I previously hired the same company to do some work for me during COVID-19, and they did an excellent job cleaning up the yard and cutting down and stacking the wood. When I rehired them in June 2024, they charged me nearly $3,000 to trim the trees in my front yard and on the side of the fence with my neighbor's permission. The sap and pine cones from the trees have been causing damage to many cars. I told the owner, Mark, the specific areas that needed to be addressed, and he assured me that he could use a truck with a lift or a bucket to get the job done. Upon returning from my vacation, I discovered that no work had been completed on the side area, and the mess left in my backyard was not addressed either. Despite contacting Mark with pictures and calls to express my dissatisfaction, no refunds were offered for the first job, and the wood from the second job remains uncleared. Given this experience, I would not recommend this company, especially since the owner did not acknowledge the issues. After two weeks, he sent some guys out to move the wood in one area, and they must have used chainsaws and more workforce to move it. That job was another few thousands. I know inflation has gone up, but I didn't think Mark would let his quality of work go south. read more

We needed several large trees pruned, two removed and two stumps ground. This company went above and beyond. They provided a quoted price right at the first meeting which was lower than other quotes I got, they arrived with a large crew of friendly people to do the work, they asked my thoughts and opinions before beginning and as well as when they were removing branch by branch of a tree that was important to me. After they took down a big Douglas fir my daughter was sad about that so one person cut the top off and gave it to us to use as a Christmas tree, which cheered her up. They were very careful with the stump grinder to not touch my fence. I was very pleased and would definitely use them again. read more

If you hire these people, be sure to ask them to clean up the mess they make in your neighbor's yard. Branches all over the place & a broken shrub limb from them falling on it. I had an 80 ft. Douglas Fir "skirted" -- I've hated all those low hanging branches for years and finally decided to do something about them. They had a guy climb the tree, cut and rope the branches. So much more light now in the yard! Love it! My grass might actually have a chance this summer. At the same time, they trimmed, by half, a vine maple that had gotten crazy tall over the years and was dropping tons of leaves on the roof in the fall as well as shading it for lots of moss growth. Now it's been cut below the roofline. Hooray! Roof and driveway were blown clean. All the branches went into their chipper and hauled away. They were fast -- the rain didn't even slow them down. Last summer we spoke with Mark and asked him to come out to our property in Arlington to remove some large trees that were crowding the cedars and appeared to be a danger to our house. We did not shop around because we were impressed with Marks knowledge and trust in his crews to do the work we needed. He came to complete the bid on the promised date. Looked at the trees we were worried about and agreed. He also pointed out one more tree that we should concern us. So we asked him to mark that tree as well. Within a day or two we received a quote that was very reasonable and scheduled time for the crew to come out. We had to reschedule once before they were able to come to the house. Anyone who does not understand the nature of construction or removal needs to realize that there are almost always unforeseen circumstances and some can not be solved in a split second. Rescheduling due to another job going long must be understandable to consumers of this type of service. When the day came for the crew to show up they were quick and professional. The last tree to come down turned out to be a much more difficult task than the others and took longer than expected. The crew had quite a bit of extra work to ensure the safety of all involved. They tied off to other trees and rigged up safety's all over the place. They even found the neighbors barbed wire fence, that we did not know was in the underbrush, and made certain to fall the trees and limbs on our side of it. I was very impressed. The crew was here until about dusk, and all was finished when they departed. We only paid for the falling of the trees and not the removal since we have our own equipment and planned to use the logs. Although, I can now see the neighbor, the huge split maple is no longer threatening to fall on our home and patio and the trash trees crowding the cedars are gone too! Mark and Northwest Arbor Care are a disreputable and unscrupulous group. Northwest Arbor Care cut trees on my property without my consent while I wasn't home. The crew removed a single branch from a plum tree which, coincidentally, a neighbor had complained about the previous day. Northwest Arbor Care also butchered a maple by chopping all the branches at the same height regardless of the tree's heath or aesthetic. When I contacted Mark (luckily a friend had walked by and asked one of the crew for a card) he curtly denied doing the work. After I filed a police report however he changed his story saying it was an address mistake and didn't realize the error until talking to the officer. Mark offered to provide complementary tree services as compensation for the "mistake". When I contacted him to provide those services though he didn't respond to my calls or texts. I finally sent a text from another line and he said he was no longer willing to do the work because I waited too long to schedule so in his opinion it was settled. I do not recommend Northwest Arbor Care because of their blatantly shady business practices. read more

The crew arrived 3 hours late, this despite my calling that morning to confirm the time of the appointment for work to be done. When the crew did arrive I reviewed the specifics of what trees and shrubs I wanted trimmed. I became alarmed when I saw one of the workers climb one of the maple trees without a ladder or safety gear. I called Mark the owner and told him that I was not happy that the crew arrived 3 hours late. He said that the previous job that day was more involved and was in the south sound. I said no one called to tell me that the crew would be late. He said "sorry about that". I also told him about the worker up in the tree without safety gear or a ladder he said the guy knew what he was doing. Overall the work done was OK, but I will not be hiring NW Arbor Care again. read more

So, I'm a neighbor to someone who had Northwest Arbor Care come to their house. I noticed that the employees cars were parked on our road which has many many NO PARKING signs posted. I pulled out of my driveway and pulled up to the employees working on the tree. One of them, Rick, came out to see what I had to say. I told him that there were plenty of NO PARKING signs on the road, and I asked why all the cars were parked there. I was about to point out that there was adequate parking no more than 20 feet from where they were working, but he didn't let me finish. "Whatever lady. No, she's no one's mother, she about a million years old!" (He said the second sentence to another employee.) He basically told me to F off. I told him I was going to call his company to complain, and he invited me to do just that. He told me to mention his name, Rick, and that his boss would not care about my complaints. I pulled off the road (into the parking area I was going to suggest they use) and called the company. I was only able to leave a message, but I told them what transpired. I will be making sure the people I know will not be hiring this company. If the employee is anything like the company, NO THANK YOU! Dishonest and shady. Northwest Arbor Care came to my property when I was out of town and cut my trees without my knowledge or permission. They removed a major branch from my mature prune tree and butchered the maple framing our front windows. When I first called Northwest Arbor Care to confront them of their errror (a concerned neighborhood friend asked for a card so I luckily had their contact info), I was told they'd never heard of the address. I found this questionable as a neighbor had just days earlier asked about cutting the very same branch from my prune tree. Only after filing a police report did the owner, Mark, call to address the issue and take responsibility. He said they accidentally mixed up the address and to compensate he'd provide tree services free of charge. I made an appointment with Mark to show him what work I wanted done. I missed our appointment due to a long running overseas conference call. I didn't have my phone and Mark wouldn't reschedule with me after that. He says I missed my chance and his obligation is over. On the day he was scheduled to be there, I got this e mail from Mark: I need to apologize to you ,when i transferred the numbers for the estimate i left out the number 1.the maple removal was $1,400 not $400.00 .We have not done the work ,so if you want to do this call me 425-218-7721 again sorry for the mistake. I called Mark and left a message saying I had received his e mail saying he wanted to add $1000 to the work he agreed to do and that he needed to call me. Last year I chose Northwest Arbor Care from several tree specialists I contacted. I like they are a family owned business. The company pruned our beloved chestnut tree that spans our yard and two neighboring yards. They came when they said they would, they did exactly what they said they would do, and they cleaned my yard and the two neighboring yards as they said they would. They did such an excellent job that I contacted them again today for another consultation on a more complicated tree that has branches overhanging power lines and a very meticulous, mature front yard on a tree lined street. Guy that showed up for the estimate whom I explained what I wanted done apparently didn't communicate it well to the crew that showed up. They did the basics of what I asked, but not the #1 thing I needed. Also, at no time during the "estimate" was it communicated that payment was only accepted in the form of cash or check. Put me in a bind when it came time to pay the crew after the work was complete. While the estimate was given to me in writing on a form with the company name, I was requested by the crew member accepting the check to make it out to an individual instead of the company name. I guess it's a perk that if I had chosen to pay cash, I wouldn't be charged tax, as I was given 2 different amounts with that option. Oops, did i put that on the internet? read more

Mark came out promptly, at the agreed date/time to scope out the job and handed off a competitive quotation right then. Annegreth was friendly, clear and prompt with her communication, setting up the date/appointment. Nick and his crew were thorough professionals. They were at it from 9:30 AM till around 3:30 PM on the first day. They cleared all the trees - 6 of them (2 cedars, 2 hemlocks, 1 mountain hemlock & 1 cherry) in all and skirted one cedar. 4 of them were old (20-40 years), tall, perilously close to our property's roof & side-deck - but watching their crew, a team of ~5-6 men, in action, I knew I was in safe hands. (The front lawn was a little damaged, with unloading/moving the machinery etc, which could've been avoided.)They did a fantastic job of hauling all the wood and cleaning up thoroughly after the job. I didn't spot a few chips on my roof, the only cleaning-detail that was missed (well, a couple of plastic bottles & a pizza slice strewn on the backyard, too), until after they left. Also, their stump-grinders hadn't turned up, for some reason; but I was told that they'd come the next day. They did turn up on the second day and finished grinding the stumps. However, unfortunately, all the clean-up work done on the first day was practically undone at the end of this exercise, leaving my house looking a little like a warzone. I wish they had raked it around the back yard minimally and blew stuff off my front-yard+driveway, right then. I contacted Annegreth, again, who assured me that they'd all be taken care of. Nick and a couple of men from his team turned up the 3rd day and did a quick job (15~20 mins) of cleaning the front yard, the back yard & the roof. I am very pleased that this team stayed true to their word through out the job and were comfortable to work with. Their pricing for the quality of their job is good value. Two young men came and did a great job taking down 20 trees in my backyard. They worked fast and seemed to be quite experienced as they sliced down the trees without damaging the fence, treehouse, or our roof and deck. Price wasn't bad either. We paid $50 per tree cut down to a low stump. i believe stump grinding is extra but we didn't go with that option because I wanted to save money. read more

The recent power outage caused a postponement of my original appointment, and was told that PSE would re-schedule the required line drop, and he would let me know when that occurred. PSE appeared without notice, and dropped my line. I called NW Arbor care, and was told the tree crew was on it's way. On one hand, I was delighted that the large, dying tree would be gone in the next windstorm. On the other hand, I was less than thrilled that I had no notice of a day without power. Anyway, the crew arrived, and removed the big old tree with incredible expertise and flawless teamwork. My yard and driveway were actually cleaner after they left, than before they arrived!! No, I would not use this company. The crew I was exposed to were disrespectful and irresponsible. They took a wrong turn and ended up on a private property easement lane. I would not let them turn around in my already cracked and delicate concrete driveway. So one of the guys proceeded to berate me, using the f word several times among other profanities. Then they turned around in a neighbor's driveway and flattened a sprinkler head. They stopped to look at it and then drove away, never leaving any information to follow up with repair.
