I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews. Dr. Vukas is a life changer! He is actually one of the best doctors I have ever met. Dr. Vukas helped me where another ENT had let me down. ~7 years ago, I saw a different ENT out of Swedish, because I had issues with snoring. That guy took one look at my nose (didn't scope it, didn't take pictures, etc.) , said nothing was wrong, and said I should get a sleep study (clearly didn't want to be bothered, and I'm not a big enough guy yet to start there). Dr. Vukas took the time, scoped my nose, and noted not only did I have a deviated septum I also could only breathe about 15-20% through my right nostril. Before a sleep study, I chose to have a surgery with Dr. Vukas - who has instrumentally made my life better. I can BREATHE again. And it has helped tremendously at night as well. THANK YOU Dr. Vukas and your team! I cannot say enough good things about this Doctor. He is direct, to the point, and an excellent surgeon and Doctor. This is without a doubt the worst practice I've been to. My insurance has a $25 copay which I paid for a 5 minute service. A year and a half later they bill me for an additional copay for what I don't know. Only supposed to charge one copay per visit but they decided they wanted to change the rules. The doctor was a waste anyway. Very shady way to treat a patient. read more

I went to see an Dr Hughes due to hearing loss and unable to comprehend or have clarification of what people are saying. I have had 3 different sets of hearing aids, all they do is make the sound louder, not clearer. So I thought an ENT would do some extension testing, due to a brain aneurysm and stent in my head, thinking that maybe the stent is inferring, touching, or laying against something causing the hearing loss etc. I asked if we can do a CT Scan...but instead he put me in a testing box to listen for beeps, and repeat words. I didn't do very good on either. He did however tell me I had damage behind one of my ear drums. Didn't offer any other testing even after I requested and CT SCAN. I wanted to show him my hearing aids, but he was very rude, and told me he had NO TIME for that. He walked out and came back with a piece of paper and told me to go see them. I was very upset, because I was hoping for some type of extension testing or medical treatment help with my issue. I was disappointed and degusted with his attitude that he had no time. (appointment was at 11 he came in at 11:30). read more

The front office is helpful and extremly nice, the tech was awesome, paper work a breeze and all my info was electronic, including my primary doctor and the pharmacy that fills my prescriptions. Called for an urgent issue for my son (11 years old) who we believe broke his cheekbone. Friends who are doctors told us to call ENT directly so we can avoid ER during COVID crisis. Woman who answered phone was rude and condescending. I asked if we could get in today and if the doctor could order xrays or CT. Won't go into her ridiculous suggestions but then asked if she could actually talk to a doctor and ask their opinion first. When they called back (on a Monday) they said we could get in to doctor on Wednesday!!! In the meantime We called Rush and they scheduled and appt for 30 minutes after we called along with scheduling a CT! What a difference! These doctors should re-evaluate their front end staff. read more

My ENT Doctor from when I was little retired...about seven years ago I was having sinus problems and I was referred to this office. Dr Vukas is my doctor. He performed the surgery on my deviated septum back then...everything ran smooth. He explained everything in great detail and is just a great doctor. I had to come back to this office recently as I've been having some vertigo/inner ear issues - again, everything was great. I live out in the burbs and refuse to find another specialist, I will keep coming to this office. read more

Have you ever been to an ENT for a simple ear issue -- i.e. having some wax or a hair removed from your ear and been charged for a "procedure" in addition to the office visit? I hadn't either until now. So between the 2 costs of my office copay and this charge for something that took about 30 seconds, I paid $106! PATIENTS SHOULD BE ADVISED OF EXTRA COSTS SO THEY CAN MAKE THE DECISION WHETHER OR NOT TO PROCEED....PERIOD. Save yourself some money and go to Minute Clinic. read more

I had bad experiences with this office on and after both my appointments: 1) While still having questions for Dr. Hughes during my 10-19-2017 office visit, he rudely walked out of the room without saying anything! 2) After my appointment with Dr. Garrity on 1-2-18, I developed more problems with my ears regarding discomfort and irritation. I left several messages for him to call me to no avail. The staff was very non receptive and rude at times. 3)The nurse I spoke with whom I found out is not even a registered nurse was very rushed and rude on the phone. She told me to resume using the steroid ear drops however often as needed even though steroids can be dangerous! She even said my ear discomfort and needing to rub my ears for relief could require a skin doctor which is ridiculous! I insisted Dr. Garrity still call me which never happened. 4) Eve, the office manager was totally dishonest and sneaky by telling me she would have Dr. Garrity call me within 24 hrs. which never happened as well as sending me a letter signed with Dr. Garrity's name stating I should seek treatment elsewhere without trying to work out my frustrations by phone. !!! SENIORS BEWARE !!! I am a retired senior on Medicare, and also on a fixed income. I made an appointment to see Dr. Hughes of Northwest Ent Associates in his office on Talcott Avenue in Chicago regarding an ear infection. After he treated me he told me that I should have a hearing test. I did what he said and it was all done at the same location. In less than a week I received a bill from Northwest Ent saying that I owed them $162.00. I immediately became suspicious and figured that the hearing test was not going to be a covered service. I notified Blue Cross Blue Shield to see if it was. Of course, my suspicion was correct. A hearing test is not a covered service. When I look back, I feel like I was scammed by Dr. Hughes. I'm very sure that he had to know that this service was not going to be covered by Medicare and was trying to get another $162.00 that he knew I would have to pay out of pocket. Maybe $162.00 is pocket change for Dr. Hughes, but it sure isn't for me. read more

I will never go back to this office again. I had a simple visit to check my ears and ended up with a $670 bill. There is no explanation about all the procedures they pile on you. I assumed I have insurance and my co-pay should cover the cost! Then you find out that the doctor's bill is separate from the audiologist, .... Without telling me about the cost they decided to do a laryngoscopy, cerumen removal! and comprehensive audiometry. At the end they said nothing is wrong and referred me back to someone else. read more

I got referred to this office from my PCP and I'm glad I did. I have been seen by Dr Hughes and then Dr Vukas took over my case and performed my surgery with Dr Garrity (never met him in person though). Here's why I like them: 1. They get the best person in the practice for the job at hand, ie Dr Vukas performing my surgery 2. Dr Vukas laid out everything in a clear and concise manner. He explained the procedure, went through it step by step and then explained next steps. Finally, he asked for any questions I might have and offered to continue the conversation as needed. 3. Dr Vukas caught what other testing missed and was able to handle (with Dr Garrity) the complexities of my case the day of surgery. It was originally suppose to be 3-6 hours but ended up almost 11 due to more cancer then originally thought. 4 With my follow-up, Dr Vukas continues to be up front, discuss options and explain why he might think one course is better than another. I did quite a bit of research before our appointment and I would recommend the same for anyone to come prepared with questions (thyroid cancer is why I was there). Also, while in the hospital I did get visits from Dr Hughes and Vukas but they talked with one another so it was a seamless transition and it allowed me to feel confident knowing a specialist (and not just the hospital doctor) was checking on me. Plus, they both have great bedside manner and know what they are doing. I don't know of a lot of ENT specialists, so I will say it may take some time to be seen (my PCP got my original appointment moved up after I set it). read more

Dr Hughes is a great doctor. He helped with my sinus issue that nobody else could. I referred a lot of patients to the office. Unfortunately the office staff is the worst i have ever dealt with. Very rude and unprofessional. The office manger doesn't seem to care about the patients at all, wouldn't even listen to your concerns. The office screwed up my account, never had a late payment or missed a payment. They stopped sending me monthly bills.... instead they sent my account to collections. Never heard an apology when brought up the issue to the office manager. I feel so bad that a such a good dr like Hughes has to loose patients because of the absence of professionalism from his office staff. read more

When someone calls saying they've lost both their hearings aids, it seems insensitive for the person answering the phone too first explain how much it's all gonna cost right off the bat. No sh*t b*tch, I was already wearing them I know that they're expensive without insurance how the f*uck you think I feel about it? And also an apt next week isn't gonna cut it. read more
