I called and spoke with Paul, the owner, and he took time to explain the process from the required 45-hours of drive-time with me and my husband through to getting her provisional license. We provided Paul with days and times she was available including weekends and our address. The first session was conducted on a Sunday afternoon (thank heavens!) and Paul came, introduced himself and talked with us for about 20-minutes while we took care of paperwork and payment. He then had our daughter get into the driver's seat and they proceeded with the session, which also included picking up other teen drivers. There was no set days and times for the lessons, it was more what worked for our family and Paul's wife, Kinder, who conducted all subsequent sessions. We were so happy with the fluid schedule! Our daughter raved about her experience. After her last session, we talked with Paul's wife as she completed the paperwork to be filed with the DMV and the courthouse, so that we could skip the step of appearing before a judge in order for our daughter to get her license. This was a huge plus! She also issued the provisional license and said that the DMV would mail the actual license in about 90-days. Access Driving Academy made everything easy and seamless. Just remember to be patient with the improvised schedule knowing that Paul and his wife will take care of the details. We highly recommend them!

Overall, we've had a positive experience and are grateful for the role Big Blue played in helping our kids become comfortable and confident in the water. One of the biggest advantages is the convenience. The lessons are structured efficiently, making it easy to get in and out without a huge time commitment. The app was also convenient with scheduling, rescheduling, and booking makeup classes. The instructors deserve a lot of credit. They consistently showed incredible patience, even with very young children and varying skill levels. We also had positive interactions with Brenden, the general manager, who was always friendly, helpful, and professional. The main reason for the 4-star rating instead of 5 is the class size ratio. After the baby classes, our experience was typically a 1:3 instructor-to-student ratio. We found our kids learned best when there were only two students in the class. With 3 children, lessons could sometimes feel crowded, and occasionally a disruptive child would impact the amount of instruction and practice time each swimmer received. That said, Big Blue provided a strong foundation for our children, and we're thankful for the experience. Our kids are now moving on to private lessons, but Big Blue helped them develop the comfort and confidence in the water needed to take that next step.

Seems to…read morehelps to build the confidence of the new driver and teaches great driving skills and techniques that perhaps may be missed in home lessons. Nice to have my son come home and share the things he learned as well to see him applying them to his driving. Also Zee's is great at helping parents understand the process of the teen driver's license process. Lots of driving packages to choose from. We figured when summer came and pools open we'd do some work on our own or go back to the inexpensive Fairfax county classes, but our son is making such incredible progress in light of Justin's classes, that we're continuing, and plan to start our 2 year old. Justin is firm, but patient. He doesn't let the kids give up and is really encouraging. It feels like he knows how to address any situation, fear, tantrums, silliness, all of it, and always brings the kids back to the lesson and makes it productive. Last year I took the "Tile, Grout, and Thinset" class with the DIY Academy. It was a fantastic…read moreexperience and it gave me the confidence to fix up one of the smaller bathrooms at my house. With my master bathroom repair-and-renovation looming, I wanted to expand my knowledge base more, and Rich and the DIY Academy were once again there to help. Instead of a class, I participated in the volunteering arm of the program and assisted in the demolition and subfloor preparation of an actual master bathroom. It was a whole day of cutting, grinding, smashing, and trashing, but it certainly affirmed the old maxim, "The best way to learn is to do." A lot of times it seems educators in any field see fit to show and tell, but not so here. Rich was always there to supervise and provide support, but it was apparent that he was dedicated to having the student learn by action and not by observation. His methods provided a great blend of experience-based learning and direct instruction. Being able to take part in each process necessary to strip a room down to its bones eliminated two obstacles that scare off most homeowners from attempting to do their own renovation work. First, it removed the mystery of a home's construction: every layer of material holding the old bathroom together could be seen and held. Second, it provided some level of expectation: now having seen how the various surfaces and materials are held together, I know my own bathroom's construction will not be terribly far off. This all works together to establish a sort of baseline muscle memory for the work to be done in the future. This was another great experience with DIY Academy and I hope more such opportunities arise in the future!
