This company took advantage of a 90 year old woman and is insisiting she pay out a 6 year contract for a home she no longer lives in. She did NOT understand what she was signing and any decent human being would have known that from the moment their pushy salesman showed up at her door. The customer service people are awful to deal with over the phone! I have been told the only way this contract can be cancelled is if she is in a nursing home or deceased. So a 90 year old who has family to care for her but lives on a fixed income is expected to pay over $2300 for nothing. That is absurd. Do not use this company!! I am making it my mission to cost this company as many customers as possible. They installed the "free" system in the house and it was inoperable due to the installer being on his 1st day at the job. A call to customer support got a polite operator who claimed a tech would be at the house to fix the problem within 2 days. 5 days later a call to come take their equipment back was met with a hostile operator who stated that we had waited longer than the allowed 3 days and we were, and I quote, "stuck with us for the next 60 months". The woman was aggressively rude stating that they would take the money from our bank account. (they didn't have the account info yet) The last threat was taking us to court. At the time of my Northstar installation I was informed the Carbon Monoxide detector was connected to my Northstar system. The Northstar installer person informed me all systems OK. Now come to find out when my Carbon Monoxide detector fails to work properly , They can't help me because its a detector from the previous company. They now want me to pay an additional $200 for a Carbon Monoxide detector. This is a rip off. read more

I emailed Aaron two times and have heard nothing back. The first time he was in Cc with my formal cancellation notice and the second time directly after I saw his yelp post offering to help. I also sent my certified mail cancellation notice that arrived at the NorthStar facility on Saturday, July 22. I guess they are still searching for the recording of the fictitious phone conversation they say that took place in November 2016 where I "verbally" renewed for 5 years... I signed up for this alarm service on April 4, 2019. A few months after that, a negative financial condition happened and I decided I would have to cut down on bills. I called North Star and asked if they could lower my options, so I could reduce the $60 a month fee on my credit card. NO was the answer. If I wanted to quit the service, I would have to pay a $2000 fee -- a fine. That is not going to happen. I was NOT given a contract to view, nor do I have one in hand. I was NOT told it was a FIVE YEAR contract. What?! Since I am a 74 year old widow, I am claiming elder abuse on this; financial exploitation of a senior. I went to my bank to let them know my credit card was "lost." All automatic payments would cease on that card. At this time, I'm waiting for North Star to contact me for non-payment. They can come and get their equipment. I have not used it since the day I went to the bank. read more

DO NOT GET A MONITORING CONTRACT WITH NORTHSTAR. We upgraded our current alarm system with their keypad and monitoring which was not anything great. The salesperson told my husband it was an 18 month contract. Later we found that what he signed was a 5 year contract. When we chose to cancel our service about 4 years in, because we no longer used the alarm, and it was malfunctioning. We learned that it was a 5 year contract. It was frustrating because the The keypads they sold us, did not work anymore.. They state I need to pay for a repair it. out of pocket. I dont want the alarm, nor the service so why would I pay to repair it? We were told we were bound for the full 5 years of payment. I think it is awful that Northstar Alarm company makes you sign a contract when all they gave you was a new keypad on your existing alarm (and took the old keypad from us) and if you dont read it carefully you are bound to a minimum of 5 years. WAIT it gets worse, and then the fine print states if not notified prior to 60 days before end of term you are automatically extended for 18 months. We had notified them well in advance 8 months prior to cancellation of the 5 year required contract. A year goes by and then realized they were still taking out every month from our checking account. We called to have it reversed. They indicate we didnt follow the appropriate protocal and we are stuck for another 18 months. Seriously? We then sent in via the appropriate protocal. We also called our bank and had them stop the payments. Five weeks later I get called about missing a payment. They state they wont consider a cancellation request unless the account is current. We were current as of the date of the cancellation request, AND that the email and fax we sent the cancellation request to ( told to us by their employee 5 weeks ago was incorrect for their Cancellation Department, and that we need to do it again! ) It is ruthless business practice read more

A salesman came knocking on our door and asked for us by name, and when we asked how he had our information, he said a "data mine" which was not reassuring, then continued to try to tell us how he was able to offer us a FREE home security system and that we were in a prime location so Northstar wanted us to be a sponsored home. He even started name dropping all these people in my neighborhood (who I don't know) to make it seem like he was trustworthy and that everyone was jumping on this deal. He also claimed Northstar was BBB accredited and unfortunately, we fell for his whole act. Let's just say it has been an awful experience, and if someone knocks on your door offering anything "free" - tell them to get lost. read more

Sales experience was top notch, and so was the installation...so that's the only reason they are getting 2 stars. The honeymoon is over. Got cameras installed along with the system, that we were able to look at wirelessly on our phones and away from home. They worked great for a few months, until we realized that they had been hooked up to our cable box, so it was disrupting the service. Called customer service and after waiting weeks for an appointment, the guy came and had no clue what to do. He said he doesn't deal with that type of camera. So he said he'd tell the office to send somebody else. Well, that was 3 months ago and the other tech that was supposed to come has made 4 appointments and has cancelled them ALL the same day he's supposed to come. He definitely doesn't care about customers and I'm done. I'm not naming names, but if someone at North Star wants them, might as well come and fix the damn thing! I was in my 3 year contract through November 30, 2014. I moved my service to my new home in August of 2014. I knew my contract was coming to an end and asked what I needed to do to cancel; since we hardly ever used the system. I was told that we just had to give a 30 day written notice. So...Here it is December 12, 2014. With getting married in October I forgot to deliver my cancellation notice. I call Northstar to see what I have to do, and am told that I would've needed a 60 day notice and that my contract auto renewed on November 16th...for 18 months!!! I received no letter or had any other form of contact from them. They said I may be eligible for a discount, but I'd have to agree to a longer term!!!! I feel like they offer us a system to protect us from thieves, but truly they are the thieves themselves. I do not recommend doing business with Northstar. ADT was so much easier to trust. read more

Very, Very disappointed with their service. A faulty sensor was triggering a broken glass alarm but NSAS didn't respond, call or really seem to care. If I could give them less then 1 I definitely would. Tried to cancel but said we are locked in for 5 years no exception or they will charge the full amount of the next 15 months for canceling. I have had nothing but disappointing experiences with Northstar going back to January of this year. On January 4, Nick Nelson contacted me to extend my service agreement. I declined and asked him to convert my account to month-to-month once my 4 year term expired. I didn't receive an email response from Nick Nelson. Fast forward to August, and I called Northstar to cancel my service, as I was recently relocated abroad. Brett Tolbert said I needed to provide proof that I was relocated, because Nick Nelson had not converted my account to month-to-month as requested. Brett then asked for a signed statement that I wished to cancel my account. A cheap attempt at creating another hurdle for people to cancel an account. I provided this signed request on 18 August to Brett Tolbert by email. On 19 August I requested Brett to confirm that my account was canceled. I did not receive an email response. Because of the poor response and customer service from Brett and Nick, I called Northstar on 27 August to verify that my account had been canceled from 1 September and I would not be charged. I spoke with Sierra Conforti and she promised that my account was turned off and I would not be charged. Not surprising, on 1 September, my credit card was charged. On 7 September, I called to get my money back that was wrongly charged for September. I spoke with Ian Harris who told me the person who provides refunds was not in the office but he promised to get it taken care of that day. Two weeks later, still no refund. I called on 27 September and spoke to someone who claimed to be a supervisor. I did not catch their name. I explained my experiences with Northstar and how shocked I am that a company can have such pitiful customer service and still be in business. Particularly a services business with no discernable product offerings versus the competition. This person actually had my refund sent through that day. Amazing how the right thing can be done quickly if they make it a priority. I was glad to have all this behind me. The money was never the issue, it was being treated fairly from a company whom I had been a customer for 4 years. I had planned on restarting my service with Northstar when I move back to the US in two years. As you can imagine, after this experience there is zero chance of that happening. And now, I have received an email on 7 October claiming that my account was Past Due. Cant wait to have Northstar explain this one. If you are considering signing up with them, I recommend looking at the countless other security options first. read more

A random salesperson showed up at my front door on a Saturday, parking directly in front of my house. I only answered because I am having home improvents done and I thought he was with one of my contractors. I politely stopped him in the middle of his sales speil and informed him that I was not interseted. He replied that that was fine and he would find someone else to take Northstar's free service and abruptly left to go irritate other potential victims. Less than five minutes later, the rest of the neighborhood ran him, and his "free" services, off. This company has been the most horrible company I have ever worked with. It has taken them six weeks to get their product installed in my home. The installers have been in and out of my home sometimes they don't even show up at all. They came without any knowledge of their product or how to install it. The main installer that was here spent most of his time on the phone with someone else learning the product and how to do it. When they did get everything installed it only worked for three days and then Just now I had an installer leave saying that everything will work properly now although the doorbell camera does not work with my iPad. I have dealt with a bunch of them at their customer service center and sales and I'm NOT impressed with their customer service or their product. I have absolutely NO faith that they will follow through with keeping my home safe. I have not even paid for one month of this and they won't let me out of the contract so I am calling my attorney to see how I can get out of the contract because I don't want to be stuck with this ridiculous company for 42 months. The System started off great i was pleased with the system. The installer was lacking ALL knowledge. He was constantly on the phone with someone while installing the system. i didn't mind i understand being stuck on a job and not having a full understanding of the system and needing help. After a SIX hour install (was quoted 1.5hrs max) he unable to finish as he messed up the door lock and it would not work. 1 week later he came back and installed a new lock but took off the metal plate that was on the door frame removing that takes all strength away from the frame as it is wood and told me i could figure out how to put it on myself if i wanted. The lock still never worked and after multiple techs, replacing battery's 4 or 5 times, and dozens and dozens of phone calls. i finally had enough and cancelled my services. My experience overall is that customer service is a joke and will only help when they know they will get a sale. The techs CLEARLY need more training as not one was ever able to get the lock working. Not once did anyone say "well sir i don't think this style of lock will work with your door/system lets try another or give up on it and get you a different product to replace it" I would have been more than happy to do that. The only way i could get any good response out of customer service was to get angry which i don't like doing cause 99% of the time its not the person im talking to's fault. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone nor would i ever get there system again. read more

We bought a house that already had a system installed, and instead of shopping around, we simply called Northstar and asked if they could just transfer it to us. Thank God my husband was smart enough to make them give us a 30 day trial period instead of the THREE day, yes, THREE days they initially offered.The guy who handled the account set-up was wonderful, but things only went downhill from there. It took 10 days to get a technician out to look the system over and show us how to use it. In that time, we had several weird incidents with the system and finally just left it off. He installed a new control panel, and we added a CO2 sensor and another motion detector, and all seemed to be working fine when he left. Within a couple of days it started giving us problems again and when I called to ask them to send someone out, the technician on the phone insisted it was due to an issue with the translator and when I told him we didn't have a translator because they were the ones who installed the system, he actually argued with me over it. They finally agreed to send someone out and we were left over a holiday weekend with a system we didn't dare to use. Again, it took about 10 days for someone to come out, and he couldn't find anything wrong, so he replaced the batteries in the sensors that were giving faults, and called it good. The following Monday we received a call from Northstar asking my husband to do a bunch of stuff with the control panel, seems the people we bought the house from had reactivated their account in their new home and our equipment was associated with them, and that's what was causing our problems. Apparently Texas and California are too far apart. LOL Once I took the time to look around, and I started questioning their service agreement, I decided they just weren't worth keeping. When I called to cancel they made very little effort to try and keep me as a customer and I was told to send an email to their service department notifying them of my intent. No one responded to the email, but about a week later I got a call from a technician to inform me he was on his way to uninstall the system--good thing I was home and available. Even though they informed me the equipment belonged to them, Northstar had no idea what components were even installed in our house. When the guy came out to uninstall the system, he didn't even know exactly what he was looking for, I had mentioned the fire and CO2 units twice and pointed them out to him when I showed him where the motion sensor was in the garage. I had to move some things so he could reach it, so while I did that, he went back in the house and took down the panel and the window sensors. I realized within minutes of him leaving that he had not removed the fire and CO2 and I had forgotten to give him the keyfobs. I immediately called Northstar but they didn't get a response from him and I didn't hear anything more until a couple weeks later when I received a letter with a shipping label enclosed asking me to return their equipment. Unfortunately, the list in the letter was incorrect. I called and she said she would note it on the account, but I also sent an email to the service department asking for them to send me a confirmation that they had received the components their technician had already removed, and which pieces I was going to be mailing, but received no response. They want you to sign a contract that's almost 4 years long, then, if you don't give them six months notice of cancellation, they automatically sign you up to another 18 months. And if you read it--which many do not--you discover that they reserve the right to increase their fees without any warning after the first year. They didn't even keep a record of what was installed in the house, they showed a terrible lack of communication, and 10 days to get service when something goes wrong? For $50 a month? Puh-lease. They did honor their agreement to extend the trial-period, and they gave us credits for the time that we couldn't use the system, so at this point it looks as though this fiasco hasn't cost me anything but time and inconvenience. *cross fingers* read more

I just signed up for service 2-5-19 since then I have had 3 false alarms, I had to have them disconnect the garage door sensor because the city sent a notice they were going to charge $85 per occurrence for false alarms. Plus this is the 3rd time my video doorbell has stopped working. I have had to call to try and have it reset which took over an hour only for it to stop working a week later. I called to tell them I needed a tech to come out and fix these issues for which they refused and said the issues could be resolved over the phone. It cannot. Then I said if my equipment is not working I want to cancel and go with another company whos equipment does work. I was told I was in a contract and I would still have to pay in full for the remaining months which would cost $2500. I am in the process of hiring a contract lawyer for breach of contract. Today I had 2 sales representatives come into my business @7:30 pm,one started his sales pitch and had asked me if I already had a security system installed and if so who was it with. With so many resent scams I told him I wouldn't give him that information and told him to leave.He told me I had an attitude and would do what he wanted,I then demanded that he would leave and it then esculated with him assaulting me in front of customers,as I drew for my weapon,the other sales rep tried to get him to back off and leave,as they existed the door he shouted racial slurs and said he be back,they drove off in a mini van with outta state plates.I called the police immediately,thank god for the survelliance cameras to show them and hopefully they will be identified. Absolutely the worst. One summer a representative of NorthStar came through our neighborhood selling systems, my husband and I entertained his sales pitch and were convinced that it would be a good investment for our home. We had expressed that we previously had an alarm company who took our money for over a year without actively monitoring our home, so we were paying them for nothing. He told us that we wouldn't have to worry about that with NorthStar and that they had the best monitoring and so on. He also stated that our service would never be sold. Well come to find out a few months later our account was sold to the company we previously had issues with. Now our account has been sold a few more times and our monthly charges keep going up and up but we are unable to cancel because we will have to pay a termination fee for the contract we original signed with NorthStar and we also are unable to get our bill reduced without signing a new contract. This has been nothing but a headache, don't fall for their sales pitches as they are filled with lies. read more

DO NOT use this company!!!!! I have never felt the urge to give a poor review to any company before now. I was dumb enough to sign the 60 month term with this company and complete said term. In a day and age were landlines are no longer needed, I canceled my landline. After canceling my landline in May 2014, I have been trying to cancel this service. All I get is the run around. It wasn't until December of 2014, that I was informed that I have to cancel service in writing and sign the "Notice of Cancelation." WHAT?!?!?!?! So now I am moving, called them again to cancel and again they say I need to cancel in writing and that I had to complete my new term!!! I never approved of, signed up for or was even told about a new term!!!! I have been trying to stop and cancel the service since May of 2014. Keep in mind the whole time $39.99 has been automatically withdrawn from my account. The new term ends in August of 2015. Furious I ask to speak to a manager who confirms that indeed my contract renewed. I expressed my frustration at which he put me on hold to speak to a operations manager. The operations manager stated the best they could do was cancel it 60 days upon the receipt of my "Notice of Cancelation." My alarm system did not work and has not been for years now. I called them back then and was basically told i had no choice but to pay for an upgrade since their system was not compatible to my phone system which mind u was the same phone system when they first installed the alarm. Does this mean the alarm wasnt working in the first place??? I patiently waited until my contract expired. Sent an email back in April to a manger clearly saying i want the contract done by the time it is due to expire which is in june, No response. I emailed again last week to their general email box ... Got a reply saying my contract was extended for 18 months!!!!! Emailed again 3 times after that, still no response. How can you treat people this way??? You are getting $42/ month for years now knowing there is no service being rendered....AND have the audacity to extend??? I am waiting for a response still.... In the meantime seeking legal advice. I am incredibly disappointed with the business practices at Northstar alarm services. We got our alarm system in 2007 before our first child. We signed a five year contract. It's now 2015 and we want to cancel because we have never received any upgrades in 8 years and we found a more affordable, up-to-date system. Hunter Swensen wanted to charge us for the next 18 months due to this auto-renewal clause! This is for services we aren't even using. We were loyal customers for almost 8 years and will never return to this company. We were finally able to work with Nick who agreed to *only* charge us for three months. It's easier to get out of a rental contract than work with Northstar Alarms systems and be aware that you will not receive any paperwork for any auto-renewals, but you will be charged insane prices without any upgrades. read more

Las Vegas NV. BAIT AND SWITCH!! I had a door to door salesman approach my door about a year ago, and convinced my wife and I to "allow" Northstar to install an alarm system in our house for the cheap rate of $60 per month. In return, I would get all of their equipment installed for free, and as long as I kept their sign in my front yard, and the sticker in my front window, he ensured to me that my rate would not go up for 60 months. I explained to the salesman that I did not want to enter into a 60 month term, and he explained to me multiple times that I would not be locked into a 60 month term, only that my rate would not increase in those 60 months, and I had the option to cancel service at any time. We agreed to the installation, because we had only been living in our house for 6 months, and had our garage broken in to, where some very valuable items were stolen, and a house alarm seemed like a good solution to help prevent this problem. So upon completion of the installation, a Representative from Northstar called me and mentioned to me that I would be entering into a 60 month term. So while I was on the phone with the Representative, (knowing that this call would be recorded), I asked the salesman, which was sitting on my couch, why the lady was telling me that I was entering into a 60 month term. He ensured to me again, on a RECORDED telephone call, that the 60 months was just to lock in my rate. A couple days after they installed this system, I got a message on the automated keypad saying that there was an issue with the garage door sensor that they had just installed, not even a week prior. We called Northstar, and rather than sending a technician back out, they tried to have my wife troubleshoot their alarm system. My WIFE! They wanted to talk my wife through electrical wiring, and sensors, rather than sending someone back out, claiming that they were trying to save me a 35 dollar service call fee. So when I ended up calling them, it turned out to be a battery issue, (apparently their techs carry dead batteries on their trucks for new installs), and I had to do the troubleshooting, maintenance, and I had to pay for the new batteries out of my own pocket. Yeah, I know, batteries are a couple dollars, but nonetheless, it is the principle of the matter. I was also told about their Mobile App, that by the way does not work. During their initial install at my house, the tech installed 2 "Glass Break Sensors" that are designed to set the alarm off if any of my windows get broke when the alarm is active. My concern with the installation of these sensors were, what if my kids drop a glass cup, or glass plate? Will it set the sensors off? I was told no, because the glass break sensors are designed to only pick up the acoustic vibrations of a window being broken, nothing more. Well, let me tell you that it does pick up other acoustic vibrations. This is the main reason why we can not use our alarm at night. If any of our children close their bedroom doors, it will trip the "Glass Break Sensor" and set the alarm off. This has happened at least 7 - 8 times, which results every time with the alarm company either calling our phone or calling us through the intercom keypad that was installed. I left multiple messages with the ladies that called us saying that I would like to have someone from the company to call me to have this problem fixed. I never received a phone call, the excuse the "Supervisor" from Northstar gave me was, "The company that calls you on the intercom is a Contract Company and we cant see their notes." So, what the hell is the point of this Contract Company taking these notes if Northstar does not have access to them? I finally got to my breaking point about 6 weeks ago, so I called Northstar to cancel my service. I was told by the Supervisor, Skylar, that unfortunately I could not cancel because I signed a 60 month term. I explained to him what was said to me by the salesman initially, and also told him that he needed to check the RECORDED phone call at the time of installation. He told me that he would pull those calls for me and get back to me within a week. I have never heard back from Skylar. So I called back about 2 weeks later to talk to another Supervisor. They told me that I couldn't because there was already a Supervisor assigned to my case. After an aggressive approach on my part during the phone conversation, I was able to speak to another Supervisor, Adam. I explained, again, my concerns with Northstar, and Adam assured me that he would get to the bottom of this. I got an email a couple days later saying that nowhere on the RECORDED phone conversation, was there ever a point where I was told by my salesman that I would not be entering into a 60 month term, and here we are 3 weeks later, and I have STILL not heard back from Northstar. So in closing, DO NOT GO WITH NORTHTAR ALARM! They are criminals, and they have the WORST customer service. read more

Sending out a warning to all, this is not the company you want protecting your home. I signed a 3 year (i.e. 36 months) contract with Northstar and when I ended up selling my home, I was thinking of transferring the service and wound up finding a lot of hidden expenses. I requested to cancel my contract and was advised I still owed money even when the contract was complete and the equipment was no charge. I then moved to another state and spent the next 1.5 years (18 months calling each month to cancel my contract and stop the monthly deductions). I continued to be referred once call and cancel, it takes 30 days, than it was once you call it takes 60 days and again once you fax in your cancellation it takes 90 days. I faxed in my cancellation on 8/18/15 and here I am in January 2015 (135 days later) with another deduction from my account. PLEASE save yourself the headache, they are great at first until you actually want to remove service. I am glad I have the dates, times, names and all documented as I will be proceeding with my next steps on resolving this when the cancellation should have occurred on my FIRST request. I am so glad I went with another company and a reputable one with the police department. Read the reviews with the Police Department and do not choose a company not on their list. read more

DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! We have been having service issues for over two months. The company cannot resolve the issue and is now refusing to answer our emails and phone calls. They are also not answering our complaints through the BBB. Their service representatives are trained to be polite, but that's about it. They cannot answer simple technical questions and cannot provide the promised services. But they will continue to bill you, even when they cannot provide service. read more

This company is extremely shady and dishonest. The sales representatives tell you anything, even lies about contract terms and lengths, to get you to sign up. Customer Service exists for the sole purpose of telling you they don't have any obligation to make you happy, read your contract. The fluff about BBB is even more worthless then the BBB usually is. NorthStar pays the fee to print the logo, but nobody intends to address or resolve customer complaints. If you're approached by these guys, turn them away and save your time. If you're leery of this review and want proof, read the contract they offer (actually read, don't let the salesman quote the contract) and you will see their contract is written so they don't have to do one thing to serve or protect you. They are, however, extremely quick to quote how much money you owe them to hang a keypad in your house. Overall, I recommend against monitoring services in favor of a dog, but if you're looking for a monitoring service definitely avoid this company. You will not like the surprises they spring. read more

Stay away from NorthStar Alarm Service!!! First I signed a 5 year contract, then I moved after three years so I paid two more years for nothing just because I was still under contract. I sent in my written cancellation notice 60 days before the end of five year my contract (like I was supposed to) and they conveniently didn't receive it, then they locked me into another 18 month contract, and said that stipulation was in the fine print of the original contract. ( yes, that s another year and a half because they SAY they did't receive my letter). I have subsequently tried to call and fax over and over again and they have only threatened to send me to collections if I didn't pay. The head of customer service department refused to help me and hung up on me. Horrible experience. I hope I can save a few more people from my experience. The sales representative failed to clearly indicate the ridiculous 5 year term of the contact and failed to explain there was no way to exit the contract early. The monitoring service falsely sent police to premises multiple times even when the password verification was provided and this cause numerous false alarm fees to be incurred. We had the equipment removed 18 months before the end of the contract and were force to pay the duration of the contract. Any victim of this companies predatory business practices should demand the company change their contract and make it much cleared that there is no escape form the initial contract term. Also demand more sane contact term lengths and an early escape/cancelation clause be added for any and all service offered by this fly-by-night out of state corporation. read more

This company has horrible customer service and policies that completely screws the customer. We bought the service for 60 months and because we forgot to give them a 60 days notice before our contract ended, we were automatically enrolled in another 18 month contract without any kind of notification to us. This was not thoroughly explained when we first signed up for the service or when we tried to cancel the service early. This company totally scams people into signing up for their service and then trying to cancel their service is like trying to pass an act in congress. They milk you for all your money and then tell you that it's your fault that you didn't read the fine print in your contract which you signed 5 years ago. I have been a NorthStar Customer for 5 years. A door to door rep and installer came, I received free equipment and a 5 year contract. The installation went quickly. The equipment worked like it should. But the customer service I have received in the past year, in regards, to canceling the contract is not worth the free equipment, the quick installation or the working equipment. I have been told incorrect information on a number of occasions, and when I call them on it, they tell me that I am wrong because it is in the notes on my account. Now, I will be the first to tell you that I don't remember everything that happens every day, but if you are dealing with my money, I listen and I remember what you say. I know what they have told me and all they can do is tell me I am wrong. Not I am sorry, I see that you have been a loyal paying customer for 5 years. We never had to collect on your account or worry about getting paid, so let me work with you or let me get to the bottom of this. It has been....you are wrong, and you are wrong because I see it here in the notes. Sorry buddy, your notes are wrong. I have been trying to cancel my service, I no longer live at the address and my renter has no need for it. All I want is the alarm turned off. They are 'doing me a favor' by letting the 18 month automatic contract that you go into after you original contact is up, go because I called earlier in the year about canceling. The guy was suppose to have told me this the last time I talked to them. This is the first I am hearing about it. It is little things like this and the non-forgiving attitude of the reps. To me, good customer service is worth its weight in gold, Northstar is not worth the hassle or time or the money you pay. I don't know how their rates compare but do yourself a favor and go with a company that prides itself on taking care of their customers. WORST COMPANY EVER. No one has any idea what they are doing. They will violate your contract and try to trap you into paying them forever. I have filed formal complaints, repeated stop payments, and everything else I can think of, but they REFUSE to honor my contract and their word, and stop charging me for a property I do not own. They informed me that I have to convince the new owners to sign a 3 or 5 year contract, and if they will not, Northstar will automatically renew my contract for 5 years. This is blatantly illegal. Well I have done what I said I was going to do. I wonder about some of these reviews if they are employees or 1 in a million because every other sight I have seen are not the same results. I got a call today from a manager with Northstar just one of many with no results. I worked in customer service for years and we were taught the customer is always right. I feel their company is a scam and if they could would take advantage of anyone. I am disabled was lied to and told what was on a piece of paper that I signed and couldn't read. Oh well they screwed me. There customer service was well just turn you into collections. I have a lot of family and friends and I intend to let them all know to stay away from Northstar.
