I have always wanted to try a straight razor shave. I found Northville Barbers online, and I'm glad I did. My barber was Sharon Williams. Not only did she do a great job she was very friendly and after finding out that this is my first time in the Detroit area, she was kind enough to suggest some spots to check out. The owner found out that I was a veteran and gave me a very nice discount. It was greatly appreciated. Since it's my wife's birthday, I thought I should take my scruffy face and get it cleaned up. One of the barbers, Angie, does great job. She is friendly, pleasant, and respectful. The other regular barber, whose name I do not know, is an older woman with long, salt and pepper hair and is an absolute crab, unpleasant, unfriendly, and disrespectful. The last time I was there there were three other men ahead of me but they were all waiting for Angie. Now, I know why. I will never allow that unpleasant barber to cut my again because every time she has cut my hair in the past she has been so unpleasant and rude. And, it is not because I have never given her a tip equal to what I give Angie or any other barber that happens to be there. I rushed to the barber after finishing up a long work week. I got there 15 minutes before closing and I was turned away. These types of encounters are very telling. They reveal a total disregard for the client and, evidently, also a disinterest in earning new business. These types of business owners have an entitlement complex. To them, customers are apparently nothing more than "pay pigs." If you are looking to build a relationship with your barber, this is not the place to do it. read more

So, this place back in maybe say 2014 was my go to barber. When everyone left and started their own shops, I stopped going here on the regular. I made a visit back in 2018 and an older guy with white hair is the barber now. This guys did a hack job on my hair and cut my eye brows off almost all the way and I never even asked him to do it. So i told myself I'll never go back. Well, with this covid era, I was looking real shaggy and needed a clean up. So, I went there and the same old guy was there cutting hair. I literally asked the guy to please just keep it simple and clean up my side and please blend my clean up on the side and do not touch the top of my hair because I'm trying to keep it a little long so I can rock the comb over. As I get home and check it out in the mirror, I notice big blotchy hack jobs where I asked him to clean up and blend. Also, as I was super ticked because I look like a well, I can't say bad words m but yeah looked terrible I also notice the guy didn't clean the sides up at all or blend. There are literally chunks of hack job hairs on the sides on my head as well as lines showing that the guy in incapable of fading / blending hair with buzzers. I promise you, this will be the last time ever. Even if another crazy thing like covid has me looking shaggy, I'll go else where or just stick to my normal barber. To top it off the guy was a bit rude. I'm a very good people person and man this guy just seemed tired, old and miserable. Wanted to give y'all the benefit of the doubt but I can't. Worst barber over ever been to since all the originals left. Whoever gets your hair cut here, be aware of the older guy. He is terrible and just a miserable old man. Sorry for being so upfront but you messed my hair up sir and I am not happy at all on top of how rude you were. NEVER AGAIN. You, your incompetence in cutting hair even just a simple clean up and rudeness has lost yourself a good paying and polite customer. Thanks but no thanks. Finding a new barber is like finding a new mechanic. A bad one can mess you up, and if you find a good one, you keep going back. I just moved back into town after six years of being away, and finding a new barber was actually one of the things I dreaded most. After reading a few reviews on Yelp and Google, I decided to come here, and I couldn't have been happier. John cut my hair, I believe he said he had only been at this location for a few months. He spent a solid 25 minutes on just blending the fade into the scissor trim. Afterwards, they lather around the hairline and edge with a straight razor. I can honestly say that this was probably the best haircut I've ever had. Nothing out of place, exactly how I asked, and good conversation. To make things even better, they have ESPN on the flat screen, free water, coffee, pop, juice and beer! I got lucky on my first cut back in town, and will not be going anywhere else! read more

With out a doubt best barbers around. I've visited every barber in Plymouth, Canton, Northville and Westland. These guys can't "salonists" they are barbers. I got my hair cut from Jeff and Ivan. Both professional and good cuts. Jeff was better but both were good. I'd go back again and request Jeff. They have free pop and coffee. Other places may be newer but this place had the cool effect to it. read more

Best haircut I've had! Old-school, 20-plus minute cut with warm lather straight-edge razor cleanup to finish. And a great cut as well. Service, detail and personal touch. Worth all $16. Do this and u will never do the Supercuts / Great Clips thing again, where you feel like you are being rushed through an assembly line by someone fresh out of beauty school who still doesn't know how to hold scissors. read more

Great barbers!!! I've been to many barbers around the country and these guys take top spot! It was very late and close to their closing time but I called them and they told me to come on down and they would wait. Don't hear that from anyone anymore. The cut was great and even got a beard trim to go with it. Both for a reasonable price considering these guys are real barbers and not beauticians at a national chain or traditional salon. Plus, I had a great conversation with them as if I was a regular there. Only wish I came to Detroit more often. If I'm ever within an hours drive of here I'll make the trip here for a hair cut. Stop looking. This is the barber shop to visit! I took my son here so he could have the old time barber shop experience and Northville Barbers do not disappoint. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff. They are one of the last around the area to do the hot lather shave. Unfortunately, my son couldn't have the shave due to acne blemishes, but Isaac was gracious enough to explain to me and my son why. He could have easily just done it and hacked my son a little but the fact that he did what was right is why my son and I will keep coming back as long as they are in business. I've been going to this shop for a couple of years, now. I always see the same barber a couple times a month- Issac. He is a great barber that I can rely on to give me the haircut I want, every time. He's friendly and attentive. He doesn't discriminate, either. I am the rare female customer that goes in to get my head shaved. I followed Issac from another shop. First impression was the two barbers arguing on who's going to take me, most likely pertaining to the tip. After another customer walked in, my barber because frantic and noticeably sped up, just trying to get me out and another person in. After I left, I noticed parts that weren't cut even, hence me having to turn around and go back. Won't return again. Jack's barber a few streets away is the place to go without a doubt. read more
