    BD Crafters - Deck

    BD Crafters

    (1 review)

Ben from BD Crafters just finished a major deck repair, and I couldn't be happier with the results…read more The Trex on top was fine, but there were 3 visible beams that were either rotted or severely cracked. In order to replace the beams, it was necessary to remove all the Trex. Once removed, I was amazed at all the underlying shoddy construction done by a local construction company. Ben gave me two estimates, one to just replace the 3 bad beams and the other, which was close to being a total rebuild. It was an easy choice to go with the second option. The deck is a weird shape, and in order to use the existing Trex, all the new structure would have to be perfectly measured. The deck did turn out perfect. I was especially happy that Ben was very selective in picking out the pressure-treated wood at the local big box store. Some of that wood is exposed and the grain is just beautiful. I had originally planned on painting the exposed wood, but it looks so nice I will probably go with a transparent stain. Ben's workmanship was outstanding. The price for the work was reasonable and about what I would have expected. This is the first time I have used BD Crafters. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them to others.

I had Sean refinish my hardwood floors in 3 bedrooms and a hallway in March 2019. My floors were…read moreleft textured, every square inch of the floor was bumpy with air bubbles and debris. Sean came back out sanded the pieces of debris out and refinished a coat of Poly, but I overheard him saying I was "Nitpicking" and being a "picky bastard" because I expected my floors to be smooth. Here's the other issues that I never even brought up to Sean, which these still would not be nitpicking if I had. They didn't bring their own tools, they used my extension cord, sander pole, wet/dry vac, and stand up vacuum. They left these items caked in dust and even laughed about leaving the dust on my vacuum. I had to clean out all the sawdust on and in my vacuums and buy a new filter. The work was to be done all on the 1st floor yet they went upstairs and into the basement several times to retrieve MY tools because they didn't bring theirs. Common decency would have them at the very least clean the items that they borrowed and leave them as they found them. If all that wasn't enough... They destroyed my recently painted baseboards and door jambs, not just the paint but they gouged my baseboards and sloppily got Poly on them. They left a small pile of saw dust in my kitchen, 2 large piles of saw dust in my driveway, and even dumped the sander bag into a snow bank right next to my walkway!... as if wood and sawdust will just melt away with the snow bank. They didn't put any kind of filter on the heat air intakes, my furnace filter was trashed with saw dust, I also had to vacuum out the returns that were full of sawdust. No wiping down of the walls like he said he would. Dust on every single item on the second floor and rooms that were not worked on, they never shielded off any non-work areas from dust. There were other issues as well but I don't want to nitpick.
