Northwest Park near Burnet Road is nicely placed into a residential area. The park covers a very large green space. While a great deal of the park is open to the public, some parts of the parks grounds are under construction specifically the pool area (according to a construction worker on site, construction has been ongoing for a 1.5 years). The grounds appear to be well manicured. Large, shaded oak trees are the focal point of the park. The park's amenities are a standout. Northwest park features playgrounds, pickle ball, tennis courts, picnic tables, and a scenic pond. The park appears children friendly except for the portion under construction. There's also a walking path around the park and Shoal Creek running along the edge. Overall, Northwest Park is a versatile, green space where recreation, nature, and community converge. read more

I thought I would update my review from three years prior because of the new changes taking place. The entire area surrounding the pool has been completely fenced off due to construction. The entire parking lot to the pool has also been closed down. You can still park on the side of the pool or all the way behind it. Considering how big this project is, I think it's safe to assume that it's going to be closed for the entire summer of 2025. The rest of the park is still available for use, although all the property next to the pool is fenced off. So you may wish to skip this as your pool choice this year and try again next year. read more

Sometimes I feel like COVID changes everything and we have even less community than before. But this park reminds me that people are still very much well connected. After stopping by the Starbucks on Anderson, I sit in my car and people watch. (Is that creepy? Well, it's very New Yorker of me to wait and people watch while my husband walked the dogs). When I sit waiting for an hour or two, so much happens. There are organized tennis court matches and every court is busy! There are groups who meet up for some serious martial arts training! And then there are the usual joggers and dog walkers. I love being here, overlooking the swampy pond that makes me feel like I'm in a magical place or on a Disney set. This place is a hidden gem. Smack dab in the middle of an older neighborhood. The park is fairly big with multiple things to do. Swimming pool, swings, jungle gym, basketball court, 4 tennis courts and a baseball field. The basketball court is really nice, but the rim/net/backboard could use an update. ‍ read more

A lovely family park with tennis courts, picnic tables, a large walking track, basketball courts and a swimming pool. The pool charges admission and is open to the public. There's a large adult pool and a baby pool for the little ones; tables and a covered bleacher-seating area for those who wanna sit and relax. read more

Pretty park. I mean it's not really big or anything but there's a nice little trail to walk around and the birds around there will be sure to keep your attention. There's also a gorgeous pool that doesn't cost much to get inside that you can swim in. It's packed t that pool, expect a lot of company if you decide to swim in that gigantic pool in the heart of the park. There's also a baseball thing there too. read more

Last weekend I went to my friend's child's birthday party at the small beautiful park. It's tucked away in a residential neighborhood so hidden that I never knew it was there. They have a pool that was drained for the season, large playscapes, picnic tables and ample flat grassy areas that I saw a family using a volleyball net that they set up. They also had a grill out so, I am not sure if that is allowed but, they seemed to be having a great time. They had ample parking and the fact that they had the picnic tables by the playscapes made it a great location for a kids birthday party. read more

Such an awesome park tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. I came here for a Caribbean festival and had expectations for a little neighborhood park so I was shocked at the sheer size of this space. We had a good sized group, and I saw a few other groups having events along with some individuals and families and at no point did it feel crowded at all. I saw the pool (but did not go in, so unsure of the charge for entrance), there is also a nice playground for kids and I saw the tennis courts from a distance. The grounds were very well maintained, and what I had access to was in great shape. Overall, I only wish I had more time to spend here because it's a great little park and wonderful place to have some fun outdoors! read more

Pretty good park in North Austin. Good sized playscapes, a nice pool (kind of expensive, better to get a membership if you go a lot) and a pond. Plus a lot of picnic tables. There were some rough looking dudes hanging out last Saturday morning, but they left once families with kids started showing up, so that was cool. There are some nice rocky, tree-covered areas around, but my kids are too young for that right now, maybe later. read more

Best neighborhood park in Austin in my humble opinion. Lots of shade,little pond teeming with life, NW pool, and great playscapes.

3.5 stars, really. This is a pretty large park nestled in the neighborhood, so you probably need to map it out. Good playground areas for younger and older kiddos and mature trees/some shade. Several picnic benches, perfect for birthday parties. Ran into families taking photos here, so it's probably good for that too. Also they have several tennis courts, if you are looking for a free place to play (they are not fancy though). Plenty of parking spaces in dedicated lots. If you live around here, definitely check it out. read more

This is park is the favorite part of my day! We go ever morning around 9 or 10 and stay till lunch time... There is a perfect play place for my 16 m. old shaded by a huge tree ( in fact a few day ago it started to sprinkle for a few minutes and we didn't feel a thing!) There are always a good sweet group of kids and moms there. Drinking fountains big clean bathrooms, plenty of places to sit and watch the kids play! A few feet away it's a play place for the older children too! It really is a treasure! Be and bring a snack you will want to stay. read more

Northwest is a great neighborhood park. The tennis and basketball courts are lit so you can play into the night. There is a cute fishing pond. There is a small trail around the park great for walking the dog and it leads to a local baseball field. There are many picnic tables, some that are really long and is great for having parties and get-togethers. They have a huge pool with lap lanes and a diving board plus a smaller kiddie pool. Plenty of parking. And its right next to Shoal Creek. I'm sure the playground is nice because on a nice day there are always plenty of kiddos running around playing. Good times at NW park! read more

This neighborhood park we have been enjoying for years. I just wish the City of Austin would clean up the algae that covers the pond. This area is loved for its serenity and people love to just sit on the benches and also watch the wildlife (ducks) that grace the pond. Dog owners need to reign in their pets and not let them jump in and try to catch the wildlife. Post signs in the park to leave wildlife alone. The wildlife also needs protection, as we want them to keep returning to this park. read more

I love this wide open green not far from the bustle of Burnet. Space to throw a football, a municipal pool (this means it costs $3 to get in), a basketball court, and a 4 tennis courts. Oh and a curfew of 10pm - I left a hat here once and came back at midnight, I couldn't see anything, it was pitch black. The tennis courts are not managed (no fee, no reservations) but are in pretty bad shape - they do have lights but there are LOTS of cracks in the surface and I feel like some have a slight incline (really not good for tennis.) Still it feels like home to me. read more

Hidden gem in a old neighborhood. The park is shaded by trees and has plenty of sitting areas to sit and watch kids on the playground. Two playscapes- one for the older kids (partly in the sun) and another for the toddlers complete with a rock wall and a couple of slides (shaded). Plenty of picnic tables and I spotted at least one grill. Nice dog walking area surrounded by pond, basketball court, and a pool. The biggest plus to this park is the serenity that is missing at Zilker. I'm sure it's probably crowded on the weekends but late afternoons it's a relaxing get away for the kids and a mom. read more
