Be wary of this medical group. They will make you make two appointments for Physicals. If your insurance only covers for one physical per year you will be stuck with paying for a second office visit. They will make you come back to review your result and sign your document so they can charge you another $230. Test results can easily be available online and document can easily be faxed or mailed. Any doctor comments can be made on an online portal like Mychart. For new patients, they will also require a new patient visit in addition to the actual physical, so you have to come in twice and get billed twice. For people not on high deductible plan or on Medicare, they may not notice they are being billed for two visits. This office is running a fraudulent practice if anyone cares to look into it. read more

The Somers office of Northern Medical Group is the worst. The medical team is grossly incompetent ... and just plain lazy. They love to order medical tests you don't need to jack up your bill. Don't go, unsafe! The admin staff is rude and unprofessional too. What a bad experience. read more

4 weeks after I posted the review below, there has been no improvement whatsoever. Today November 30, I waited 15 minutes to contact anybody in the office and when no one answered I gave up. I called back and tried to leave a general voicemail by following the prompts (by dialing 9) and I got an "invalid number" response! So you cannot even leave a voicemail. Whatever IT company added the voicemail option did not even bother to check whether it works, which is astounding. It doesn't work. I tried back for the third time and someone finally picked up after waiting another 12 minutes. The administration of this doctor office is hopeless. If you really need a doctor do not use this doctor group It is virtually impossible to contact this Doctor Group. You call, are put on a very very long cue, wait for 20 minutes, then are directed to leave a voicemail. !! This is ridiculous. I had been a longtime patient of this Group. My last doctor left the practice and I was dropped as a patient. No one from this Group ever called to set up a new doctor or even recommend a new doctor to take over the former doctor's patients. This is a very poorly managed Doctor Group. Very unprofessional administration. read more

Horrible!!! I've been using Dr. Martha Bouchard for over 25 years. Dr. Bouchard is wonderful however if you need to talk to someone it is almost impossible. Whenever I call I am sitting in the queue with 5, 10, 15 people in front of me and when I finally get through I get an answering machine. When I get a call back it is not by a Dr. or a nurse and the Doctor, nurses don't call back. Horrible!!! read more

You can't get they to make an appointment. It is beyond frustrating. It is unacceptable. I will eventually change doctors. Unfortunately, drs are not the problem. They are very very good. The office administration is absolutely terrible. This has been going on for years. Prior to the pandemic. So we can't say that's is the issue. I used this practice for both primary care (Dana Thomas) and GYN (Susan Malley). I liked the doctors but the practice is horribly run. Days to return phone calls, if at all. I went to my PC for the standard pre-surgery physical. I stressed the importance of them faxing the forms to the surgeon's office ASAP because if they didn't have them 48 hrs in advance my surgery would be cancelled. I had to call 5 times before the forms were finally sent. Each time I was told the records department was going to do it but they never did. Finally, when I was in tears, I found a sympathetic nurse who faxed them over herself. Another bad experience with their billing department. I was charged a co-pay when I shouldn't have been. My insurance company sent the payment and the billing group confirmed they received it, but it took more than 3 months and 10+ phone calls to get a refunded. I spoke to several people in the billing department (one of them was extremely rude) who said they would look into it and call me back - but nobody ever did. I also spoke to the office manager of the Carmel location. She too promised to call me back with a resolution but never did. It was only when I threatened to report them to my insurance company for collecting payment twice that they finally issued a refund. And perhaps the worst offense...urgent care diagnosed me with the flu and told me to follow-up with my primary if I still felt sick in a week. After a week and a half of being very ill, I called Dana Thomas's office to try to get an appointment ASAP. The receptionist told me they were booked but that she would leave a message for a nurse to call me back to see if I could be squeezed in. No call back. Called two more times over the next few days. Left messages on the nurses line both time but still no return phone call. I ended up having to go back to urgent care. As I said, I liked the doctors and would have liked to make them my permanent practice - but the way they treat their patients is unacceptable. After the flu incident I found a new practice. read more

Regrettably, the 1 star is for billing and not for the MD ( Singh) who is extremely competent and knowledgeable. I called billing after the first EOB was received which stated that my plan did not cover "dependents". An obvious error since I was the patient and the plan is in my name. 2nd EOB received today again reads " patient is not covered under your plan"! I have to call billing yet again to correct the mistaken information. The wrong membership number is on the EOB and the office staff were given my cards and copied them so I don't know how this happened. When I called after the first error was noted, there should not be a repeat of the same issue. read more

I'd like to give one star, but that wouldn't be fair to the physician. I've had the same physician here for over 20 years, and I have no problem with him. HOWEVER - the office staff are dreadful, and the billing department is the most deplorable bunch of morons I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I have an insurance issue wherein my insurance company only recognizes my MD as a "specialist", and so I get a bill every 6 months (after my biannual checkups) for the difference in copay. I go through the same conversation with billing every 6 months, asking them to make the necessary adjustment to my bill, and every time it's like I'm speaking Greek to a battery chicken. Actually, that's not fair to the chicken, which theoretically could learn. This morning's conversation was possibly the worst, where the billing department representative insisted that she and I had already spoken today - which we had not. I finally told her that I was *not* senile, nor suffering from any known neural deficit. I have never been so furious. I am completely fed up. My advice? If you like to argue, go ahead and sign up with this group. If you prefer a seamless relationship with a medical professional and an office practice not staffed by rejects from a bolt-sorting facility, then seek medical care elsewhere. The doctors in this practice is good but the billing department once located in Hopewell Junction NY and now located in Poughkeepsie NY is absolutely horrible in regards to management. Mangers there where yoga pants and sneakers daily. Mangers don't care about patient's billing concerns, always have a late timely admissions of claims, will only look into an account once a month, just to show that some kind of action took place in regards. Low fee schedules are never up-to-date in the system, they are quick to bill the patient for every balance, and they do not offer their workers double monitors while running multiple programs at once. Managers rely on their workers to do their jobs while they text all day on their phones as well as communicate with friends and family. The only time the managers seem competent is when they are one the phone talking to higher management. I don't recommend in any way, shape or form dealing with northern medical group's billling department, avoid them and you will save yourself from headaches, time and stress! read more
