving the dogs- it's customer service. The best part was when the girl shoved my dog's shaved off fur into my face rudely to show as proof of my maltreatment of my dog, seemingly. Steve- what specifically was said? It was the way she said it and her tone - was nasty. Hope that makes sense. The appointment setter said nothing I had experienced had happened and hung up on me. And she said no it's not that's why I asked if you wanted an estimate in kind of a rude way...I said ok sure ( in my mind I was like why not just have the estimate ready and hand it to me lol?). I said my dog needed dental surgery bc my last doc called it that-plaque removal- and she argued that no it's not surgery in a very pissed off way it felt to me. Then she brought the fur as a trophy and seemed to be shoving it in my face and seemed mad about it- she kept saying it was matted do you see? As if I can't see it.... I don't think this is great customer service do you? When I said she needed to back off basically and get out my face lol she angrily slammed a book/ laptop (it was startling so I wasn't paying attention to what it was) on the desk. Edit- these people are lying. Look at all the negative reviews they have. They are the ones who are inappropriate and rude- don't ever go here- I will never take this down. YOUR treatment of people is aggressive- and this will come back to you in karma. You are wrong here and you should be reported to the better business bureau. The girl at the desk is a full blown liar- she just says what we she wants in response to what I'm saying on the phone to make me sound so crazy to her audience- I'm merely asking basic care questions.
