NW Gymnastics Training Center needs to improve the behavior and competence of its office staff. Canceling a membership was a frustrating experience, taking over six weeks and involving unresponsive phone calls and emails. To make matters worse, my wife was met with aggressive rudeness when she visited the businesss during "open" business hours. The staff's unprofessional behavior and unhelpful attitude are unacceptable, especially when trying to cancel a membership. The fact that the staff member was uncooperative and helpful, making the cancellation process unnecessarily difficult, is disappointing. Additionally, the hours of operation listed on Yelp differ from those listed on Google and the facility's website, showcasing a need for more attention to detail, organization, and pride in one's business. I cannot recommend NW Gymnastics Training Center to anyone looking for a responsive and organized gymnastics training center.At this point, any response from the business other than a simple sorry is just should be noted as attention diversion or a lack of acceptance of ownership of the poorly behaved staff and owner, as described in nearly half of the reviews. Our daughter started coming to Northwest Gymnastics Training a few months ago and it has been a GREAT experience from day one. The instructors are professional and skilled. Where do I start? I enrolled my grandson 3 months ago. Before enrolling him, I was told that my grandson would be in an " all boys program", as advertised on their website. I was also told that he would be evaluated monthly to progress to the next level. My Grandson already knew how to do front hand springs, front and back flips on a trampoline, climb a rope in 15 seconds, a cart wheel, a round off. I explained this to the guy who signed us up. ( he may not of heard me , because his German Shepard was there , in the gym losing his mind barking the entire time) probably should have been my first sign to run out of there. He said " no problem " we have all levels here. In the last 3 months we as parents ( my daughter , myself and two other parents ) have been yelled at by the owner " Tina", once because 15 kids showed up and she had no coaches, so she had to be " coach". And she came into the screening room and yelled " your boys weren't listening and they were screaming at me "! Mind you, this is her screaming at a room of parents who had no idea what kids she was talking about. I watched my grandson the entire time and never saw him " in trouble , or reprimanded ". So I have no idea what this crazy b*^#% is talking about. That was the first time I looked up reviews on this place ( my bad) I should have done it before I registered him. I was never informed when I signed him up that the gym would close the whole first week of July and I would still pay for it ( mind you I pay for classes 2 times a week) then 2 weeks later " Tina" cancels classes due to poor air quality " outside!!!!!" I called around to other places near by and no one was closing. But she is lazy ! She makes it very apparent she hates her job, and doesn't want to be there. Complains about her broken shoulder due to one of the kids punching her ( give that kid a metal) and literally is the poster child for bipolar! One day she wants to talk your ear off, and the next day she is a raving c&$@! Yep I said it " c&$@! My grandson informed he no longer wants to go there , because he said " we do the same thing every time". I dropped him from the program. And I swear to god ..... if I continue to have my credit card charged after filling out their 30 day cancel paperwork". They will no longer be in business! If you care about your child and your pocket book, don't bring them here! We will be starting the gymnastics program in Troutdale ( I won't say their name , it's easy if you want to look it up) they have vetted coaches, office staff, and " actual programs". They are rude and people should not go here. During Covid they shut down and was still pulling money from my account and was not going to reimburse me so I stop my account with them. Then they sent me and a whole bunch of people that was on team to collections even tho they were not training any students. The season was pretty much over during that time and they still pulling scams on honest people. Even coaches couldn't stand them so all of them quit or gone to other gym as coaches. My toddler has had such a positive experience in their Parent-Tot classes! He has become more confident in walking, climbing and is more aware of his feet when he's climbing down. While we've attended there have been nonverbal kids in our son's class that have shared words with the other toddlers. I am so glad we found this group, and know that my little climber has a safe place to explore. read more

Don't waste your time. They don't understand the sensitivity of new students and parents. Our younger pre-school aged children have been essentially unable to participate in these type of activates for multiple years due to covid and they showed no interest in accommodating a new and nervous student by allowing the parent on the floor. All adults, outside of parent tot classes, and daytime open gyms, must pass background check for the safety of all children. We have had lots of success with children after COVID. If you wanted a Parent tot class, you could have enrolled in that class. We looked at your account and you told us your child 69 years old, which is clearly well above the age range for our parent tot classes, or any other class at NGTC. It was your decision not to let your child even try the class, simply because you were not allowed on the floor with kids you do not know. It is NGTC's policy that we do not let ANY parents on the floor with children, especially parents we do not know. You were the one that decided not to let your excited child participate. If they get all bent out of shape about a mom who paid for the class and simply left because I did not agree with their policy then I FULLY believe every other parent who has given NGTC a poor review and their totally fabricated reasons why the customer is at fault. Justin stated that it was fine and we would just join in when we got there. He also stated that there was only one other child in class (now I know why) and that lots of other parents don't show up on time. Responding to changing my child's age in their systems, I rapidly changed my students info once I got home because I did not trust that NGTC or anyone working for that business to have my child's personal information and wanted it deleted immediately. However, their systems do not allow me to simply delete either the main account or my students information. After seeing many terrifying comments from other parents and investigating with the BBB, I confirmed that NGTC is not an ethical safe business. It was my decision to leave, and it is also NGTC policy to make us pay, which I did. And I have asked them to remove all our billing information which they have stored and based on other parents feedback I am afraid that they will charge me again when I only signed up for a single drop in class. I will look forward to an email confirming that has been deleted as well, but I am not holding my breath as many parents have stated that NGTC does not respond to parents requests or concerns; I guess they just post it on Google Review. I don't allow my child to be whisked away by strangers in a new and strange location ESPECIALLY after reading how many students have been injured or have been treated very poorly by the staff. And to the representative of the company who responded to my review - please do not assume you understand the feelings of my child - he was simply excited to get his snack which I had to promise him in order to even get him to in the door of your facility. If I could give a zero star review, I would. What a crappy gym and a scam op. The little kids classes are lame. I've raised two girls through gymnastics, one of whom went on to compete, so I know what a good gymnastics gym looks like. This is not it. The worst thing, though, is the lack of professionalism in the finance office. If you send a cancelation request via email, they ignore it and keep charging you. According to their "contract" you have to fill out a form and if you don't, too bad. (This is not standard practice for kids classes.) We quit back in May (2022). They ignored our request and have kept charging us and now say we owe 2 months. (It takes a lot to get me this mad, but I'm hoppin'.) Tina on the other hand was super nice and kind. She is very loving and loves this gym even though she can be mean. After I left NGTC. Alot of people I knew from the gym left months later. NGTC went down hill. Before I left, I was on a team, XCEL. There was a girl named Lilly on the team. She got kicked out because of her mother. She was told that she was useless. If you want your debit/credit card information held hostage then this is the place for you!!! I wanted to love this place and we did in the beginning. However, Coach Tina, had a mental breakdown while coaching my 2 & 3 year old. She traumatized us and I knew that we would at least need to cancel the 2 & 3 year old and have my older children continue. I understand discipline but punishing them by not teaching them gymnastics or letting them use the trampoline is a waste of our time and money. I tried to cancel online but was unable to cancel my debit card payment. Right away I was uncomfortable and I started reading reviews about people getting charged even after cancelling. I wish I would've read the reviews before moving forward with them as I tend to do business based on reviews. The previous gymnastics studio we attended allowed me to manage my debit card online without them holding it hostage. I assumed NGTC was the same and wanted to go there as it was closer to our home. I spoke with a financial manager today who refused to cancel my debit card. Very disappointed as I thought we would be with them for a long time and was looking forward to building a relationship. However I cannot support an institution that does their payments like this. It's un-American if you ask me and bad business practice to hold someone's debit/credit card hostage and not give them freedom to cancel at any time. That type of business practice is unethical and one my family will not support. We should be able to walk away as customers free and clear and not worry about whether you will continue to charge us anymore. Because of this reason I had to have my bank issue a new debit card and will need to change all my monthly debits. What a hassle!!! You state all the emails sent, yet we never got these apparent emails despite looking on the "parent portals" to see the email address is correct so why no emails??? You state we did not pay on time "multiple months" yet funny how despite on the parent portal our debit information showing set up correct and showing set for auto draft but somehow you did not bill us based on that set up and then try to charge late fees? Okay then. Funny how we are not the only people complaining about this. Lastly the freebies after we were apparently told, do not return. I state again, where are these emails??? Every single email folder....nothing from you. You then proceed, in front of our child and other people to act in an unprofessional manner, you do not have the ability to answer any questions when you see total shock in our faces when we walk in for class to find out we have been kicked out?? That totally shows you did not notify us and then proceed to run out of the room to avoid us. Are we too intimidating with our child in the room? I spoke with an individual Saturday about scheduling our son's birthday party with you guys on December 22nd. She told to sign up online. I registered in the parent portal and cannot find anywhere to do the birthday parties. Everything says to call or email to set up birthday parties. Also, It was very discouraging to call and find out you guys charge $25.00 additional to not enrolled students. Your website does not state that on the events page that discusses party pricing. Every time I call I get voicemail. I also tried to e-mail the e-mail provided on the event page to contact & get an error that it's not a valid email. I usually am not the one to blast a business in a negative way but I want everyone in my area to be aware of Northwest Gymnastics Training Center in Gresham, OR off of Powell. I'll go ahead and explain in detail everything that happened so it's very clear why I am publicly calling them out as a very poorly run, deceptive business. My 85 year old Mother went in there this past December to purchase what she was told was 6 months of gymnastics classes for Miss J. They were quick to take her payment but she was not given any information at that time about anything other than "contact them when she was ready to start". After several failed attempts to call them to see how we redeem the 6 months of classes I finally dropped in and was less then impressed with their system but gave them the benefit of the doubt. I was given a website to set up a "parent portal" login. Never once did anyone explain to me anything further other then open gym was on Saturdays for a $18 fee and the first one was free. No credit card was ever entered on our behalf. Miss J took the 6 months of gymnastics and we decided the gym was not a good fit for us for several reasons that I won't go into because that's not the point of my post. On June 13th I received an email from "Tina" stating that the coach would like to advance her to the 5pm class. I declined stating that our 6 months was up and could she verify. She responded "yes, you are correct. Your next tuition payment will be due July 1st". I responded, "Thank you but we will not be continuing". End of email correspondence until July 10th. On July 10th I received a "thank you, your payment has been processed". I promptly responded, "I sent an email in June not to renew. Please credit back the MasterCard". I called my Mom to explain to her there may be a pending payment on her card since that's the card used to pay the 6 months but I told them to credit her back as we were no longer going to continue classes. Little did I know at that time that it was actually my Husbands debit card that had been charged the $93 Absolutely puzzled on how they would have his card number since my Mom had originally paid for it, we quickly realized they must have saved his card information when he paid for her last open gym. After several emails back and forth between yesterday and today, they have yet to provide me with an email they stated was sent to me on June 14th about coming in to fill out a "form of 30 drop". (Email pictured below) and they have yet to provide me with a signature my Husband supposedly provided them to authorize his card. On top of all of that...... I go to login tonight to my "parent portal" to see if somehow I was delusional and had a authorized card on file and it says my email is not in their system. I've logged in the past 6 months for open gym but now all of a sudden I can't Are you smelling what I'm stepping in Shady, shady, shady! At this point I could care less about the money! My daughter loves attending class at NGTC. Gymnastics day is her favorite day of the week. It has been such a joy to watch her confidence grow as she progresses. We joined NGTC about 1.5 years ago with rec classes with some of the girls and EJ and then joined their jo competitive team this last year .. it has been wonderful becoming part of this NGTC family (which it is) .. the friendships and commitment to growing in skill each day, which our daughter has grown to be a part , of has been nothing but a joy to witness .. she would sleep there if allowed lol .. great communication and answers personally or email well. This family-owned gym is so unorganized and unprofessional, especially the team director, son of the owner. The communication skill of this individual is so unprofessional. This gym also made multiple mistakes on billings, never clear when they change practice hours or cancel practices. My daughter was there for a little over a year, and we let go of many frustrating facts, and we have been very patient since they are short-staffed like everywhere else. Starting our daughter's middle school this fall in the dual language program, and because we live 30~40 minutes away from the gym, our daughter decided not to participate in her competitive team. She had to make an emotional decision quickly to adjust to her new schedule. Since NGTC considered their athletes a part of their "NGTC Family," We sent sincere emails to the owner, the director (husband), and her team coach asking how our daughter could drop out of the team and continue a relationship with the NGTC. She loved the coaches and her teammates so much. But we got no reply. The communication with this gym has always been frustrating. They want to be contacted by email, but they do not get back. We waited a few days. No one replied. It seems like they did not care about us once we mentioned that she was thinking about leaving the team. We continue to contact them via email and phone for how to process this but no replay. So we called all three numbers that we were given as contact numbers on Saturday during open gym hours. We figured someone was there at the front desk, offices, or at least we could leave messages again. This time, the team director answered one of the three numbers, but he hung up as soon as he heard my voice. Then he texted me, saying he did not appreciate me calling his "private" number on Saturday evening. I texted him that I had no idea that was his "private" number, and we were trying to reach someone at NGTC. He could tell us, "this is my private number, and I will call you from the office during my office hour".... I did leave him a message before this call. Isn't that how a good businessperson should be dealing with their customer? We called all numbers because they did not return our emails or phone calls for almost a week. I guess that ticked him off. A few days later, the team director texted accusing us of not paying the team drop fees, and he threatened us to charge tuitions until next May and all of the meet fees and send us to the collection agency. We never dispute to pay the team drop fee. So we notified them that we would like to come in to sign the paperwork and pay all the fees next time (last day) my daughter goes to practice. No one gets back to us. We go to the gym, but strangely, the owner, team director, and director (they are also coaches) are not there. But the friendly front desk lady said she could take care of the paperwork and take the check. Great, we wanted to be done, especially after the team director threatened to charge unreasonable fees and send us to the collection agency. Then the next day, we finally got an email from the owner saying we did not take the proper protocol (?) and we were not dropped from the team. She said that we were instructed to email the team director. She was also upset that we called her son on Saturday night after explaining in our email to her that it was not intentional. I guess it is okay for her to call me anytime she wants to clarify her clerical error, including the weekend. The team director instructed us to call during his office hours (not published anywhere) or email NGTC. If that is the protocol, we followed the protocol. They did not get back to us. So my husband called the team director again during his "office hours" that he texted. He did answer the phone, but he hung up on my husband. And it gets crazier! The team director called back and threatened us that he would send us to the collection agency and hung up on my husband again! My husband called him back, but he kept saying one line of whatever he wants to, like "now are you going to listen to me?" and kept hanging up, not letting my husband say anything. My husband was very polite, calling him "sir, please do not hang up..." he hung up on my husband five times! Then he text us that our account is clear, and if we contact them again, it is considered harassment. So childish. One accidental phone call to his "private number" can make him act like this, and this is how they treat people they once considered part of the "NGTC family"? This is very unfortunate. I don't think they are bad people, even after the team director mistreated us so badly. I feel sorry for him that he does not know how to talk to people, be professional, and have good customer service skills. Everything you will read about this place about how money hungry they are is true. They don't care about your kids, just your money, it's true. I found out tonight that we have been getting billed for months - my daughter hasn't attended class in many, many months. In fact, she now has NOT gone to the gym longer than she ever DID go to the gym. Not once has NGTC called to see where she was, if she was coming to practice, if anything was awry or to remind me that they were still billing me.... They emailed tonight saying that my payment had declined. Imagine my surprise, when I remember having a conversation with the coach that we were exploring other gyms and leaving for a break - I considered that my notice for leaving, I knew we'd have to pay the rest of the month and didn't say anything about it. I'd assume if I also needed to fill out their "drop form" that the coach would have said something. Anyway, I get their email and ask them to please consider my email the cancellation and shared my frustration that they'd still been billing. I was taken aback that I'd hear from them about lack of payment, but never hear from them about lack of athlete! I asked them to share the date of my daughters last class. they wrote back with a canned response with a copy of their form, saying the only way to cancel is in person. Didn't bother to answer a single question. Why the "in person" clause? The only plausible reason is to make it more difficult to cancel. It's like that episode of friends where they try to quit the gym. Why on earth wouldn't they just cancel my "membership" at this point? I haven't even asked for a refund, just asking them to cancel via email. They're refusing to cancel via email, phone, etc... because of their "policy". Quoting policy and continuing to bill someone when they know I don't want their services and haven't used their services is so unethical. These people don't care about your kids. The coaches never learned my daughters name. We had different coaches every other class. We've since moved on to try Rigert & Thunder Elite, both places showed a genuine interest in my kiddo and her success as an athlete. Don't go to this place, it's awful. read more

My daughter was going there for weekly classes... I paid bi-weekly. After them doing one shady thing with money I read the reviews and was a little surprised to see that many other parents had major issues with this place. COVID hit and classes stopped.. I received a call from an employee asking if my daughter would continue classes with them, I confirmed that she would no longer be attending their gym... she said "ok" and the phone call ended. It has been months with no word or additional charges made to my card so I had no clue what was coming this Friday 9/25.... well it was a $561 charge right out of my account. I emailed them to tell them this was wrong and we haven't gone there for MONTHS (6 months) and she replied that I never filled out the cancelation form and that she would send me a check for a "fair amount" WHAT? I started my granddaughter at NGTC last December. I was a little late in paying and they pulled my money from my bank account. I did not give permission to do that and since they just pulled it out without letting me know, my bank charged me overdraft fees. I kept going there because my granddaughter liked going. My two grandchildren live with me now and I am their sole provider so funds get tight sometimes and I was unable to pay for a couple of months. I called and left a voicemail to let them know I could not pay and if that was a problem or if there was a process, please return my call and let me know. I never got a call and was able to start going back to NGTC in July. I brought my granddaughter in, paid the monthly fee and my girl was able to re-start her activity at the center. Then, when I brought her the next week, she was told to sit in a chair waiting for me to come back. My granddaughter has been through a lot of trauma and her having to be pulled from the class and sit like she did something wrong was traumatic for her. I let them know a few times what had happened but the lady just kept looking at her computer and tapping her phone with her finger saying that I owed for the 2 months we did not attend. She continuously called me "Ma'am" and her whole demeanor was condescending and disrespectful. I absolutely warn anyone who is thinking about sending their child to this facility, don't. Find one that actually cares about the kids and not only about the money. Very bad experience and I whole-heartedly do not recommend this place. read more

I have witnessed the owner of this gym absolutely shout at a preschooler and handling them forcefully, it was worrisome to watch. She was irritable and downright mean to the kids from the beginning of our Groupon class and I just kept wondering to myself why has she chosen to work with kids when she so clearly can't stand them? I can only imagine what leaving children with her over long periods of time would do to their self-esteem. Who wants to put their child through that? Had a horrible experience trying to host a birthday party at this location. Not only did I get no information on the actual party and what to expect, but the party fell on the height of the coronavirus scare and I called repeatedly for 2 days straight as schools and other event centers were all closed and got no responses to whether the party was cancelled or not. I left numerous voicemails and never received a call back. I had to make the decision to cancel the party the as I had no information and needed to inform my guests ASAP. I emailed the facility (the day prior) since I wasn't receiving any calls that I had to cancel because I could find no information if the facility was even still open, plus my guests were already uncomfortable being there. It was then I received a screen shot of their cancellation policy and that I could hold the party at a later time and since I didn't let them know until the email I would not be refunded. I tried to contact them immediately after as well as throughout the day (even the time the party was supposed to be held) and no further email or telephone responses were received. This is a warning to anyone that is thinking of going to this place! I wantef tyo rate it at zero stars, but couldn't. They debited my credit card without authorization, and then wouldn't refund the money! I was told they could only credit me for the next month (which is illegal without my consent), and was the beginning of the end for me. The trainer would never take my phone calls, or talk to me in person, but instead wanted to ONLY communicate through email. I asked to talk with her when she was in the office, and was told we would need to email her....which was obsurd and extremely unprofessional..she was right there?!?! I made the decision to give the required 30 day notice, due to very poor communication from the owners and trainer. It was done in a very polite manner, and got a disturbing reaction! Eric (owner) told me that we were done at that very moment, and that my daughter could only attend rec for the remainder of the month (which is nowhere in the contract). He immediately pulled my daughter out of the class, and told her to get her stuff, and that I was out front waiting for her!! My daughter realized that she had left something in the back, and went back in to get it. When she returned, she was traumatized and crying! We found out that Eric (owner) had the audacity to tell my child that he didn't like her mom!!!! He actually repeated those words right in front of my fiance. Who in their right mind says something like that to a child...especially an adult!!!! My little girl had absolutely nothing to do with what was transpiring. All I wanted was to discuss gear that may be needed for upcoming events. Instead, my daughter gets kicked out after I politely gave the required notice. Remember, this is a place that works with KIDS all day long, and that in and of itself is a scary thought. You have been forewarned, and hope you avoid this place at all costs. read more

I do not recommend this establishment. I paid our dues, requested my money back the same day to a medical issue and was told I would not be receiving a refund even though it was the same day I paid and I could provide a doctors note for the medical issue. The medical issue will be ongoing and will not go away. They said I could make up the missed days but that won't be possible. I believe they should have given me some leeway as they know the situation and that would have been good customer service. read more

Look at the reviews and run. I originally brought my 7 year old daughter here to try out for a day. She could already do a back tuck, back hand springs, aerial, etc.... They have kids teaching these students and I knew she would not get the amazing training that she got else where (military family and got training in another state). I took my oldest somewhere else where she walked onto the competition team. I left my 2 year old daughter at northwest gymnastics because I just wanted her to have some fun (they did not follow Covid Protocols. They had way more kids in the gym than the should have had, and did not clean their equipment like the other gym with smaller classes, she has a large dog with hair everywherrrreeeee go in her office it is disgusting and it tracks out to the main area as well). I took my daughter out which the main lady knew. I was not charged until almost 2 months later $170. Mind you the other gymnastics place warned me that they have horrible reviews for a reason and to take my daughter out of there which I did not listen. Also whenever my 7 year old misses a couple of days they reach out to me because they have relationships with their parents. This lady did not call or do anything in almost two months knowing that my 2 year old had not attended one class at this gym because they are ONLY in it for the money (if we even want to call it this). When I spoke with her she continued to be condescending until she hung up the phone. I have gotten my money back from my bank (I never gave her permission to save my card information). I just want you all to go look at other gyms with great reviews. LOL People have made similar reviews to this lady and her responses are always either condescending and defensive. Be careful signing your child up as an attendee as they say obviously RELY on these charges without approval from a parent to CHARGE THEIR ACCT - multiple times. The staff at NGTC have been awesome to work with. My daughter is on team, and when our family hit a rough patch this last year, we reached out to them instead of dropping the program, and they worked with us amazingly over a six month period so she could stay on team and let us get caught up financially. I met with Tina (business owner) today to resolve the late fee issue that I had with my account. I noticed my checking account being debited each month and thought all was well until I looked further into my payment history to find that a late fee of $25 was being added to the bill before the payment was debited from my account. My issue with this business is that they could have debited my account on the last day the payment was due each month rather than wait until the $25 late fee was applied to debit my account. Future customer beware of these late fees and make sure you click that little box that says auto pay so that they debit your account with the regular monthly fee rather than tacking on that $25 late fee and then debiting your account. read more

Friendly joint from front end reception to bookkeeping/billing to coaches. Coaches are young but are kid focused and performance minded with light discipline (Think "no talking", "please listen,", "what are we supposed to be doing now?"). My daughter had growing pains in her feet where she needed to stop walking for months, but there was nothing she could do but keep on truckin'. They allowed her to make up this missed sessions very generously once she was able to practice again. Good instruction/learning environment with no pressure to join a "team." Also, there's a sign that asks people not to wear perfume or any nut products. That's a plus for us b/c fragrances bother me, but a minus b/c we are big nut eaters (for protein); however, I really respect the thought behind it--keep everyone safe. read more
