Unfortunately, the online system wouldn't allow me to add the other labs without canceling the glucose appointment, so I chose to proceed with the glucose test and planned to hand in the additional requisition upon arrival. I didn't think this would be an issue, especially since Quest accepts walk-in patients and I was going to be there for two hours. It seemed reasonable that the extra labs could be drawn during the same visit--specifically, one hour after drinking the glucose solution and again at the two-hour mark, for a total of three needle sticks. I didn't see the need to schedule another appointment just to return for a fourth draw when I was already there for an extended period. When I explained this to Carla and gave her the additional requisition, she looked me in the eye and told me I'd need to make another appointment and come back for those tests. I calmly explained what had happened with the online system and said I was unable to return, and that it made sense to draw everything while I was already there. She reluctantly added the tests and told me, "Next time you'll have to make an appointment," followed by, "I'm not trying to give you a hard time." When I tried to show her on my phone what happens when you attempt to add multiple tests online, she refused to look and said, "I don't need to see that." Then, while I was seated quietly waiting for the draw, she noticed my water bottle and asked if I had been drinking from it. I told her yes, and that my midwife said I could and had written it on the instructions. Again, she responded with, "I'm not trying to give you a hard time." By this point, I felt extremely uncomfortable with how I was being treated. I told her that I've worked in healthcare for over 20 years and have never been treated this way by a medical professional. I said her overall attitude from the moment I walked in had been off-putting and unsettling, and that I preferred not to continue speaking. She then said another tech would complete the timed draws at 7:50 and 8:50. It was upsetting to be treated this way when I was simply trying to be practical and efficient during an important prenatal test. The reaction I received felt unnecessarily rigid and dismissive, especially considering I was already going to be there for hours.

So much so, last year I had to be sedated! Zwanger-Persiri radiology has state of the art equipment for all your imaging needs. And it's so convenient, so close to my home. The staff is very patient and professional and they always play on their television in the lobby educational programs. I was watching a show on Great White Sharks, I didn't want to leave! Once I'm in the MRI room, they're playing 80s music to keep calm. Not moving for 10 minutes? I'm like a shark, constantly in motion. I sat still, payed my co payment and was out the door. It's really location specific- today 1/19/26 around 3:10 pm- at the east setauket location I was…read morethere getting a cat scan with IV contrasts - the blonde person inserting the IV placed it and withdraw blood from me in a syringe at the same time and saved it on the counter - not telling me what or why she needed it and then proceeded to tell me to leave and wait in the room next door- i then asked why the blood was taken she said oh they need to check my kidney function( test my dr did before sending me for this test) she then proceeded to put some drops in a card to run in machine and saved the rest- she came back said test was ok but still didn't discard the left over one in the syringe- it was instead placed in an cut envelope ( extra unsafe step there not needed!!) and since I wouldn't leave , she attempted to discard the syringe protected in the half cut enveloped. I said no - then took the syringe out of the envelope and emptied half the blood in syringe in the red hazard disposable sharp bin next to me first before dropping into the completely in the bin. Now be careful everyone- something fishy about this be careful - be vigilant - trust no one!! I advised the technician next time to inform me of what she was doing before proceeding. Without my consent, she collected my blood to run test without my permission. Shocking! Wonder what else is going on there. Be careful yall!!! I would be careful everyone- ask questions when not sure and always trust your instinct. This is a first time I know that a radiology place would draw one's blood free of charge to run a test without one's consent- they obtain consent for everything including asking and recommending test to charge your without insurance but somehow running test on my blood without consent is done without permission and free of charge. If this has happened to you don't ignore it speak up.

Almost never have I had to wait longer than 5 or 10 minutes past my scheduled appointment. The big negative which is causing me to stop having service provided by LabCorp is the repeated failure of the provider to collect and/or submit all requested samples for testing, and this is huge. I make an effort to have multiple Drs tests done at one time so I only have to get one venipuncture, and the value of follow-up Dr Appointments depends on having the reports from these tests available. The whole thing falls apart if only one of two or more orders is completed. And I can forgive mistakes: we all make them. But this has happened twice, and customer service has not been sufficiently eager to appear as though the issue requires quick corrective action. This isn't fast food, it's healthcare. It has to be done right the first time.

But the staff and technologist here made an annoying uncomfortable experience almost a cakewalk! When I walked into the lobby, I was promptly checked in and directed to the Women's Imaging area, where I was asked to change into a robe. The tech then took me in the back, and I was done within about 15 minutes. The tech was lovely, patient, and accommodating. She was very professional and helpful, too. And after I got home, I got my results within a few hours just by logging into the portal! I now have a clear report to discuss with my doctor, and I will return to Zwanger for the follow-up ultrasound they recommended. Each time I've gone I have been seen and taken care of without any long waiting times. The desk clerks are efficient and are able to call up my insurance records immediately. Test results have been quick, complete, cohesive and timely. Comparisons have been made to previous tests, if any, and the reports have gone immediately to my primary care Doctors and my own MyChart website.
