I went to this practice post stroke and for epilepsy. In treating my epilepsy, they often forget or reuse to refill my prescription which I am often left with zero refills and no way to communicate with the office that I need a refill. This causes a lot of anxiety for me. The only way to get a prescription refilled is to have the pharmacist call the office to ask for a refill. They seem to be experts in non-communication but will call non stop if they think there might be a problem. read more

Whoa! What a horrible experience I just had with Dr. Khan's office. In April, I called to set up my first appointment with the doctor. His office said he had none available until July 29th, then not until late August. Because I have a timely issue I need addressed, I took the appointment 3.5 months into the future, and rescheduled my planned vacation. Fast forward to today... The doctor's office left me a message that Dr. Khan would not be in the office on July 29th (I guess he schedules his own vacations less in advance than I do), and I would have to reschedule my July appointment. When I contacted Brittany, Northwest Urology's receptionist, she told me they were booked through mid-October -- six months after I scheduled my original appointment. When I told Brittany that was unacceptable, and that I would need an appointment in June or July, she took an attitude. She had the temerity to blame ME for taking the appointment her office would ultimately cancel by saying, "You didn't HAVE to reschedule your vacation. You could have taken the August appointment!" I asked her to have an administrator or Dr. Khan call me himself to reschedule prior to August, but all Brittany could muster in a sarcastic way was, "I hope you have a NICE day!" I'm actually glad this happened. While writing bad reviews on several sites for Dr. Khan's office, I discovered Dr. Khan has a number of one and two star reviews. One site (maybe it's this one), had him rated with only 2.9 stars (before my review). Whether Brittany is rude to all of the doctor's patients, or if Dr. Khan is a poor doctor, is of no matter to me anymore. They used to be good. I fell on hard times and became disabled from ms. I lost my job and pet social security, you have to wait 2 years to be put on Medicare. They dropped me because I have Medicaid waiting for Medicare.... Also, Dr. Katsamakis only tapped my knees with his little hammer and then prescribed drugs. read more

Not sure if I can return to this practice. I had a family emergency and had to reschedule my appointment. Shortly after that I received a bill for $100 for a no show appointment. Called to explain in more detail to the billing staff who did not seem interested in me or my situation. The woman I spoke to said she would pass on the information. I heard nothing so I thought she understood my situation. That wasn't the case I got another bill, so I called again. The woman I spoke to remembered me and wasn't pleased to hear from me again. I ask to speak to the manager - of course she was on another call and she would call me back, which she never did. I guess the manager believes that my personal emergency doesn't meet her requirements for rescheduling (not a now show) appointment. So I believe that this practice puts money before the needs of their patients. I do need to say that my doctor is a kind and understanding person. This is why it's hard to make the decision to leave Dr. Sorokin. I thank her for the care she has given me and hope this issue can be resolved. read more

Saw them several years ago for a consultation per my doctor. Even with insurance, they billed me over a grand for someone to come in and talk to me for ten minutes without any testing at all. She was also extremely rude. I received a $1200 dollar bill after. They said they accept BCBS, but apparently they didn't. I unfortunately was then in the hospital a little later, and they have been sending me bills for this time, when ONE of their providers saw me ONE time during my month-long stay in the hospital, again, just asking questions. I have very few, if any, other bills from that traumatic time. What is actually happening? They claim to accept insurance, but you will be billed, whether you chose their practice/physician or not (didn't have a choice paralyzed in the hospital), to answer a few questions and then get a huge bill. Dr Ali is an astonishingly good doctor. After following me for some months we decided to attempt Seroquel at ultra low dose for my insomnia after studying some medical journals and seeing 50mg is effective. I tried it for a month. It wasn't all that effective for anything. It created a placebo effect. Worse yet side effects caused my liver ALT/AST to elevate slightly. I visited the emergency room at Northwest Community Oct 8th due to persistent painful erections from the drug. The emergency room doctor told me to start holding doses on it that the drug may be to blame for the ALT/AST elevations (liver enzymes) as soon as I stopped the POISON of a drug things started to get better, and my sleep didn't change whatsoever. My classic sleep medicines just work and the doctor admitted that he tried to fix what wasn't broke and said "Whoa, you're scary when medicines mess up on you, now I see why you told me on your first visit 'don't fix it if it ain't broke'" He profusely apologized and I readily forgave him telling him "Medicine is a practice, it's a collaboration between provider and patient, a good provider is like you, willing to fess up to a mistake or a screw up and take a dent on the ego." He was delighted to hear this and reassured me he would never try to change my medicines again and would happily routinely refill my needed sleep medicine that I have been taking for over a decade. This man is how all doctors should be, non egotistical, collaborative, and when he makes a mistake he owns up to it. I wish more doctors grew a pair of balls like this guy has to be able to take a ego dent. read more

I've been a patient now for many years, and Dr. Anderson is great! I have visited their Rolling Meadows, South Barrington, and Lake Barrington locations. I've had a positive experience with both staff and doctors at all 3 locations. I am not a fan of Susan McNamara, Dr. Anderson's CNP, but I was thrilled with how Dr. Anderson listened to and treated my concerns, and we worked out a 'system' to ensure that I don't have to encounter Ms. McNamara again. The staff has also been amazing at accommodating my desire to not interact with Ms. McNamara. While my reasons are justified, they are personal/interpersonal in nature, and have been sufficiently addressed by the practice for me to consider them resolved. If you have an issue with an employee, please talk to your doctor/the office manager. Everyone has bad days, and issues can not be addressed until they are made known. I have nothing bad to say about Dr. Jackson. I only saw him for "a minute". I spent more time with his (Jr. Resident?) other Doctor. That upset me! I went to see Dr. Jackson, and ONLY DR. Jackson! Dr. Jackson is surrounded by staff that makes him look incompetent! His staff makes the hospital look incompetent! Office puts health system technicalities ahead of patient care. I asked for a migraine appointment, was booked, showed up on time but was told the last physician I saw (in the same practice!) must release me to see another physician. They told me to go home (with terrible migraine) and that they'd follow up. 30 minute drive each way. And no follow up to the problem or reschedule. TERRIBLE TREATMENT OF VULNERABLE PEOPLE Like other reviewers if I could give them 0 stars I would. One of the Dr's prescribed a medication to my mother that causes stomach irritation. The medication caused her such severe stomach issues she had to get an emergency endoscopy. I called to complain and the Dr played it off like 'yeah it maybe can cause stomach issues'; when I as a non-medical professional was able to Google it and see a specific warning about people with history of ulcers, which my mother has! Today we went there and the office receptionist staff refused to let my mother be seen by her doctor because we didn't have the right insurance document - even though I had the proof of insurance with all the details of her policy. I called the insurance to ask while we were there at reception and they said that they had to let my mother be seen and the receptionist said no and that we would have to reschedule. Meanwhile the doctor is telling my mother to come into the office; the receptionist says 'No.'. I live overseas and am going home next week so rescheduling is not possible. This is shocking treatment. My mother has Parkinson's and transportation is really difficult. I can't believe how little regard these people have for their patients' wellbeing. read more

WHAT A NIGHTMARE.... If I could I would give 0 stars. Northwest Neurology and Dr Bikshorn are a joke. We had an appointment set with a physician for over a month and then told a week beforehand that Dr Kolhman wouldn't be available. Was not given a reasoning and was asked to do a tele-visit. After some back and forth calls, I was moved to see Dr. Bikshorn and was only given one opening which was less than 24 hrs away for the next day. Otherwise it would be over a month before I could get in. Very unprofessional (just wait because the truth comes out after the actual appointment). Took the last minute appointment due to their negligence and was greeted with rude office staff and a cold encounter with Dr Bikshorn. Both myself and my husband had to answer the covid screening prior to us going into the exam room. The nurse assistant said my husband couldn't come in because him and I weren't both vaccinated. I was only able to call my husband over the phone so he could hear what the doctor had to say. The doctor had not read my chart at all, asked repeat questions because he wasn't listening. He assumed I had depression when I was there for a MVA rollover accident for a concussion and tried to push an anti depressant on me to "treat" my concussion headaches. I wasn't there to ask for medication this was a follow up appointment. I did not state that I was having headache problems and shared they were getting better. Doctor was very eager to prescribe me a medication for nothing and send me on my way. Highly unprofessional and seemed to hate his job. Must get a kick back from pharmaceutical companies to push drugs on his patients. Will not be going back and going elsewhere. Complete waste of time and money. When I was done I was back up front with the office staff. At that point they told me I couldn't schedule with my original doctor because he was no longer taking new patients. The front desk personnel informed me that I was scheduled with Dr Kohlman by mistake. Forcing me to remain with Dr Bikshorn for yet another follow up appointment. Rolling Meadows office was my original office so I will be going back to that location and my original doctor. Highly don't recommend this doctor unless you like being treated poorly and ignored. I just tried to call and was told in the voice recording the hours were Monday-Friday 8am to 12pm then 12pm to 4pm. The website first off says until 5 pm except for Fridays so that's wrong. Fix that. The WORST part of northwest neurology is the on call service or their call center. Not only do you have to wait on average 20 minutes or more to make an appointment......what if every day workers are trying to make an appointment during their 30 minute lunch break? They have to take all of it to make one appointment? It's 2020.....there should be a feature in the Healow app to schedule appointments with your doctor electronically because in a matter of minutes you'll see what is left open and works for your schedule. I did that yesterday with my physician out of Advocate and didn't have to deal with waiting. When I tried calling just around 4:40pm or so not knowing the exact time they closed I got the after hours service. All I said was "I am trying to make an appointment.........". "You'll have to wait until Monday *click*" and she hung up on me. Wouldn't even let me finish my sentence l, said that and hung up on me. Really?? What kind of customer service is that? Clearly whomever I got hates her job and needs to find a new one. Also I needed my doctor to fill out one form for me and they charged me a $45 fee just for him to fill it out. Which by the way, I work in Healthcare and I know sure as hell the nurse filled out the form, the doctor did a look over on it signed it and sent it back. I've witnessed this myself. I had to pay $45 for that? RIDICULOUS!! I'm considering finding a new neurologist and physiatrist... Which is unfortunate because Dr. Khan and Dr. Schulman are AMAZING! But cutting through the red tape and dealing with people who are rude and have an attitude just to make an appointment is absurd. It's bad enough I always deal with people with attitudes I certainly don't need one when I'm trying to get the medical care I need. If you're considering them I'd personally STAY AWAY! But who knows maybe you can play Russian roulette and see if you can find a few who are kind. read more

The one office lady was so unfriendly and rude. I drove my sister 3 hours to take her after a 3 month wait to get in. We arrived at 20 minutes before the appointment and they asked for her drivers license and insurance card. I had it on my phone and the one laday said I could email it to her well the drivers license was blurry so I had to call the facility my sister is in to have them email it I kept them on speaker phone until the staff received it. This is when the rude office staff said not its to flat its 10 minutes late now to see the Doctor and we only accept the actual physical ids!!!! I was so upset I work a practice and we accept electronic ids. Then she proceeds to accuse me of signing my sisters paper work and that I need a POA next time we come I said no I don't I did not sign the forms !!! So she says next appointment is 3 months I was like totally unacceptable!!! We have an appointment at 9 am in 2 weeks which is a 2 hour drive to go pick up my sister and then 2 hours to get there. Dr Sherman specifically was the neurologist I saw and I appreciated how he listened, asked questions, listened then Examined me. We developed a course of action and at no time did he ridiculed the doctors that have previously seen me Or the medications I was currently on. Middle age so Nuance enough to consider all parts of patient care and knowledgeable about older medications to compare to today's new medications. read more

Based on previous reviews I was expecting to have an unpleasant front office experience when I made my initial appointment. The person on the phone was business like and was a little taken aback when I requested a specific doctor as a new patient, but I had done my homework and knew a couple I wanted to see. She wasn't rude, just business like. I saw Dr. Bach and couldn't have been happier with the visit. She took her time, asked many questions and did, what seemed to be a thorough exam. Suggested a couple of tests to identify the issue. The office staff was nice, no complaints. I then went to the Barrington office to get two separate MRI's. Same thing very pleasant experience with the front office. The MRI tech was very competent. I sent several messages via their patient portal and either the doctor or her nurse/assistant was very prompt in getting back to me. No complaints from this patient. read more

After trying to get an appointment for weeks, due to a work schedule that would not allow me to take off for an extended period of time, we were finally able to get an early afternoon appointment. I rushed out of work early to pick up my wife and drive her to this alternate location (we usually went to Rolling Meadows). Unfortunately we arrived 15 minutes late and the receptionist turned to us without an ounce of compassion and said "not gonna happen". An assistant came into the lobby a couple of minutes later and said (in front of everyone in the waiting room, as if to use us as some sort of example) that the doctor would not see us. We could hang around if we wanted to and hope for a cancellation but they would not guarantee that we would be seen. I understand the need to be on time for appointments but after being a patient there for about four years it was our first occurrence. I think they would be more compassionate and understanding with a client that has severe mobility problems. It could have been handled more professionally. After getting back in the car and calling the main number we were able to reschedule on a weekend with the Rolling Meadows office. Unfortunately that meeting did not go well and, as I had a feeling, Dr. Katsamakis is now our former neurologist. read more

very upset with my service. was going threw a real tough time. i was looking to expand my neurological knowlege from my previous experience with one. it turns out i was not being educated at all and i was made to feel uncomfortable, unwelcomed and violated. not only did the doctor or who ever it was doing the initial consultation talk so slow you cant understand him, he continued to ask me if i wanted to go to the emergency room for asking him medical questions. i did not feel out of line in my questioning as i was un familure with a surgery i had as a baby to save my life. i feel as if the treatment i was looking to seek there was more negatively effecting me than possitive. read more

If I could give a zero, I would. My brain tumor was missed entirely by the neurologist who looked at my MRI last year and told me everything was fine. Thank god the radiologist didn't miss it. Then, after getting the radiology report, my neurologist told me I could go to a neurosurgeon to get it checked out "if I wanted." I almost didn't go because I thought it wasn't serious based on his attitude! I think he was trying to cover his butt that he'd missed it on my MRI. I went to the head of surgery at Loyola University, who showed me my scans, and I, with no medical training, could identify the tumor without needing it pointed out because it was so big! How a medical professional missed it is beyond me! Within weeks I was having seizures due to the tumor, and by the end of summer, I had a craniotomy to have it removed. Luckily I had immediately transferred to a Loyola neurologist who took over my care because I would probably be dead if I'd stuck with this practice... seriously! Do your LIFE a favor and find a different neurologists' office! read more

George Katsamakis and Lisa Jackson are honestly the best. I don't know how I would get through my diagnosis and path with MS without them. They have been there every step and have never disappointed me. I feel comfortable and cared about every time I see them. I have never felt rushed or ignored. I HIGHLY recommend them. The girls at the front desk are very nice as well. They are really good about working with my schedule and always welcoming when I come in. I was scheduled for an EEG in the Rolling Meadows office. The night before at 9 P.M. I got a call informing me that the appointment was canceled for the technician couldn't make it. I had to reschedule at the Lake Barrington office. When I got to the Lake Barrington office, I caught something from the technician that made my body itch. When I got home I had to put all my clothes in a garbage bag to wash and took a shower. One caveat, on more than one occasion when I had to do a test from my primary doctor or from a specialist, it's best to get a copy of the result and bring it with you. Northwest Neurology has multiple offices and it's not guarantee that the test result is in your doctor's hand when you see him. read more

I had only visited this facility twice and I had no issues. The doctor was pleasant, thorough and listened to the issues I was having with migraines. My problem didn't come up until this year when I needed to switch prescriptions due to the excessive cost the brand was with my new insurance. I had spoken to the PA on two occasions and she suggested a generic that was a third of the price and I just needed to send the quantity for the mail-in pharmacy. Tell me why this office placed an order for the brand and the generic??? I was so infuriated that they took no responsibility for their actions. Their reasoning was that they took the last note from the doctor from 2011 and my recent call this year and place an order for both. I told them several times that I called on three separate occasions indicating what prescription I wanted to be filled. In the end, I came to the conclusion that calling that office does not transfer into notes in your medical file which seems like an epic fail. If I can't depend on the staff to back up the doctor, the PA or me when I call then it's no telling what will happen. I did call my insurance company to dispute the charges and figure out why the doctor's office was able to place two orders for basically the same medication and this part was resolved. Someone should have questioned the quantity of medication that was being order for me IN THE SAME DAY. You can't depend on this office doing the due diligence and update your file when you call and that's just not a good situation for anyone. read more

Very disappointing The staff was very nice so thjs is no reflection on them Dr Sahay was horribly uncaring and unprofessional. I have never heard of a doctor who would instruct their scheduling person to give a patient their diagnosis while scheduling their appointment. It is unheard of and terribly upsetting. She was obviously annoyed that I asked for a call back, then terribly sarcastic and rude to answer any questions when she did. I felt like I was talking to a vapid teenager, not a professional, so I began treating her like one. She was the on call doctor when I went to the ER so my only previous encounter, I was somewhat unconscious which was probably for the best. I will be going to elsewhere for follow-up. Most organizations have mandatory courses for workplace and customer interactions. I think hospitals and centers like this need to do the same. If you believe she is a good neurologist, then it would be worth teaching her how to interact better with patients. They answered the phone 2 times out of 10 otherwise you are on hold until you decide to hang up. In my case the doctor ordered an MRI of my brain that the MRI center never received!!! One of the times I spoke with their staff they said its here in the tray we will take care of it. After 6 days never did!! The VERY rude Doctor put me on a drug and said take 1 a day for the first 3 days than 2 a day. It made be feel very weird and was concerned so I kept trying to call with no avail. Day 4 I wound up taking an ambulance ride to the hospital because I was freaking out and having a hard time breathing. Didn't hear from the doctor till 3 days after the incident. Talk about negligence. Still the MRI center never received the perception so I could get the very important scan done. Stay away from here unless they learn how to run a business. I sucks that their are probably some good doctors that work their but you can't get ahold of them. Cost me a $45 copay on the visit. Cost me $400 copay ambulance ride and $400 emergency room copay and I still have the same neurological issue I went to have solved in the first place. I have been seeing Dr Andrew Gorden for 8yrs. He first diagnoses me as "fine, nothing wrong" so I waited until I was completely paralyzed. I ended up at Good Shepard Hospital where they ran tests and came up with CIDP which although awful, it has been manageable. I was very lucky to find Dr Zihaid who prescribes plasmapheresis. I still need to see a neurologist. dr Gorden can't get me in until May even though I am one of his patients. He has a nurse who will see me. My illness is much too complicated for a nurse. I need a new neurologist and NW Neuro will not make a recommendation or even suggest someone. read more

I have been to every specialist for not only my brain aneurysm but for a myriad of other physical problems (getting old!) and he is not only extremely knowledgeable but so compassionate and thorough. I called to make an appointment and was told I owe a $20 copay and until that was paid in full, I could not make any appointments with this doctor. I changed doctors and medical group to one that puts their patients well being first. My daughter drove over 150 miles from Campaign IL to see this doctor and was 15 minute late to the appointment. Dr. Manisha Sahay was very cold and refused to see my daughter. Even when my daughter said she would take an abbreviated appointment the doctor just turned around and walked away. I read reviews that said Dr. Sahay was compassionate.
