I love this clinic, they are responsive, you can access records online via mychart, and the staff really care about their patients. I was having a lot of anxiety about symptoms, and Dr. Sawar Young-Tripp went above and beyond to ease my anxiety with various labs and tests. I've had terrible experiences in the past with Doctors, everything from pushing pharmaceuticals after a 5 min visit, negligence, and a few creepy unethical male doctors that I should have reported. The professionalism here renewed my trust in the process and I feel incredibly comfortable and trusting here. Highly recommend this clinic- ignore the bad reviews they are outdated. read more

I visit Dr. Hoopman every once in a while and it is always a great visit. I have never seen any of the other doctors, so I can't speak for them. Visiting Dr. Hoopman is like hanging out with a friend for however long our appointment is. She makes it very easy to trust her, and to even enjoy your visit. The nurse and administrative staff are always helpful, polite, and discreet. I enjoy the family-friendly atmosphere and the comfortable waiting room. If you have children, they have plenty of toys and books on hand. The staff often remembers me, which is a nice touch. I recommend Dr. Hoopman to my friends, however she is hardly ever accepting new patients. I am lucky to have her! read more

This practice has turned into the least caring place. Not the same quality of care as I've received 2 decades ago for my prenatal care. I was given bad medical advice, no tests ran and suffered with an injury to my dominant hand that has limited my use and caused me to be unable to function properly. No matter how much I advocated for myself I was ignored and defamed. I even went so far as to file a complaint with the medical board. They did nothing and closed the case. I am still disfigured and do not have full use of my hand, experience ongoing pain especially when the rain is coming, and am receiving physical therapy. During the last year, I was hung up on by a nurse and a staff member at NCC, because I refused to allow the same doctor that botched my care to see my children. I would advise anyone that is not happy with their care to go elsewhere outside of Humboldt. Because apparently they all stick together here. And get legal help as I will be doing to follow up on this ignored review from the medical board. And stay away from the old lady counselor. She is judgemental, gives bad advice, defines your reality, takes everything personally and cares only about her own feelings, not the client's. She does everything a counselor is NOT supposed to do! read more

This used to be a great clinic. I recently had to get a new provider. I was extremely bummed with the new doctor. I asked to be switched. Then I was called hours before my new appoiment to be told you can not switch, even if I felt my care wasn't good enough. I can't locate a new doctor inside humboldt, so I have to travel to UCSF or EP for simple primary care. read more

I've been coming here since the day that I was born, most of the people in my family are also patients. The best Dr. in Humboldt County is here; Julie Ohnemus, she is the only Dr. still there that I would recommend to anyone. This clinic does a fine job of serving its patients in an isolated semi-rural area with limited resources. I moved to Arcata from a world-class city with world-class treatment. Yet I receive caring, careful attention at North Country Clinic. From the front desk staff to the nurses and medical assistants, I feel attended to and my privacy is respected.
