This school has an amazing staff! The teachers, school counselors, the principal, even the school aids are all extremely friendly and helpful! This school focuses on OUR children! Which is extremely hard to find! Today my son graduated as a HAWK and it was an honor to be able to be a part of such a wonderful experience. Absolutely love this school! Can't wait for my girls to attend this middle school next year.

I will say I have had my complaints about and with the school, but now with "head of school" gone I feel comfortable sending my child back next year. The previous "head of school" (Mr. Emmanuel Lacoste) seemed like a dictator and I was unsure about sending my daughter there next year. However, he recently abruptly resigned and I have noticed the administration moving towards positive change. The majority of the staff are very nice and always saying hello. I have had my complaints with the school regarding communication which have been addressed appropriately. The school now has provided better communication and they seem more willing to hear concerns. Previously I emailed the head of school and never received a response. I called many times and spoke to the head of school one time and asked to meet with him. He assured me I could walk into his office anytime. The next day I went to try to meet with him, and he was unable to meet with me. I believe the school is headed in a positive direction and I plan to send both of my daughters there in the future. To those reading these reviews... there are evident fake reviews by people who find it necessary to make fake accounts and try to hide behind a negative review. I'd urge you to ask a parent about their experience rather than just read a review from someone who may be a previous parent or ex employee.

First time enrolling both of my kids for summer school. This week is their third week. Everything…read moredone through google form. I attempted to contact them multiple times through phone calls/ emails, with no answers/ replied. If I showed up in person, sometimes someone buzzed me in to the office, sometimes no one in the office and I had to try another time. Good thing my kids already older and they can communicate things with me. But I will not consider this school for regular attendance based on gap of communication among staff, educators and parents. It feels that parents concerns are not appreciated. The issue that I had was class changes, updating pick up person form. Had to do it multiple times and still not updated. So if you enroll your kids in summer school, pick your classes wisely. My daughter accidentally picked 3 science classes back to back and the school did not make any attempt to help us to change it until the next two days. One of this science class, my daughter was the only student there. For third week of summer school, my daughter chose spanish class as her last class of the day, and she was enrolled to something else.

There is one teacher who really appears to bond just a little better than the other. Not sure what his name is but as the kids where walking up to get their promotional certificates for graduation yesterday 6/4/25 he did special gestures with each and everyone of his students which was a treat to watch. Thank you to that awesome teacher! My biggest complaint was that the promotion was exceptionally long! I attended a college graduation and a HS graduation both within these last 3 weeks and this 8 grade promotion by far was the longest! Maybe if the principal hadn't gone on and on and talked so much it would have made it much shorter and more enjoyable. The video at the end was absolutely great and as each one signed off made it even more special. This is the second promotion I have attended for this school. Maybe next year make it more about the kids and not the principal and shorten it. Congratulations to class of 2025! Go little sharks and become big sharks!

One of the biggest issues is how disorganized everything is. Important information is either given last minute or not clearly explained at all, which makes it harder to stay on top of assignments and expectations. It feels like students are blamed for things that aren't fully communicated in the first place. The teaching quality is also really inconsistent. Some teachers care and try, but others seem uninterested or don't explain things well, leaving students confused and stuck teaching themselves. When you ask for help, it can feel like you're just brushed off instead of actually supported. The rules can also feel unfair or overly strict, especially when they're enforced differently depending on the student. It creates a sense that things aren't equal, which makes it harder to feel respected or motivated. Overall, this school doesn't feel like a place that prioritizes student success or well-being. Instead of helping students grow, it often just adds stress and frustration to an already difficult experience.

She got suspended for defending herself. There is a video of her getting first and no one broke up the fight. Even when she tried to end the fight the other girl CONTINUED to hit her. After all this they continued to bully her online about the fight. No one is taking this seriously. This is why many kids commit suicide because there's only so much a little girl can take. Now, she's scared to attend school and she no longer feels safe.

We attended here in 1992, and I also graduated in 1993. We had a wonderful Principal too. I cant believe I forgot his name too. But the teachers and staff here at the time were amazing. Campus was nice and clean. Not any nearby places to leave campus and go out to lunch. That was the only downside. The school is prodominantly in a residential area. But we still had fun, and the campus sold good food too, if you wanted lunch of their food on campus. Its just a good school, and I had lots of fun when I attended here.

I love to go watch the high school plays and musicals on this campus. They have a great theater…read moreprogram and so many participants that they can have whole separate casts for the same show, alternating performances! Their theater space is amazing, one of the nicest I've seen on a high school campus. Tonight we came to see " Little Shop of Horrors". All the students acted, sang, and danced their hearts out. I love that speaks Spanish and makes an effort to speak to the parents that only speak Spanish. I'm pretty sure she remembers every child's name, which I think is awesome! Rowland Avenue Elementary has won many awards that you can see displayed in the front of the school. The school is clean and is always being updated and renovated. I would highly recommend.
