I've been to this location for my drivers license and for updating Alberta Health Cards for my family. They usually have plenty of staff available to help. Even when I come here during busy times I haven't had to wait long. I've had decent experiences with the staff and services provided here. The office is plain looking. The main space is reserved for any long line ups they may have. No complaints here. This will be my main location for registry business. read more

My son went for his road test for class 5. What an absolute joke the lineup was so long and we were so rushed to get it only a few minutes earlier after the lineup! They should put a sign outside for people that book the road test go a different lane. And I have chronic illness and on medication and was so anxious that I couldn't find my pink card and forgot that it's my wallet! The Philippine customer service was not helpful, same as that male examiner. He said he's running out of time after going to our car...and he has to discontinue my son's test and asked us to contact the office. When I called and talked to this KYLEE lady, she just said nothing we can do, no humanity and so unwilling to help. Very disappointed of the attitude and sounds like a scam. They did nothing and told me I would have to repay and rebook regardless of any circumstances. Absolute cash cow, just try and take all the money they can from people, disgusting service. read more

Jackie, was unhelpful and disrespectful. She seemed not to understand what I was wanting to do. I wanted to review vehicles for 2 years, but apparently I was given incorrect information when I called ahead of time. Jackie was rude in informing me of this. I asked to speak to the manager for clarification as to the information I was given who she grudgingly went to get, she rudely told me to wait on the side and I could see her talking about me to other clerks. The manager was also not polite or respectful (I think from the way Jackie was "explaining" things, tainted view?) Overall, such rude, unpleasant service. There are other registries where I will take my business. I had to come to Northtown Registry Services to get my Class 7 learner's license. I actually got my learner's when I was 14, but I forgot to renew it, even though I had 3 extra years to do it! That was just dumb of me, so I studied for weeks, relearning all the driving basics I forgot. I showed up here around 3pm, and was it ever busy. The place was totally packed; I was lucky I even got a seat. I had to take a number and wait patiently. I must have waited 20-25 mins, but my number was finally called. The lady at the counter was really nice and courteous. After I passed my test, (yay!) another lady did my eye exam. She was nice too, especially since I screwed up on one part. It wasn't because I couldn't see it properly, but because I was having a brain fart and didn't quite understand what she was asking me. Luckily, she didn't fail me for that. Even though it was busy, the staff was well organized and very knowledgeable and efficient. Hopefully, I'll be back here to get my Class 5 license and not my learner's again. read more

This review is for the drivers test. DO NOT GO HERE. EVER. Find another registry. I had my exam booked for yesterday, and unfortunately I don't know my examiners name. He let me know he "wont ask me to do anything illegal or trick me", yet we did something illegal before even leaving the parking lot. Its hard to explain but I'll try: When you leave your parking space, you are supposed to reverse and slowly move the car until your able to turn the car (so you can start to drive), and leave. He freaked out, and yelled at me "STOP!!!!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" and made me drive across 2 parking spots to get out. Meaning if there were cars there, I would have hit them. I tried to ask him how the heck what he asked me to do was correct and he started giving me this lecture "IM the instructor. I know what Im doing. You don't question what I tell you to do. I told you I wont make you do anything illegal". Um okay. The rest of the test was similar to the above, him freaking out at me for everything. He failed me unjustly. I was in a 50km zone, the sign was RIGHT THERE. He freaked out saying im too fast, even though I was driving between 40km to 45km just to be safe. There are so many other things that were complete BS on this test. Also, he really thinks he's above everyone else. Any time I tried to say something he'd reply with "IM THE INSTRUCTOR. I KNOW WHAT I'M TELLING YOU TO DO. I AM IN CHARGE OF THIS TEST", and other crap. I am going to be figuring out how to complain about him to the registry on Monday. This was unbelievable and unacceptable behaviour. I was polite to him the entire time, yet I was getting yelled at and preached for everything. Also, I went to a very good driving school, so I do know how to drive correctly and park etc. It's very obvious that he was stressing me out on purpose, and caused me to fail just for the $$ since I have to re-do the exam now. I know this sounds hard to believe. No, I'm not making up things up. I wish I would have failed because of my own driving, so I could have learned from it and it would have made me a better driver. I went in to the registry with the mindset "Its okay if I fail, there's always next time!" Instead, I was being yelled at and told to do illegal things. Ripped us off as well, we didn't have ins on hand as we forgot to put updated version in vehicle, we live 2 minutes away yet they refused to work with us to get the document. this is the worst registry to visit.they treat customers like shit. toaday feb 6th i was there with my student for a road test.my student had advance road test. they kicked me out of registry in minus25 temperature for 1 hour. this is very unhuman and unsatisfactory service by this registry. other registries accomodate for waiting customers. the clerk told me to go to esso gas station to warm up.but i had bussiness with the registery.i would not advice anyone to book test there to freeze in this cold. there were more than 30 people inside in line.no door keeper. why go there and give them bussiness when they have no respect for people giving them bussiness. dont go there. sunny lal 7802317345 zero star read more

I went to Northtown Registry for my road test and I was super nervous. My examiner was Tyler and he made sure if I had any questions before the test he'd answer them, he explained the whole test before we even left the parking lot so there was no surprises. Two minutes into the road test I wasn't nervous at all! He made it seem like you're just driving with a friend! He was so calm which made me less nervous and he was also super informative after the exam letting me know my mistakes. It didn't even feel like a road test. read more

WORST ROAD TEST EXPERIENCE EVER. I don't usually make reviews but i really had to for this one. The examiner here is the WORST. I dont know if he's indian or arabic or idk. I read one review here that had the same exact experience as me. HE YELLED AT ME SO LOUD not once but a couple of times. He yelled at me cause' he said I was driving fast which is evidently NOT!! Like i was even below 50!!!! Like im not even kidding. Ive had like 4 friends telling me that they all experienced the same thing as me. Being yelled at by that examiner won't help you pass your road test. Like i dont even think it would help you become a better driver. This place is always busy, and for the amount of traffic they have going through here, they manage to keep up with it fairly well. it's a typical registry office: dim. dreary and kind of depressing. This isn't their original location, so i'm kind of surprised that they didn't do more to brighten up the place when they took over the old Blockbuster Video. The last time I got my car registration renewed, they also didn't give me the option to renew for two years, which I would like to have done. read more

My daughter had her drivers test booked, instructor was late to start with 30 mins. Then they didn't end up performing the test at all due to paperwork that wasn't in the car but I had on email. They wouldn't wait for me to pull it up. Complaint made to management 3 days later still haven't heard from anyone. Would never go back to this business again. Terrible customer service read more

Terrible staff, terrible driver examiner, does not introduce himself. Doesn't even converse with you. But had no problem stopping and talking to people in Arabic. Was very rude if you ask me. Sets you up to fail. Failed for failure to stop at a stop sign. Even though I came to a complete stop. Did not even tell me if I passed or failed. Or what I did wrong to fail and when. Had to review my copy of the test to find out why I failed. Didn't even discuss what was needed to practice for next test. If anything. My next road test will not be through this registry. Nor would I recommend anyone to use this location. read more

Some staff are nice but some are just plain rude. Their prices are also the most expensive. Do not go here. I never have a good experience in here. Two star merely for convenience and the fact that in a pinch it's a good last resort if you have money to throw; other wise take your business else where. read more

Judging by the other reviews, this is not the place to go for a road test. However, I've gone here for registration renewal, lost license, address change and ordering and birth certificate and I've always had good service. I have noticed that the price is slightly higher than other registries, but I've never waited more than ten minutes even on a busy day. It's nice that you can take a number and sit instead of standing in line, and they are pretty quick to call you. read more

We usually prefer to go this registry even though it's out of our way, especially since they relocated to a bigger space but this last time leaves a very sour taste. I took my class 5 test about a month ago, ( I didnt really need my licence before but circumstances dictated that I get it now ), my test was for 2:30 on a saturday, I was told to be there 20 minutes early, and I was. I was assured I would be done before 3 when they closed so that should I pass (and I did) I would be able to get my new licence. My instructor was late but even so we were back at 2:55 but the doors were already locked with no one inside. My instructor gave me my papers and simply said I could come back when the office was open. I asked clearly if what I was being giving was a temp. permit, if I could drive with it and he said yes, it was even good for a year. Since I had to get my permit renewed in 2 month I thought I might as well wait a bit and do it all at once. I went back yesterday to find out that due to the shaw court fire the majority of the system were not working but I went in anyway. There were 4 girls in there, who all looked like they couldnt care less about being there. I went to the first one who bothered to look up and ask what I needed. I explained my situation to which she quickly and very rudely said that what I had was not a permit, that I had been driving illegally for over 1 month. I told her what the instructor had said, her only response was that he was wrong. I asked what I should do now, surely I wouldnt/shouldnt drive home, she simply said she didnt know. I tried really hard not to loose my temper, this wasnt her fault afterall but it was her job to help me and it was clear she really didnt care to. I asked if she could give a paper temp but of course the system is down so I was SOL. I can understand that part of the onous is on me but the clear lack of professionalism is what upsets me. If those ladies hadnt been a such a rush to close shop I wouldnt be in this mess in the first place. Not being able to help me is one thing but the sheer rudeness of the employees was uncalled for. This place is great place, they have a lot of ladies working, which makes it fast, comparing with other small places. They always give a complete information so to speak, on what to bring for your services. They can be very picky, because they follow their policy, so they don't let anything to slide by, which is a good thing. Thats what i like the most, they offer to help when they can. read more

Not very happy with them right now. I scheduled a road test a couple weeks ago. I told the girl what days I couldn't do it due to work and no one to come with me. It was decided it would be done on Thursday. No problem I can remember that easily since it was the same day as my daughters appointment. I could do that. She did the paper work. I signed. End of story...until Thursday. Sitting waiting to be called and nothing. So I read the paper work and realized she scheduled me for Wednesday. I'm a day late! I talked with the manager but because that girl wasn't work and the documents say the date and not the day I had to pay an extra 31.50 for their screw up on top of the $89 to take the test. Ended up failing anyways due to nerves (kinda expected it) but the instructor was awesome he was very fair. I rebooked and got a different instructor. I felt quite confident this time. Probably would get docked some, but I felt confident I would still pass(cause who gets a perfect score). Nope apparently I did worse then last time. Apparently I can't do uncontrolled intersections and we did them 4 times so I automatically failed....yeah I took a drive in the area with someone and we tried hard to find an uncontrolled intersection in the area I was in. Didn't see 1 and the person I was with didn't see a single problem with my driving and he's been teaching my siblings and nephews to drive. They've all passed. Every road I saw that could have been a potential had yield signs and I was in the right. So I'll go somewhere else. Enough of the bullshit and I'd really love to know how road testers get paid. Seems to me they have a quotas on how many people to fail or they get a % for everyone who comes into that place to take a road test with them. Maybe even so much if that person fails. Just seems so many more people are failing than ever before. No one ever passes on the first or second try anymore. read more
