Not a lot of love for this awesome tool shop, which is large and serves well and is very tailored to specific needs, and we are always glad it's here when we need a specific something. The manager at Northern Tools willow chase location , "John, is incompetent. I purchased some pressure washing equipment and wa supposed to receive a $100 gift card that his employee never sent me. When I called he tried to lie and say that the promo was online only. I had to read him the receipt number about 5 times. Then I said "other location offered the promo too." So then he said it was exclusive to those location. I pulled up the promo terms online and finally got him to agree after he lied multiple times. He wanted me to drive there (I was an hour away) and get the gift card the same day because the promo ended that day. As I'm halfway there he says never mind I've emailed the person in charge and they will contact you in 7 days... it's been 3 -4 weeks already. No call, no email. Currently looking for the company hierarchy to contact his superiors. If anyone has Northern tools upper management contact please let me know. This person should not be the leading a retail team for northern tools. I was lied to and I wasted my time when I could buy my business equipment elsewhere. DON'T trust them at the stores. read more

Went to this location to purchase a tool. It took 3 people to determine if the tool was in the store. Then after they found the tool, the box appeared to be open. I told the clerk I didn't want to purchase it if it's been used. The tool was pulled out of the box and there was clearly use on the tool and it even had dirt on it. The clerk insisted that I purchase that specific one after I stated I wasn't going to buy a used tool. He yelled and said "this tool is not used, bro." Manager was right beside him and did not help the situation. Employees and management need customer service training and they need to be more knowledgeable in tools. read more

I've been here too many times. I have mixed feelings about this place. Mostly just meh. they have plenty of heavy-duty tools and machinery, but I am not here for these merchandise. I come here for minor things at aisles in the middle of walkway whenever they sent me coupons. One exception. I bought a Milwaukee tool. I remember in my younger days - few decades ago, I worked with manufacturing machine in Silicon Valley. We used Milwaukee screwdrivers. They never failed on us. So, I have been looking for a retail store that carries this brand. Lucky me, I found the entire line of tools at Northern Tool & Equipment store. Like most reviewers said about the level of customer service. It kind of depends on what time of the year you come here. During the holidays, I have much better experience than during summer time. They are definitely not in a hurry to help you with anything, they don't keep it on the shelf, and it takes multiple people to make their way to the back and see if they actually have one and then they come back out and ask if you want to buy it. You can find me in here when i'm too prideful to pay some one to fix something at home or i miss the smell of the workshop. Catch them when they have a big promo and they'll catch everything you pull out of your bill fold. My ol' man rents equipment here when he has an insulation job. When i break my tools, or his, i can find a quality replacement socket set or whatever i need. The grade of metals for most of the tools are suitable for any job, so long as you use the right size tools. Every aisle has utencils liking the job or performance of that tool, easy to spot what you need. One of my favorite parts is that i don't expect to pay for something that will only work once, so the quality matches the price. Other tool stores in the area may not have the quality or the quantity of each part you're looking for. For those involved with home decorating or any form of remodeling/ renovation jobs, they'll definitely have the necessities to do the dirty work. In a society where folks are competing for degrees and the white-collared world may seem to command and rule, we grunts know that the handy-man is and has been running things, and Northern Tools likes to keep it that way. read more

Took a kobolt Air compressor in to get fixed told them what was wrong they charge $35 even though they knew what the problem was then called a day and a half later and said we can't fix it really it's the cobalt not even five years old. So their service department is not very good! The guy is a jerk! The day we drop it off he was to busy talking to the other guy in the back ! As a customer I don't want to hear you complain about your job and how you don't have enough people to complete the work you have in the repair shop!!! And don't tell me you can't find the part! My husband and I always come to this location to look at tools for his job, but on 02/11/2017 we were treated like we were going to steal something. The staff, or to be specific a lady worker, unfortunately I did not get her name because she made my husband and I really uncomfortable that we decided to leave. She kept on checking on us, looking at us and following us like we were up to something. I don't think it was professional for her to do that and I don't understand her reason behind that because we had been in the store for more than 30 minutes looking at tools before she came to "offer help". I don't appreciate that because we were not doing anything wrong. Over all good store but her customer service was not good at all which has made us feel like we won't be going back there. read more

Took two generators I had let sit too long with gas back to Northern Tool, where I bought them, to have the carbs cleaned. I specifically told them that was all I wanted done, no oil changes, etc. I had less than (5) hours total on the generators having used them for a tailgate. I get a call from the "mechanic" telling me both generators need a rebuild, replacing the piston and rings, in addition to the carb cleaning. I know a little bit about combustion engines after 35 years of riding motorcyles\building hot rods and filled both generators when I purchased them with Mobil1 Synthetic oil (the best). So the idea that both generators are shot and worn after a single extended run is absurd. THIS REPAIR EXPERIENCE WAS FRAUD! Don't trust Northern Tool. Plenty of "reputable" repair business for generators, mowers, pressure washers, etc. can be found with a simple search. I took the generators to a small engine repair shop and got the carbs cleaned, they both run great. read more

Northern Tool is a clean well laid out store that has pretty much any tool you might need. They have everything from power tools, hand tools. generators, material handling, painting and many others. The aisles are all labeled and they have items you can visually see to find what you are looking for. The staff was friendly and helpful on my visit. I would definitely return if I am in need of more tools in the future. read more

I recently went in to buy a generator. I visited on a Monday and while looking down the aisle a gentleman asked if I needed help. We talked for at least 20mins, he gave me tons of useful info that helped me determine what I needed. After speaking I found out he was the Store Manager, Bill. I told him I'd be back. I came back on Thursday and he remembered my name and provided me with exceptional service. His team was just as great! All very knowledgeable, accommodating and took the time to make sure the generator was working properly! read more

After buying tons of equipment from this store and spending thousands of dollars here, I had a surface cleaner break down and went in to get it repaired because it was still under manufacturers warranty. The repair shop worker Mackenzie, told me that he knew for sure warranty would replace most of the parts, but there were 2 parts he wasn't 100% sure they would replace, but he was 99% sure they would. Said it would take 5-7 days. 2 weeks later no one had contacted me at all, so I called. Mackenzie said he had called and no-one had picked up, which was a lie because I always call back/check all my voicemails, but whatever. He said. He said he hadn't started the repair yet because I needed to ok it first, which I did. He said again that it would take about 5 days, but because of new years, it may take up to 8-9 so to give him a few extra days, I said that was fine. Another 2 weeks go by and I've yet to hear from them, so I called. Apparently, they had received all the parts, and had put them on the surface cleaner, but hadn't called me because claim wasn't approved yet. So he still didn't know if they would approve the 2 parts (which was a total of a whopping $20). He told me I could pay out of pocket for those parts and if they get approved they would re-reimburse me. I told him no thanks, just put the old parts back on and I'll come pick up my equipment. He said he couldn't do that and transferred me to the assistant manager Edwin. I had to re-explain everything to Edwin because apparently they're too lazy to speak to each other. Edwin put me on hold and went to speak to his manager. After being on hold twice he finally tells me that they will put my old parts back on and charge me the $35 labor fee. I told him fine, and please call me if it does end up getting approved so I can bring it back and get the other 2 parts put on there, he said he will but they would have to charge me another 35 labor charge. This is BY FAR the worst costumer service I've ever experienced by a big store that I've given so much business to. It's beyond ridiculous the lengths these people will go to not risk losing $20. WHICH BTW, I told Edwin I will happily pay for if the claim ended up not getting approved. Needless to say I will not be buying anything from here again. If anyone in the Houston area is in the pressure washing business or just simply need pressure washing equipment for home use, I highly recommend you to go to Action Cleaning Equipment Company down the road on on Milwee. They're prices are a little higher than NT, but they're customer service is bar none. read more

THEY'RE CROOKS!!! BEWARE!!! I ordered 2 items on-line to pick up at the store. Due to my work schedule it took me a couple of weeks to go by and pick up my order. They had gotten impatient and sent it UPS to my house. I changed my mind after seeing the items were of inferior construction. I called the (800) number and was told I HAD TO PAY 15% RESTOCKING and get the balance on a store gift card. This is BS!!! I don't really know what happened to this store. The first time I went here is was fair and the customer service was on point. Although the last 3 times I have went I've had nothing but bad customer service. The cashier ladies know nothing about the tools in the store and are constantly on their phones. The manager is on a power trip and won't take back a return if the box is open even if the part is unused. I shop at this location often since my husband owns a pressure washing company. The times that we have needed assistance locating an item we have been helped by different employees, some more helpful than others, but there is one in particular that always stands out to us for her amazing knowledge of the products, and her wonderful customer service. This representative's name is Dalia. She is amazing, and every time I am at this location I know I will get exactly what I am searching for if she is there. There have been times where we have gotten assistance from other representatives, but I find that if someone other than Dalia helps us out they don't really offer the best customer service possible, they usually just do the bare minimum to get by or simply walk by without acknowledging us so they don't have to be bothered. We recommend this store to friends often so we always tell them to ask for Dalia since she goes above and beyond for us all the time. read more
