Amazing!! Such a fabulous place for cocktails! The cocktails are delicious, so many options! I had the Fox Red Old Fashioned and my sister the Lenny Old Fashioned, I preferred the Lenny but both were very good and excellent flavors. The staff is SO nice, there is not a dedicated server but always had someone checking up on us. The views and setting is great, lots of outdoor seating even seats on the pier. Northern Waters Distillery is an absolute must-stop when visiting Minocqua, WI! The patio scene alone makes it worth the visit...it sits right on the water, has beautiful string lights for evening drinks, and features music both inside and outside (always one of my favorite touches!). They have lawn games, a great outdoor atmosphere, and tons of upcoming events with live music and yard games, making it such a fun spot to spend an afternoon or evening. I ordered the espresso martini and was so impressed that they offered the option to substitute oat milk instead of cream. I always appreciate when places are willing to accommodate dietary preferences! The drink was lighter in color than I expected but absolutely delicious and had the perfect flavor. Their bloody marys also looked amazing, topped with plenty of tasty snacks. Next time I visit, I definitely want to make more time to learn about their distillery process because it seems like such a unique part of the experience. I always enjoy stopping in, especially with friends who are visit the area. They make exceptional cocktails featuring the liquor distilled in house. Everything they produce is available for purchase. I particularly like their Rye whisky and Moruravi bitters which I combine with maple syrup to make my signature "Up North Old Fashioned." They recently finished landscaping their "backyard" over looking the lake, so if the weather is good, you'll definitely want to find a seat or table outside -- a perfect way to spend a Northwoods summer afternoon. read more

We did the tour and it was really cool! We have done a few tours but this one was the most informative about how to actually distill and the flavors and all that. Everyone was pleasant and friendly. A craft distillery with a nice little bar and quaint outdoor seating. Fine booze they make into fine cocktails. Try the "flight" of 5 samples for $10, but make sure you have a designated driver, 'cos if you down all five samples, you're going to be, as my sainted Grandfather said: "feeling your cheerioats". We were up in Boulder Junction for vacation several years ago and decided to wander around Minocqua. I saw a sign mentioning a small distillery in a shop in town and we headed over to check it out. It was only their second year operating and the owner could not have been more welcoming. At the time he only had moonshine either straight or in flavored form. We did tastings and it was really good, so I bought some. A couple years later he started offering various bourbons, Vodkas, Gin and other stuff too. Another vacation up there about three or four years ago lightened my wallet and loaded me up with several different jugs o hooch. The gin was excellent. He showed me a box of the juniper berries they picked to flavor it. Their booze is not cheap but you'd be hard pressed to find better quality. I don't know the secret. The owner did give me a ginger beer recipe I have yet to try, and has shipped me a couple different t-shirts after the ones I've bought up there wore out. In the time since my last visit, they e moved into a larger distilling building that can produce much more. You can't buy his booze outside Wisconsin because of stupid distribution laws and he's a relatively small distillery anyway, but if you're ever up here and you enjoy fine spirits, you really ought to check out Northern Waters. read more

Stopped at Northern Waters Distillery for a drink and to browse all of the excellent choices they have. Whiskey, Bourbon, Rum and my absolute personal favorite, the Blueberry Basil Vodka. Had that as a mule and was blown away. Not only do they serve and sell a lot of great products, the staff was friendly and very helpful when there were any questions. I cannot say enough good things about this place. This was my family's first time at Northern Waters Distillery and we'll definitely be back. The atmosphere was the perfect mixture between a north woods bar and distillery. Everyone working was extremely kind and helpful every time we interacted with someone on the crew. We ordered a flight with a mixture of their bourbon, a few different infused vodkas and the maple moonshine! Everything was so unique but also very good. We also tried two different types of Old Fashions, and my personal favorite, The Sludge, which was their coffee vodka blended with vanilla ice cream. It was so good I drank it all before getting a picture lol. On our way out we also picked up some of their bottles to take home because we enjoyed their spirits that much. read more

We got two flights both are great. This is not our first time here and will not be our last. They have everything from flavored vodka to moonshine. Nothing they have is bad just make sure you know what you like. They also have mixed drinks if your not sure they can give you ideas. If you want a unique experience, this is the place! They have an impressive lineup of spirits made on the premises and only available at the distillery. They offer tastings and have a great drink menu featuring only the booze and bitters made on site as well as their own mixers. The drink menu may look like all the drinks you are familiar with but they have been kicked up a notch or 2 and made memorable with the addition of the unique flavors created by the magicians at this distillery. Our party of 4 each ordered something different and taste tested each other's drinks, I would have ordered any one of them myself. Muddled blackberries in an Old Fashioned? Delish!! A slightly dirty martini? Smooth. I would love to try every drink on the menu but definitely not in a single visit!!! read more

We took the tour, which you can email them to sign up for. It was a good tour, and we enjoyed it, but it was pretty short for a tour that you pay $10 per person for. Granted, you do get a free cocktail or flight, but we would have preferred to just share a flight so that we could just taste a few things. We didn't each want a cocktail. As for the quality, we weren't thrilled with much of any of the flavors we tried. We are bourbon lovers, but the bourbon tasted very young. Still it was worth going because if we had never had dandelion liqueur before, and it was very bizarre and fun to try something we had never tried before. read more

You've got to get some citrus vodka. So good! Tastes like oranges and lemons with just a hint of lime. The owner recommended that if I like cranberry juice with vodka, this would be a great vodka to use. Memorial Day weekend wiped them out of gin, so we got a bottle of bourbon and bottle of corn whiskey (Lakeside Moonshine). My husband loves their products and the gentleman behind the counter (one of the owners, I believe) could not have been nicer. Very enthusiastic about what he does. Great place! read more

If you think it's all about bourbon tasting, think again. While available, this place is all about craft cocktails. We stopped in the Friday after Thanksgiving. Super busy but we did get a table. It's a small tasting room. Nice warm atmosphere and excellent service--very helpful with guidance to drinks that fit our palette. Fabulous and delicious drinks. The production area is visible from the tasting room. Very clean. The only negative we have is unisex bathroom...we are not a fan of them. But we totally enjoyed ourselves and will go back when in Minocqua. read more

We get off our party bus (this was our first stop for the day) we walk in and the owner tells us right away that "this is a adult establishment and would like you to be respectful". Very rude first impression assuming we are the disrespectful types and when we told her that she got very defensive and didn't even apologize. This place is located a block of the main drag in what looks like a house. While this isn't the best moonshine I've had it was good. They have Bourbon, flavored vodka, gin, and flavored shine. We ended up buying a small bottle (375ml) of Bourbon and a 750 ml of honey lemon cranberry moonshine. We finished the bottle of flavored shine (only 22 proof). The two bottles cost us $50. It's worth stopping in here. read more
