This was one of eight newly constructed elementary schools in Cherokee County, S.C. all constructed at the same time. They all looked identical. The flagpole out front was where I was swinging around when I heard that President Kennedy had been shot. I still remember each teacher by name and know this building by heart. I'm glad that it's mission is completed and I'm very pleased that it now has a new purpose! This was a nostalgic visit!

These students (all 503 at last count) score higher than the state average in math and reading compared to comparable statewide schools. The teacher to student ratio is great. My daughter attended school here during her elementary school days and we were well pleased with the results. We had many interactions with the teachers and they met or exceeded our expectations. This is a learning center focused on excellence. Grassy Pond elementary is most definitely a credit to Cherokee County, S.C.
