Playground review only:…read more One of the best playgrounds I've been to; it's new, clean, and big. My toddler loved it and so did I. Yes, I went down the slide a few times with my infant and he loved it too. The view from the playground was also spectacular, the rolling hills of Simsbury. This playground is located near a golf course, rink, tennis/basketball courts, and trail. I have not used those yet, so no review on those. The playground had a bunch of picnic tables under a gazebo. There were playscapes for 2-5 year olds as well as 5-12 year olds. One of the playscapes has 3 levels if you count the ground. My favorites were the green tube and red swirly slides. There is a sign to take trash out with you since there are no trash cans. I noticed an older playground down the hill but it was muddy so I didn't go in it. I liked the rubber ground with mulch; smelled really fresh lol. Overall, great playground and will be using it often.

Canton Parks & Recreation does a phenomenal job with keeping the residents occupied. There are many…read moreprograms, events, and activities for people of all ages. The parks are nicely maintained. There is a splash pad that is currently being constructed in Mills Pond Park. They have pools and a playground in that small park. There is a fee to enroll in the activities and programs; check their website for details. Every summer they have a free summer concert series. The department is located in the Community Center, which also houses the library and senior center. The building is pretty big and hosts many events and meetings. The parking lot is a decent size.

It is right next door to the tennis courts. Parking was spacious. The playscape looks new and the playground area was pretty big and fenced in. The large playscape has three levels for the bigger kids. The smaller one is great for toddlers. There is a gazebo with a few picnic tables under it. Down the hill, there are the basketball courts and a smaller, older looking playground. Also, a porta potty is available when nature calls. Overall, one of the best playgrounds I've been to.

There's a trail that takes you down to a pretty pond, waterfall, and wetlands. There's a recreational bonanza of options, with an Olympic sized pool, tennis courts, two baseball fields, basketball courts, a football field, a park, a softball field, a skate park, two pavilions, a soccer field, wading pool, and playgrounds. Did Mr. gray hoodie clean up after Fido? Nope, he just ignored that steaming pile of dog doo, leashed up his dog when it finally sprinted over, and calmly walked away along East Hill Road. The selfish, careless, inconsiderate arrogance was incredible to witness. So, if you're playing out there on the fields, watch where you step.

There is a pavilion with a few picnic tables; you can contact Canton recreation to reserve them for a party. The parking lot has plenty of spaces. There's no trail, just a small paved portion behind the skatepark. I saw plenty of people walking around the park and around the field. My kids really enjoyed playing in the playground. There's a double swing you can put your small child in and you can sit on the swing as well; that was a first for me. A gem and I'm lucky to live close by and be able to use this establishment.

The playground looked new; there were no trash bins so make sure to take your trash out with you. There were a couple of bottles and trash laying around as well as a bag of dog poop. I just took a Pilates class where the instructor didn't even introduce herself. Didn't check to see if anyone was new didn't correct anyone's form Was on her phone a good amount of the time in class. There was no music. She wasn't there early to prepare and they literally talked about alcohol and drinking the entire class. I love camaraderie in a group, but I was there to exercise and though I was able to get a workout, I was so distracted by everything else in the unpleasantness of the focus of the class that I couldn't wait to get out. I have been an instructor for 20+ years so I feel confident sharing this critique. Do better Healthtrax!!

Although one the two hydro massage tables is often broken, this new gym feature, introduced a…read morecouple of years ago, provided a pleasant end to a vigorous workout day. Enter your code and settings, and once a day your membership allowed you to sit back and enjoy a 10 minute hydro massage. Not any more. Without notice, management decided to abruptly end this free gym membership feature and turn it into a revenue stream. Now it charges a monthly extra fee. Another member and I discovered this service subtraction on a recent Saturday morning when we entered our individual codes but the machine failed to respond. I walked over to the front desk to ask them to reboot the machines and was told that management suddenly realized that the hydro massage tables were operating in the red, and thus an extra fee would be charged. There was supposed to have been an email that explained this to members but, sorry, apparently it never went out because many members had questioned why the tables weren't working. I wonder what other machines management is going to soon discover have been operating in the red ? Doesn't the club own these massage machines ? How can members using them cause the club to operate in " the red" ? Bikes ? Treadmills ? Rowing machines ? BTW we were told that the steam room was supposed to have been fixed this Spring but it's the end of June, 2025 and it's still out of commission. Some additional red flags: one of the hand held hairdryers in the men's locker room has had a sign on it saying " out of order" for more than two weeks, there are obvious cut backs in regular cleaning and maintenance - the white tiled top step into the hot tub was filthy last time I was there, Kleenex boxes are no longer provided, plastic bags for wet suits are no longer provided etc. I just hope the local health department regularly checks the water in the pool !

Before entering the pool area, a fee must be paid. There are options to purchase a pool membership or pay a daily drop in fee; drop in fee is $5 for residents and $7 for non residents. You can bring your own chair/blanket to setup on the grassy area. There are drinks and snacks at the concession stand for a fee. They also offer swim lessons. The splash pad is small and simple, coming from Florida we had so many large and elaborate splash pads that were free. I know that this is New England and splash pads aren't a year-round thing so it doesn't have to be free or elaborate but since I was spoiled, I had to deduct a star for that reason. The pools were large and clean and there were plenty of amenities in the park. There is a free playground, skatepark, tennis courts, ball field, basketball courts, and picnic pavilions. Parking is ample.

Found Land is a rectangular forest with a main perimeter hiking trail and a few off-shoot trails…read more The property is 122 acres of woods and trees. The inner loop measures a very manageable 1.65 miles while the outer loop is 2.1 miles. We entered the trail from a cul-de-sac on St. Michaels Court in Avon. It's a residential neighborhood with some huge houses. As we walked the trail, we were practically in the back yards of some of those prestigious houses. The name "Found Land" has a literal meaning - the Connecticut legislature gave the space to the town of Avon after it was "found" during tax mapping during the 1950's. We didn't stay on the well-marked trail very long, because we were bombarded by mosquitos as soon as we started hiking. Maybe once things dry out, we'll head back.

Parking was on gravel with many pot holes. There was a porta potty. There was a large field next to a pond. The playground was placed next to the pond which in turn, was flooded. Unfortunately, we could not use it on this trip. I saw people walking their dog across the field, I'm not sure if there's a trail. After reading about the park on the town of Simsbury's website, there is a soccer field, two fields, and an open space.
