So one day I decided to come into this place in my hood and it was the best decision ever - the doctor that conducts the vision examination is super professional, attentive and gives you all the information possible about the diagnoses or changes in your prescription. The rest of the team was incredibly welcoming and very smiley too, helped me pick a new pair of glasses based on my facial features. I noticed I was being followed very closely around the store and was repeatedly asked if that was "all" before I'd even had a chance to properly look at anything. What stood out even more was that this treatment seemed to be directed only at me and not at other customers of different races. Because of this, I decided to put everything back and leave. No one should feel singled out or unwelcome while simply shopping. I can't recommend a place that made me feel this way, and I won't support a business where I experienced what felt like discriminatory treatment.

Small differences can happen, but 20 degrees is unacceptable for a place that claims to be professional. Even then, I wasn't angry. The real nightmare started when I checked my glasses. I bought a handcrafted frame from Japan for more than $800 after tax--fragile, unique, and something I truly cherish. On the day they tried to "fix" their axis mistake, instead of handling it properly, they decided to bend my frame without my consent. Now it's distorted, misshapen, and looks awful. They brushed it off as a "small adjustment." How ridiculous! Who bends a fragile Japanese frame to fix an optical prescription error?! I'm devastated and deeply disappointed by the way they treat their customers. And yes--it was Dr. Rebecca, the same name that appears in many other one-star reviews. Also, after few rounds of communication, the clinic refused to admit their mistake, still saying their intention was good, and the issue was small. The most irresponsible clinic I've ever encountered. A complete joke.

Great experience coming here. I booked my appointment with Dr. Stephanie Kong the day before and there is almost no wait in line to get your eyes checked in the morning. For a small location, their equipment is quite complete - they included retinal photo (for a bit of extra) with my eye exam. You can request for the photo to get emailed to you. Dr. Stephanie Kong was quite thorough in her check ups. The receptionist is also extremely friendly and notifies you if anything will cost you extra / is not covered by your insurance. Unfortunately, for PD sizing on your prescription, you do have to pay an extra $15-$20ish. And for those using insurance coverage, make sure to check their website for insurance requirement for specific carriers (e.g. for Manulife you have to set up direct deposit). read more

Came here for an eye exam after avoiding it for 5 years. I'm a complete wuss when it comes to getting my eyes checked. All doctors make me anxious especially the eye doctor. Since I couldn't see road signs anymore finally toughed it out. Asked friends & colleagues for a recommendation & they suggested North York Eye Clinic. Called them Saturday morning & got an appointment 2 hrs later. Was a little nervous when I got there. Dr. Kong is just an amazing doctor. Her humour, warmth & easy going personality put me at ease instantly. Very patient, answered all my questions. 40 min later we were done. Very pleasant to deal with. Not pushy about getting you buy glasses from them. Will definitely be back next year to see Dr. Kong again! read more

I've always been very uncomfortable with eye doctors, avoided getting my eyes checked for years. This was absolutely the best experience I have ever had at an optometrist office. I called to make an appointment with Dr. Stephanie Kong Saturday morning and was seen the same morning. Waited less than 5 min before seeing the doctor. Dr. Kong is extremely patient, personable, and friendly. Her warmth put me at ease instantly, we were done before I knew it. Dr. Kong is incredibly thorough, answered all my questions & made sure I understood. At no point did I feel rushed. Recently moved to the Sheppard/Yonge area last year & was due for an eye exam. Came in on a Saturday. I actually called Saturday morning and they squeezed me in 2 hours later. Had my exam with Dr. Kong. She was very through, answering all my questions in plain English. Never did I feel rushed. Zero pressure to buy glasses from them. Dr. Permack was extremely kind, patient, and attentive. He took the time to run a number of tests on my eyes and make sure I was completely satisfied with the final prescription he prescribed. I also really appreciated that Dr. Permack paid attention to my family's ocular history and ensured that he ran a cornea mapping exam with some fancy new equipment he had! What most impressed me with Dr. Permack was that he was able to teach me how to put in contact lens and found me a type that I really liked. I've been resisting contacts for years now, and was so surprised when he was able to give me a pair of contacts that I could barely feel and actually could see through! All in all, I would recommend Dr. Permack without hesitation. If you're looking for a talented, conscientious optometrist, make sure to give him a call. Bonus points: Dr. Permack has these hilarious test 'glasses' that you can put on that let you test the prescription he recommends. Ask him to try them on and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Second floor Parking: Freeeeeeeeee lot in the back but there's a bus stop The office: Open and clean, there's an area for sitting and waiting. Lots of information available for you to read about different eye conditions. There also a nice big area to fit contact lenses. The initial eye tests are done by the receptionist in a separate room. I had a very uncomfortable experience with Dr. Stanley Blair Fearon during my appointment on…read moreJanuary 8th at 9 a.m. After giving me extremely strong dilation drops without explaining the side effects, my pupils stayed fully dilated for over 24 hours and I woke up the next morning still blurry with a bad headache. This has never happened at any other eye clinic. What shocked me most was that after dilating my pupils, he handed me printed material about "dry eye symptoms" and told me to read it -- even though I literally could not see because my pupils were fully dilated. It felt dismissive and made no medical sense. He repeatedly blamed my vision issues on "dry eye" and even eyelash loss, instead of addressing the actual cloudiness I clearly described. When I asked about cataract surgery, he discouraged it immediately and warned me I could "lose vision" because I had previous retinal laser, but provided no proper explanation or follow-up plan. When I was visibly upset and confused, he ended the appointment by patting my shoulder -- a gesture that made me even more uncomfortable. Overall, I left feeling dismissed, uninformed, and physically unwell. I will not return and cannot recommend this clinic.

It is conveniently located at the corner of Markham Road & 16th Avenue. With all the traffic going on at that intersection, you can't miss it while you're waiting for the light to change. Even better for me, it was a very short 7-8 minute drive from my house. I called to see if i could get an appointment the next day. Thankfully, they were able to get me in within the hour. A few things that really stood out for me about Heritage Eye Care: They are open evening & weekends (10-3 on Saturday's!), conveniently located near transit, kid friendly and up to date equipment that my former eye doctor wasn't even using yet because she was so old school. The Optometrist I saw (Dr. Trinh) was very professional, informative and gave me some very helpful and crucial information for eye care. I ended up having to go to a hospital to see an Opthalmologist. He didn't just suggest MSH, but he referred me to one where i could get in immediately to have my eye concerns addressed immediately. For that i am so thankful (I called to thank them!). I no longer go to my Optometrist in North York and will be switching my hubby & kids over to Heritage Eye Care. **Yes, parking can be a bit of a problem, but The Garden Basket Plaza is across the street with a lot of parking spaces**
