The care I have received here has been okay to excellent. Never poor. However, the billing department has some BIG PROBLEMS. I am talking fraud, lost payments (theft?), impossible to pay remotely. At this point I am letting my medical insurance ombudsman deal with them. When I can, I go to Mammoth Hospital or Renown in Reno for my medical care. The medical care is about the same and the billing is competent and respectful. read more

I have had occasion to visit the ER for myself and family. The ER staff is always helpful and caring, the wait time is very reasonable, the waiting room is nice. **********HOWEVER, the BILLING Department is HORRIBLE******* My bill is $1223.00, multiple times I've requested a detail of my services for my secondary insurance who will only PAY if I submit required information I don't have. I have been making monthly payments including one large payment in October of $400.00 and now I'm receiving a statement with a message "final notice- Your payment agreement has been breached. Full payment is required immediately, to prevent further action, which may affect your credit rating." I did receive a call once from a phone number out of Wisconsin I believe it was, I don't answer unknown callers especially ones from out of state, a short message was left to call back a different number, I tried, and a man answered who said he didn't know the person I was calling for. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! I only owe $293.88 of the original $1223.00 bill. I'M VERY DOUBTFUL ANYONE CAN MAKE A FULL PAYMENT IN TODAYS WORLD without the help of secondary insurance companies who require information ! read more

This is a long over due review. Last March 26,2018 my dad was taken to the ER at this hospital. We received such wonderful care from the doctors and the nurses. It was a highly emotional time for our family and they were not only taking care of my dad but making sure we were okay. He was there for a day and then moved to the med surge department. I wish I had the names of all the nurses that took care of my dad. They were so wonderful to him and to us. They made it comfortable for my step mom and sister to sleep there for the week. While the rest of us went to the house. My dad didn't make it out of the hospital he passed on April 3 I don't know what we would have done without the loving staff on the med surge floor. I will never forget the love and compassion they showed my dad and family. I hope the nurses and doctors read this and know we are forever grateful. read more

Dont waste your time here. This location had 20 different employees walk through the door and not a single person could handle a cdl physical. Everybody wants to get paid and nobody wants to work. I wouldn't be surprised if this location wasn't federally subsidized. read more

I had such a great experience in the Emergency Room. I had a bilateral fracture and dislocation of my ankle in the big pine lakes area and A plus service from the people who comforted me at the mountain and took care of my dog, the amazing emt's Dave and Derek who stabilized my leg and kept me distracted the whole ambulance ride and the ridiculous nice and caring staff who helping in the reduction of my fractures so I could get back home to San Diego. I can't remember all the names but I remember Dr Amsalem, my nurse Johnny, and everybody else including Marney who drove me from the hospital to a hotel nearby. Losing your hearing to a plug of earwax is never fun and even worse in the middle of the first night on vacation. A quick visit to my health plan's website turned up this facility tucked away off of Main St. in the Bedroom of the High Sierras (that's Bishop, California to you and me). I pulled into a deserted emergency room parking lot around 5:45am on a Saturday morning in May, 2014 and rang the after-hours bell at the check-in window. A triage nurse acknowledged me at once, took my vitals, punched some personal info into the computer and turned me over to the admitting nurse. The first-time patient check-in went surprisingly fast and I settled into a chair in the waiting room where I had barely enough time to text a status update to the missus back at the Creekside Inn. The male nurse confirmed my identity, examined the ear canal and decided on the peroxide fizz/irrigation regimen. The female doctor concurred and after a couple washes, rinses and some digging, my right ear (the one prone to these things) was back to clear-as-a-bell hearing. I was back in my hotel room before 7:00am After over 30 years of spending the night in Bishop on the way to and from Lake Tahoe, it's nice to discover something new. True, it's not an overlooked gem of a restaurant, but it's comforting to know it's here if we need it. read more

Waiting over 3 hours in ER. Staff has no contril of waiting room. No one keeps anyone informed. Bishop paid a huge amount in bonds and taxes for NOTHING. Made hospital look prettier but is there really any more beds or accommodations? It is worth the drive just to go to Mammoth ER! read more

Small hospital with limited services. They try to give a broad range of services from Tele medicine to partnering with Adventist health. They have devinci robotic surgery available and a good soild base for everyday care and emergencies. read more

This can't even be considered a hospital anymore everyone is going to mammoth a real hospital these people break hipa everyday they call the police if anyone has been abused even if patent doesn't want that because they are going to get abused worse next time because cops were called as I'm writing this they are writing sarcastic remarks because theyllprobably delete this if so i ll write letter to editor in paper and tell them about your smart ass remarks and to the head of your hospital when did this hospital become a probation office drug testing u them first thing they walk in door so many people then laughing in there face which they did to my daughter who was seriously Ill had to go to mammoth to get treated they laughed in her face said your on drugs thats what's wrong with you there we go with the remarks again from hospital staff that don't want anyone seeing this I promise you I am going to make sure I get heard to A LL your bosses. Real hospitals not this one treat the people on drugs treat them with respect and tell them consequences of using drugs. But first thing they do is treat patients for what they came into emergency room for This hospital and Dwayne's pharmacy kicked a wonderful army geriatric Dr out of our town he did housecalls and saved Iives of our elderly this hospitals tell old people its just because your of no matter what's wrong with them Dorothy David just to mention one every time she went in hospital for a year she had uti or that just happens when you get old cause they aren't geriatrics Dorothy was almost dead when this Dr came to her house twice and cured her there was a real problem the hospital didnt even try and find the Dr came to her house at seven at night and said I'm going to go get your medicine after exam I ng her and ask do you need anything from store I no its the end of the month and he wouldn't take any money back for the medicine he bought she didnt need pharmaceutical drugs to heal her and he healed her thats why Dwayne's and the hospital kicked him out of this town the first place he rented behind dwyanes after he put thousands in it fixing his drs office and dwayne said he could rent it when he found out he doesnt use to many pharmacutical drugs up he kicked him out the next place he went to rent the hosital bought that buiding and kicked him out because the elderly were getting cured not having to go to the hospital all the time what kind of town are we living in letting the elderly die because of greed many more people were cured by him they don't care how many are going to suffer and die without their geriatric Dr something should D happen to them they should get fined or something go to senior center and hear them All stick complain and wonder what they do now I rate this hospital a one upstairs in actually hospital has great drs read more

Just moved to Bishop and the medical community here is amazing! Husband is on chemo, you would think do not move to a tiny town. But the treatment here is sooo much better than the big city we moved from. Its way more caring with personal attention. Went for the annual scan, John and his assistant were amazing had us out of there in a 1/4 of the time at the big city diagnostics. We have to go for bi-weekly blood draws, they never miss a vein are careful and so friendly. Had we known the medical was so amazing here we would have moved here sooner! For the past 9 years down south in the big cities, the medical community is cold and you seem like another paycheck, but here at NIH it has been amazing and we actually look forward to appointments. read more

Bishop ER was the closest hospital when I broke my leg and ankle one day. From the security guard to the Dr the whole experience was fantastic!! I had zero wait time and the Dr saw me within minutes. I never even left my room for anything. The x-ray tech has a portable machine so I was able to lay comfortably (given the broken leg and ankle) in bed the whole time. A few more people had come in while I was there so I had a little down time while the Dr made her rounds. I had my two kids with me and they were getting hungry so one of the ladies had gotten them a snack, which they were very thankful for. I honestly just have nothing to complain about with my visit. Every single person was quick and nothing but nice! I felt like they all genuinely cared about the care they were giving me. Heaven forbid I ever need an ER visit again, I would not hesitate to go to Bishop. (My incident is covered by workmans comp so I can't speak for any billing issues or such) read more

My hispanic grandma is currently sick and in this hospital. My also hispanic grandpa went to visit her, get this; he's not allowed in the hospital room because he can't speak english They have been married for 40 years and it's heartbreaking that he can't be with her right now. This is racism and not okay. My poor grandpa has been waiting outside her hospital room for the past 6 hours and they're still not letting him in. This is very unfair, all because he can't speak english ! read more

I was on vacation for mule days with my family camping and got severely dehydrated, after passing out I realized it was time to go to the ER. It was the best experience i've ever had at an ER, EVER. Everyone was so nice, I only waited in the waiting room for maybe 20 minutes before they put me in a bed, in my own room, with a tv.... and the Dr even came in my room and actually apologized for the little wait! The nurse was the sweetest lady, I mean i actually wanted to stay instead of go back out to our camp site. they kept bringing me warm blankets, and checked up on my every 10-15 minutes. I wish hospitals and ers were like this in my home town. read more
