Very nice mall with a great variety of stores, great bathrooms and convenient parking. Unlike most typical malls, almost every store space was occupied. There is a carousel close to the food court for the kids. read more

TO THE TWO YOUNG MEN WHO PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO ME WITH MY DISABLED WIFE..... THANK YOU! My wife and I are both disabled. We have just begun walking the mall after learning it was available for that purpose. Today, my loving wife started having balance issues I struggled to help with. We had to stop repeatedly to let her regain her balance as we tried to get to the parking lot. As we were walking out a door my wife fell back into me and two ANGELS jumped from behind us to assist us to my vehicle.... One help hold my wife up as we stumbled to the vehicle and the other went and opened the door for her. By the way one was dressed I highly suspect he is an employee in one of the remaining shops... Maybe both work there but... THANK YOU was not enough and I did not get your names which I regret... The gentleman in the parking lot who witnessed the assist with a child was extremely correct in PRAISING these young men and THANKING them with me. I don't know who you are but you are true gentleman and I will be forever thankful for your help. read more

Call me a dead mall enthusiast but this place is really, really gorgeous. It's amazing how the businesses outside of the mall are plentiful and booming but the mall isn't. I've been here twice prior to coming here Saturday in my life. I remember the last time I came here, this place had a Hallmark Store, a Spencers and a couple places in the food court. Today's its at 40% occupied with no food court stores open. Firstly, inside the Mall the interior is amazing, it's got water fountains, movie theaters and a couple of great stores that you don't see in suburbia and the city of Chicago which I'm familiar with. There's a decent amount of people that come here even though there's sadly not alot of stores. A highlight about this place is that it has the River Valley Metro buses here which is awesome for two bucks a ride. Which is cheaper than taking a PACE or CTA bus. I really like this place and I want this mall to improve because in a world where brick and Mortar stores are being killed by online retail taking jobs from people especially the fast rate of the decline of malls I have hope for it. More hope than Ford City Mall at least and many of the other malls I've visited. The locals are very friendly here as well. Definitely recommend! read more

It's kinda like an old woman who you can tell was quite extraordinary back in the day, but, like this mall, she has let herself go. That's the best way to describe it. There are still a few decent stores but not enough for anyone to actually travel to. If you're in the area, you'd be better off going out to the Kohl's or Target shopping complexes which have all the stores that left the mall after they got sick of dealing with the Simon corporation. And no, that's not a joke. The stores all moved out leaving a deserted mall with only about half of its occupancy filled. These are the stores that you've actually heard of that are still in the mall- 2 Carson's stores, JcPenney, Bath and Body Works, Victoria's Secret, GameStop (skip this one, the one by Kohls has a better selection..or so my video-gaming nerd boyfriend tells me), Express, The Buckle, and Maurices remaining. There are a few chain stores I failed to mention but nothing too noteworthy. If you are looking for the true mall experience, the closest mall I'd recommend would be Orland Mall. read more

For any other remotely-populated area, I'd give this 2 stars. Seeing as community development in Kankabourboley is pretty sucky though, we'll give it a 3-star rating. Positives: There actually ARE a lot of okay places in here. I'm not going to say the place is *sufficiently* equipped with shops, but if I ever needed to go clothes shopping, I'd probably come here. Maybe I'm just impressed by the fact they have an Express, I don't know. Negatives: Stores are leaving, because they are realizing how much of a fail this mall is. I don't know why the mall is failing, because the teenage angst in this area is probably one of the highest in the area...can't go anywhere without running into a mob of North Face'd white kids enjoying their daddy's money. Throw in Olivet students on top of that, and this mall should be hopping. If anything negative is to be said about this point, it might just be terrible management and marketing of the mall in general. (Not that I mind much - I'd rather have no people than a bustling mall, personally.) Unfortunately, the clientele reflects the cruminess of the mall. It's about a 50/50 toss up of whether or not you'll see a mall cop chasing around some loser kid that doesn't have anything better to do with life than shoplift or just be a general nuisance. All in all, if you're dying for a mall to power-walk through with all of your granny friends, Northfield is here for you. But probably not for long. read more

This mall has declined to just about nothing since it's opening in October of 1990. They fountains have been replaced with potted plants and the stores have slowly closed their doors. The anchors of the store are Carson's, JC Penny, Sears, and Movies 10. Pretty much the only reason I step foot in the mall is to go to Bath and Body Works and Victoria's Secret. Sometimes the Buckle. If you're looking to waste time or do some major shopping, head up to Orland or over to Merrillville. read more

Even tho this mall is a little show. Shopping is still good. The mall is clean and kept up unlike some. I hear a new company as taken over developing the mall so we will see what's to come. The fountains are back on so that makes for some fun. read more

There were about twenty people inside the while mall at a time. Small business owners are anxious for customers. Sears is gone- one food court restaurant left, 'Tasty's Café', doesn't even have someone working there half of the time, although it's open. 50% of the mall is vacant. Really depressing. read more

A pretty dhitty and depressing place. As a kid in the 90s, it was awesome, but I've by one all the cool stores closed. By the mid-2000s the place was the shithole it is today. There are some good stores, but they will more than likely close. I'm pretty sure the department store anchors are what keep the place open. If things don't change there quickly, this place will be an abandoned building within the next few years. If you're looking for good food though, check out the Great Steak and Potato Co. in the food court. read more

This mall is terrible, but I give it two stars because it still has a few decent stores left, but they seem to drop like flies. I love love love malls and I live close to this one but I can hardly spend more than an hour there before I'm completely bored out of my mind. Needs a lot of work. read more

This mall has turned into a dead zone. There is practically no stores left or at least no good stores left inside this mall. It's pretty much abandoned. They have a lot of stores inside the mall that are stores you've never heard of before & purely junk is sold inside them. I wouldn't recommend going to this mall. It's unfortunate, because this mall used to be pretty popular when I was younger. read more

This mall is an absolute dead zone anymore. It's downright depressing. The food court literally has one restaurant, Tasty's Cafe, and I don't even see an employee in there. Almost every store is closed down. The memory of what this place once was makes it even more depressing... So very sad... read more

Let me start by saying I absolutely love this place. My husband and I were referred here by a friend and it was such a great decision. We went in looking for an engagement ring and later band sets. We got the luxury of working with Monique. She has such amazing professionalism and with as many times as we went in even got to see the pleasant side of Monique like she was our friend. Monique helped us create a custom wedding band for my husband. Monique kept us up to date on the progress via phone and email. We were so impressed with the value and service we went back months later for my new engagement ring setting and matching wedding band. I fell in love with a wedding set that just a bit out of our prices range. Monique helped do a custom made wedding set to look like the set I wanted only within our price range. Monique worked with the jeweler vendors to design my ring, which I saw CAD drawings that I had to approve before production. Monique even got the jeweler to send us a wax made replicate of the ring before I committed. Everything turned out perfect. The store overall is great. We met the owners several times which you don't always get the pleasure of doing with jewelry stores. We never felt pressured to buy anything and the sales associates are more than eager to help you even when they know you aren't buying anything. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for wedding rings. read more

With the NEW Hibbett Sports store opening across from Finish Line and Foot Locker, the mall has a new crutch to lean on. The store is great for all ages and carries a variety of sports equipment, fashion and sports apparel, as well as up to date Jordan, Nike, and Under Armour gear. The customer service I received was phenomenal and second to none. It's nice to finally see a store that welcomes you at the door with a smile and has a passion for customer service! I wish other stores could do the same. I will definitely be revisiting. read more

This mall is a great place to visit! There are so many hidden treasures in each store! I would definitely recommend hitting up the candy stores they have! Not too shabby! To be very suttle and frank the mall is a dump! The Sears should be CLOSED! I went into the store to look for a new stove only to see a roach on the floor,urine on the carpet in the fitting room,only one register in the store and then looking at a stove only to have the employee's in the store more concerned about talking to one another then helping customer's! I got soo sick beside mad I just walked out (and must say no loss to me)! read more
