This place recently underwent a major facelift. The Irish pub aesthetic is very cute and unique for downtown Macon. They even have a beer garden out back. The food is also uniquely Irish/British inspired. However, as a non-native, I cannot comment on the authenticity of the dishes. Their drink menu was a bit lacking. For it being a pub, I would have expected them to have more unique brews on tap. We sat on the patio out front and our server rarely came out to check on us which forced us to go inside to ask for things. read more

Very disappointed in food. Atmosphere was great. My husband and I sat at bar on a Monday afternoon. It was slow but that was expected due to the time of day. But after waiting over 30 mins for food, we were very disappointed. My husband had the Ruben which was ok, but I ordered a veggie pizza that came out 10 minutes after his meal and it was cold, uncooked dough and full of cheese with no sauce. Maybe a good recommendation is to be just a party fun spot and not try to be high in restaurant. Cost of drinks are too high, service just ok and food not worth the price. DO NOT ORDER THE CORNED BEEF. The corned beef here is cut in half inch slices. It's served like a ham steak. It's extremely fatty and it's extremely chewy. Anyone with culinary knowledge knows that corned beef should be sliced on the thin side. It should be cut with the side of a fork -- I've been to Irish pubs far and wide and never have I seen such an abomination. It should be stricken from the menu. read more

Great service, ambiance and food! My husband and I were hesitant to try the Bavarian pretzels but once the server mentioned they were made in house we had to. They were delicious! We were in Macon for lunch on our way to the ATL airport. The place we wanted to eat in dt Macon looked SUPER busy so we walked over to Bearfoot and randomly decided to give it a try. Oh.Em.Geee. I dream about the El Gringo burger I had there. I recommend it to anyone I know who mentions Macon. Grits. On a burger. With spicy sauce. Swooon. In general, I'm cool with my mom moving out of Georgia but legit sad I will not have an excuse to be in Macon and eat this amazing burger. It really was THAT good. Unfortunately they didn't have a kids menu (3/2022) but my kid ordered a pasta dish from the regular menu and really enjoyed it. The best part off Bearfoot Tavern is that it's pet friendly. I am willing to try this spot once again. When we ate here today, which our first time, it was after two pm so it was well after the lunch rush hour. For starters we ordered fried green tomatoes and a hummus platter. I would not recommend the fried green tomatoes here, the tomatoes was extremely hard and was yellow, not green. The hummus platter was a delightful surprise. The hummus was very tasty, and it was served with celery and carrot sticks, cucumbers, and a delicious toasted pita bread. For our entree, myhusband and daughter both ordered the Shepherd's Pie. My daughter rated it an A. My husband always orders Shepherd's Pie if we dine out and appears on the menu. He has never been displeased when ordering this dish except for today. When I asked him to rated his meal he responded with a "B" I suppose, it had no flavor, it was very bland. This was the first time he had Shepherd's Pie thaground meat and mash potatoes only. Generally, shepherd's pie has at least one of these vegetables in the dish; corn, green peas, and carrots. At he Cheesecake Factory zucchini is included in their shepherd' pie. read more

Barefoot tavern has been around for a while. If I recall correctly it used to be in a different building. Restaurant is pretty spacious there seems to be ample seating. They opened early for the US world cup finals so when we arrived at 11:00 a.m. it was already very lively and the bar was full. Service was excellent! Rose was attentive and on top of her section. We never needed for anything and she is so bubbly and sweet. We tried the buffalo chicken soup which was a special of the day. I would get this again. There was tons of chunks of chicken and it tasted exactly like buffalo chicken dip in soup form. Always go for the fried green tomatoes when in middle Georgia. However, I would absolutely skip the pizza next time. Was not a fan of the crust at all! Overall a solid spot with a good menu and food. read more

Stopped in here to take a break and stretch our legs from a long road trip. We had our dog with us so it was a great perk that they have outdoor seating in the front and on a back covered patio that is all dog friendly. The waitress brought our pup out some water and was quick with taking our order. The back patio is cool, and although it was empty when we were there it features a bar and stage that I'm sure gets packed as a trendy beer garden. We had the medium buffalo wings (extra crispy) and the black bean egg roll. Both were good, but the chicken wings deserve an extra shout out because they were just right with spice and crisp. read more

Very disappointed in this place. Used to go here often when attending Mercer. I hear it is under new ownership and it has gone downhill. I should have looked at the most recent reviews. I never even got a chance to eat, but that sounds about right based on most recent reviews. Stopped in and waited at empty host stand for 10 minutes. Staff and bartenders could see me waiting but no one really cared. Finally someone asked how many and said it would be a minute. 20 minutes later I flag down the same gentleman and he tells me he has no idea how long til I can be seated. The back is full of empty tables. When I ask why that information was not shared with me he shrugs, blames his manager and walks away. Oh well went to another local establishment for a great dinner. With so many options downtown I would try somewhere else. I may try again when back in town if the reviews improve but for now I would say skip this place until they figure out how to operate. read more

I walked in hungry and I walked out full. It's Tuesday night and downtown Macon seems quiet. Coming from Nashville, where even a Tuesday night has a party, or even Franklin, just south of Nashville, where restaurants will be just shy of full, Macon feels near empty. The bar is at 75% but the restaurant is nearly empty. I don't know how they pay the staff and cover other overhead and food cost. The wings were good, jerk seasoning just spicy enough. The pimento cheese balls tasty but just a hair too cool - another 30 seconds in the fryer would have been good. And the black bean egg rolls were very good. There's plenty of beer for any taste, and it might take you a minute just to figure out what to go with. read more

I don't know what took me so long to try this place. Stopped for a quick bite, tried their black bean spring rolls and a salad. The spring rolls were yummy. The salad was basic and nothing to write about. I ate at the bar which was actually pretty packed, the rest of the restaurant not so much. Vegetarian friendly menu. Several meatless options, plus you can sub a black bean patty on there burgers. The bartender did her job, and that's about it. My cocktail of the night was the French mule. Friendly bar area. Stopped in on my drive between Atlanta and The Coast. Perfect halfway point before getting on the I-16. Charcuterie board was good, drinks were perfect. Stopped here with some friends on the way to SC for a weekend trip and LOVED IT. There was something for everyone! We were seated right away on Friday night and sat across from the kitchen. Our server was phenomenal (wish I remembered her name!) and patient with us though we took forever to decide what to order. I ordered a Margherita Pizza which could've been shared with another person, or taken a couple slices home for later, but NOPE! I ate the whole thing. There was a quite a bit of black dust/ash on the bottom of one piece that I brushed off and made a decent-sized pile out of, but that didn't bother me. It is made in a brick oven, afterall. This was easily the most disappointing breakfast I have ever had in the Warner Robins/Macon area. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because our server was very nice. So I went for brunch and ordered 3 items the Ceppis omelette, Waffle tower, and the shrimp and grits. Let's start with the only good thing, the omelette. It had shaved rib, cheese sauce, and some type of pepper in it. It was tasty and well seasoned. That is literally the only good thing I can say about the food. The waffle tower was literally two waffles that were very much like Eggo waffles, you know when you leave them in the toaster forget about them and come back to eat them later. Yeah, they were similar to eating cardboard. It was gross. They were also described as being covered in berries and that was far from the case as you can see in my picture. My shrimp and grits were described as blackened shrimp over signature cheesy grits. First of all it came with like 5 pieces of shrimp that were most definitely not blackened, more like sautéed in a pan full of water and a little butter. It was laughable at best. The grits were thicker then molasses and tasted like nothing!! Where the hell was the cheese? Even my 5 year old asked for salt. I most definitely won't be back here for brunch. Some establishments just need to focus on what their good at. I might come back to try their dinner options and see if they can perform in that area. This was the biggest waste of my money ever 11$ for 5 shrimp, 9$ for cardboard, and 14$ for the half decent omelette. read more

Worst dining experience I've ever had. Took 2 hours to get food. Food was similar to school cafeteria food. And staff was completely without any care for whether we were satisfied or not. The new Bearfoot Tavern definitely has a new feel to it. It's part bar/pub, part restaurant and part beer garden all in one. The outdoor beer garden and patio area is perfect for live music and other events! Lots of TVs in the bar and dining areas if you're looking for a social atmosphere to watch a game, or if your chosen company just isn't keeping you entertained. :) One of the larger craft beer selections on tap in town, both local GA and national breweries. You can opt for a flight of four samples for $9 to try em out. Ask about their $2 beer selections which are usually out of season pours, think Christmas Ale in summertime. But hey, two bucks is two bucks. Food is typical pub fare with some slight twists to go for a more modern and upscale feel. The pimento bacon fritters and beer batter brat bites are good apps to try. The PBT grilled cheese is great, love the naan bread. I also like the Southern Soul sandwich, and friends enjoyed the Asian noodle salad and burgers ordered. read more
