I was in Forsyth for work and yelped bars. Northside Cheers popped up as an option. Growing up watching the TV show "Cheers" naturally sparked my interest in this place. I dropped in on a Tuesday and I was immediately welcomed by the bartender. The patrons were just as friendly and welcoming. I was told every Tuesday is team/individual trivia night. Team "Us" invited me to be a part of their team (I was zero help). Ultimately I made new friends and had an amazing experience. Oh, their tater tots are delicious. read more

We stayed in Macon as a pit stop on our way to Florida. Found Cheers after a quick online search and we totally lucked out! A great place where a couple of travelers didn't feel like outsiders. Friendly bar staff that know how to make a damn good Old Fashioned. We ordered the double fried wings that were really good. We will definitely be "Macon" this a repeat stop when traveling south. read more

We went to hear the band, Karen and Greg Crawford !!! They were just amazing. They play mainly 70's music. What talented and charismatic musicians! And the food was great, too. I had the stuffed mushroom appetizer and the fried shrimp basket. Both were perfectly cooked! And the slaw was quite good. We didn't have room for dessert, but they looked good too. Stop by for some great atmosphere and food! And they have live quality music too!!! read more

We decided to try Northside Cheers on Saturday and what a great decision that was! We are just driving thru and usually like to go to places where the locals hang out. Our bartender, Maddie, was right on top of things! As it got busier, two other bartenders showed up and also were very friendly. I ordered the Goose Burger. It was thick and juicy and cooked to perfection! The kettle chips came out nice and warm and there was not a soggy one in the bunch! Husband had the hamburger steak with two sides and cleaned his plate!!Of course, there are drink specials! And there was entertainment! Spoke with the new owner several times who said they were going to do some remodeling soon. They will be redoing the outdoor deck as well. And what can I say about the locals?? They were friendly and welcoming and one bought me a drink! We definitely will stop by again when driving thru. What started out to be a quick bite and a drink lasted 4-5 hours! This is probably one of the best hole in the wall bar and grills in Macon. I use to live next door to Cheers and would come in here all the time for some drinks and good food. The staff here is always friendly and as Sally J. mentioned it really is like the famous Cheers show where everybody knows your name when you come in. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in while on a break from a road trip. It was '80s night and a fun vibe. The bar staff were super welcoming and warm and even pulled strings for me to get something off menu from the kitchen. The owner is down in the trenches with the staff and clearly passionate about making this place great. Would definitely visit again if/when we're in Macon again. read more

This place was closed for remodeling for a while, and I just visited a few weeks ago once it was back in business. The menu seemed a lot smaller this time around, and it seems like some of my old favorites were missing. Where are the crab legs?!? The inside was definitely spiffed up and service was good, but the menu was so limited that we struggled to find something we wanted to order. If you want a basic burger or wings, then you're fine, but if you want anything outside of very basic bar food (or anything that's not fried) then you're out of luck. read more

Great alternative to the bar scene of downtown Macon. Dive bar feel without feeling like a hipster bar or being pretentious. Have great food and beverage deals almost everyday of the week (crab legs, shrimp baskets, all you can eat catfish, etc.). Also have specials on UGA game days in the fall. This is a little local bar that we found with the help of YELP. The food is above average and the atmosphere is charming. You can tell that the locals like it here. It is a great place for a beer and some bar food. We had shrimp baskets that were the special that night. They were worth the money. The manager/owner came to our table to visit with us. I always find that to be most impressive. I would certainly go there again when in town for the evening. It is only a couple miles from the Fairfield, Courtyard and maybe Residence Inn. read more

I just moved from the DC area and was looking for good crabs. I found this place on yelp and saw that they had a crab leg special on Saturdays only. I just went this past Saturday and was BLOWN away, The Staff gets 5 stars as well as the food... I wish I could remember my waiters name, he was a young guy with the BEST personality. He made sure our experience and food were perfect. As well as the other waitresses within the restaurant. Now... The "New" appetizer menu was out of this world. We tried the fried pickles, refried wings, and the fries. They were all reasonably priced (better than reasonably priced) And tasted better than anything I've had in a very long time. The crab legs came out and they were sooo sweet. Being from the DC area I missed the OLD BAY seasoning I'm used to, But the crab legs were sooo good it didn't matter much. Cheers is now going to be one of my regular spots. I love this place. read more

The only place I will go to for simply the best Cheeseburger in town. The best food menu here by far from catfish to crab legs, wings, burgers...you name it. Everything is fresh and cooked to order. And the drinks are always perfect. The atmosphere is so relaxing and inviting. A hidden jewel! Not to mention the fact that Misty and Bubba make it feel like home with amazing service everytime.
