What a cute area this is. So many fun things to do at this park from the playground to the walking trails, and green space for relaxing along the water, reading, hanging out with friends and family, picnics, playing games, and more. Very well-maintained, no trash or debris. Lots of ducks and geese and some even seem to want to make friends...most likely because they want humans to feed them. Beautiful park with lots of birds, turtles, and joggers along with some fisherman. It's catch and release here though. It's a great area to walk through with or without a dog. There's even a fire pit that is locked until rented. And there's lots of restaurants and shops across the street, so you could end up spending a few hours here. read more

I love Mueller Lake Park for so many reasons. It's got something for everyone and the only thing I don't love is that everyone comes to enjoy it on the weekends. I know, that's the point, but it can get a little hectic at peak times. That just speaks to what a great park it is. There are paved and unpaved walking trail options all around the duck pond and beyond. There are ducks, geese, squirrels and fish. I hate that people fish in the pond, but it's a thing many people enjoy doing. The kid part of the park is big and has lots of equipment. There are public restrooms right by the kid part and parking lot. Kids also love seeing the ducks and geese. They do a pretty good job keeping the park clean, but everyone can help by not leaving trash or fishing line behind. *Please don't let your kids chase the ducks/geese, mess with the ducklings, or touch/take the eggs. Also, it's actually really bad for ducks/geese to eat bread. Feed them peas, corn, oats, or birdseed instead.* read more

Love visiting this park any time of day. My only complaint is that when it rains the water can flood into the paths and cause it to get REALLY muddy, so just don't wear your nice shoes! At a time when our phones tend to be the center of our universe and loneliness is at an epidemic level, we need more spaces like Mueller Lake Park to connect with our families and the community that surrounds us! My family and I originally intended to go to the Thinkery, but they were sold out so we went to the park across the street. The experience we had was better than anything we could have imagined and we walked away grateful that Plan A never panned out. The park was filled with people of all ages -from cooing new babies to elderly patrons soaking in the sun- and there was something for everyone to enjoy! There are gigantic mature trees with far-reaching branches that provide shade all around, abundant benches, big kids swings, little kids swings, a large circular swing that the whole family can hop onto, multiple slides of varying sizes, climbing walls and ropes, and the best thing I've ever seen on any playground ever --a spinning circle. The kiddos sat on top of the circle while their adults worked together to spin them and my heart was so full to see such wholesome cooperation and connection between complete strangers! I love this place. There's also a lake, lots of green space for picnics and sun bathing and a walking trail which was great for stopping to recharge, eat a snack, and people/duck watch. When it started to get hot, we bought some popsicles from a woman with an ice cream cart, sat on a bench, and made more new friends. By the time we left the park, we were on a first name basis with a couple of the other parkgoers. I walked away feeling grateful to have run across a man walking his senior dog who helped his autistic son experience companionship, the baby girl who was turning one today, the Swiss aupair Director whose life mission is to bring people closer together, and the dad who cheered my son on for conquering his fear of going down the slide. A nice little oasis in an otherwise urban sprawl. This park isn't very large, but it does have a number of nice features that maximize space well. The little lake is quite picturesque, and you can meander along the path all the way around it. There is green grass and trees, and lots of ducks and geese that are very accustomed to humans and even children. There is a nice play structure on one end of the park for kids to play, and a very cool Nessie-like mosaic statue that is a marvel to look at. There are also bathrooms nearby. Parking seems to be street-parking by meter primarily. Lots of shops/eateries around if you want to grab a bite or get a drink. And apartment complexes all around the park; no doubt the inhabitants visit often to get exercise. I would need to loop around the lake three or more times to get enough exercise personally, but like I said, it's not a large park so don't expect real hiking or anything. It's always been fairly crowded when we're there, so don't expect much in the way of peace/quiet/serenity when you go either! You're gonna be around a lot of people/crowds. Basically, this is what city folk would consider "nature." LOL. read more

There's so many parks in Austin, and all great. But Mueller Lake Park just feels like home every time. Its probably because it's in the middle of a neighborhood. It's the people, the dogs, and the cleanliness of the park that gives of those vibes too. I'm not really big on sitting in grass with the bugs, but here I always enjoy a picnic! And if not in the grass, they have plenty of tables. What makes this park so great is that you always have enough space and it's great for relaxing and people watching. Right before sunset is amazing. There's sports teams, friend groups, families, dogs, and even ducks in their lake. And if you're hungry, there's restaurants and coffee shops to grab something at. I believe they have food trucks too but I don't go to that side of the park. And... there's a free parking lot and free street parking if you get there before it's really crowded! read more

Mueller Lake Park is a beautiful place to take your dog out on a walk at a huge circle around the sizable pond. The park provides multiple doggie doodoo bag stations around the area, and the area is usually peaceful and quiet. The Farmer's Market also takes place nearby, so you should really stop by for yummy goods. Pigeons are everywhere during the summer, and they are always begging for food. If you want to feel like a Disney princess by making birds fly around you, then bring seeds to throw. Be sure not to forget a hat in case a pigeon or two gets too excited and decides to release their urine/poop mixture on your head. There are sometimes geese hanging out at the pond. They range from being desperate for food to drifting around the center of the pond to avoid humans. The geese are absolutely adorable when they want food. They often tug at your clothing so you throw food at them. Be sure to throw food like seeds and not bread so that the geese are well-nourished for the upcoming winter. read more

So a new pavillion and park opened up recently in Central Austin and it looks BEAUTIFUL! I thought I was strolling through paradise, because the weather was sublime and the trees were in full bloom. Lake Mueller was stunning with tall pillars with vines and other aesthetic details. Plus, the kids park was just whimsical. Giant sea creatures, fancy jungle jims, and tons of gated playing spaces? I wish I was a kid here haha. The lake looked a tad murky but people were fishing still, and some were kayaking. There's a nicely paved trail for walking or biking around the perimeter. I'd definitely come here every ATX visit to picnic or just sit down and read to enjoy the lovely weather. 10/10 I would highly recommend making a stop here if you're visiting and have some time to kill. read more

Anyone who has ever met my fur babies know they are not the most outdoorsy dogs. We can spend 10 mins on one of Austin's trails, and they'll navigate me right back to our vehicle. However, with Mueller Lake Park, they can tolerate at least 30 mins. Why? SHADE!!! There is so much grass and trees to keep you and your family cool. I moved to Austin almost 2 years ago (like right before COVID emerged) and this was one of the spots that made my Top Ten list to check-out. Mueller Lake Park is a great spot for picnics ... or just walking around. There is a nice variety of nearby businesses including spots to enjoy wine or beer. Also, there is an excellent brunch spot, Kerbey Lane Cafe, about 5 minutes away on foot. The last time I visited Mueller Lake Park, there was live music. Yes!...live music...with steel drums and everything, Mon LOL. A new high-rise residential structure is going to be erected so this lovely spot in Central Austin may become too crowded for my taste. Yet, right now there is plenty of open space here. When I first visited, my timing was exceptional because I arrived about an hour before sunset...and it was an exquisite sunset! I've included pics. If you are dog parent (like many Austenites LMAO) this is a dog-friendly park. Also, if you have kids Thinkery is quite close and I can tell from the reviews parents and kids love it. Come to think of it, I would love it if they offered free yoga at this park or that a yoga instructor would offer classes here! This was my first time coming to the Sunday Farmer's Market here at the Mueller Lake Park and wow, what a delight it was! I was a little overwhelmed by all of the various vendors here, but I assure you...you can surely find whatever you are looking for here. This particular time also market the 2019 Fermentation Festival, which I had hoped to attend. Unfortunately for me, it was set up in a very large and open space which simply does not work for me when it comes to learning. I am far, far too ADHD and hyperactive for that! While I wish it had been more of a secluded learning set-up with a hands-on element, many other people were able to attend the seminars. As for me, I meandered through the plethora of tents and managed to spend far too much money. Yay, me! I did buy holidays gifts for family and friends, but it's such a great gift to be able to support local vendors while also finding gifts for my loved ones...such a treat! And speaking of treats, there were way too many gluten free baked goods here for my satisfaction. I have already consumed the gluten free brownies, the pumpkin cake, and the only saving grace for my cheese rolls is that they are frozen and I am being too lazy to cook them. This is a problem! (But a good one to have. ) Anyway, this is a fantastic farmer's market that is very large and has so many booths filled with wonder out things. If you haven't already, I highly encourage you to check it out. The only thing that was disappointing is to have a small vendor completely ignore someone patiently waiting to buy something and have that person walk off because they don't feel like their patronage matters. I see it happen all the time at farmer's markets and it's so frustrating. Otherwise, everyone is incredibly friendly and the products are awesome! read more

Mueller Park is the definition of what I like about Austin. Nature. Austin is my special getaway from the craziness in Houston. I'm always so calm out in Austin with its beautiful parks and views. This park reminds me a lot of Herman Park. This one is big and had a stage. There's a lot going on in this area! Towards the end of the park is a museum and little center with other things. In the parking lot there were a lot of food trucks. There's so much to do in one park and just enjoy the beautiful scenery. The lake is absolutely stunning. Great park with a sidewalk that wraps around a small lake full of ducks and turtles. The grounds are well kept with lots of trees and plenty of open green grass at the east end of the park. If you come in the right season, quaker parrots nest near the pillars on the north side of the lake. There is also a children's playground with a cool dragon statue nearby. Check out the farmer's market by the old hanger on the south shore of the lake on Sundays or grab a bite at one of the several restaurants just a stone's throw away. I came to the Park since my gym was holding an outdoor class near the hanger. The park was busy and since it is COVID-19 most people were social distancing. During my time here, there was a camp gladiator class (or what I assume was) and a yoga class going on. Most people were running, biking, and or walking around. Near the hanger is a bunch of food trucks and on Sundays is a Farmers Market. I would like to explore more of the park when it is less busy but otherwise no complaints here. read more

This is an awesome place very close to downtown. The whole Mueller area was developed after the old airport was shut and transferred. The Neighbour has been very well planned and developed. One can always see a bunch of ducks just enjoying around the pond. There is Thinkery (a childrens museum), few restaurants, a coffee shop and also an Alamo drafthouse cinema which is coming up soon. A cool lake that the dogs play in, a park that kids can play in, a running trail with mile markers and even food trucks to stop and have lunch at. There's parking all over and if you get tired of the scenery you can hang out at the bars, restaurants, and other activities this area has!
