His exams don't hurt and you can tell he seriously wants to be of help. He is very intelligent and explains everything in a manner you can understand. Update: I got help from Jennifer and she helped a TON so I'm beyond grateful for that. However, my lab bill was almost $300 and was told I can do a plan. My card was charged without authorization today. The entire bill. I've been a patient here 18 years and am absolutely looking for somewhere else to go. I used to see Dr. Chantel Ashley and she was amazing and so caring. I recently went in for some wonky symptoms and Dr. Nwogwugwu did not offer the same compassion. She basically told me at 35 years old my body is going through menopause. As a newlywed, this was hard to hear and she said "oh no. I just met you and I'm making you cry" and also pulled her phone out to let me know she has a patient in labor and her ringer should be on. Congrats to whoever was able to have a baby I guess? Then she printed off lab orders and fertility clinic referrals and left me in the hallway looking a mess and crying to wait for my papers. If what you want is to be left devastated with little to no compassion, this is your place! I understand she had nothing to do with the news that was given to me, but some understanding and empathy would have been nice. read more

After over 15 years as a patient at Northwest Women's Center, I am leaving due to consistently unacceptable wait times. Each and every time you wait at least an hour after your appointment time to be seen... at worst my all-time epic wait time has been 2 1/2 hours. My visit today reached 1 hour and 18 minutes, prompting me to walk out without getting my exam. Because guess what-- all of us have lives, kids to pick up, places we have to be...and you block out two hours of time thinking it will be sufficient for a doctor's appointment. Despite appreciating nurse Judy and my newly assigned doctor, the lack of communication and disregard for patients' time is intolerable. You cancel our appointments and charge us anyway if we are more than 15 minutes late, which I have never been, but if you keep me waiting an hour and 15 minutes past my appointment time it's "oh well things happen". No apologies, no updates about delays, and no effort to value patients' time - like the three hours of vacation time I used for my annual exam. Emergencies happen, but a simple acknowledgment, letting us know what's going on. Hey the doctor is running late, or gesture of appreciation could go a long way. Instead, patients are treated like numbers, not valued customers. Nobody gave a damn when I walked out. The only thing I was asked as I walked past the desk was ...did you let the nurses know... to which I replied...I don't really think they care because that's how you guys make me feel. Whether it's the physicians or management, this ongoing issue is costing you loyal patients. It might not be a big deal in Dr. dollars but to someone like me, who has been a loyal patient for 15 years and drives 25 minutes to come to your office... and use up my vacation time, it is certainly a big deal. I love Dr . Chizaram N and the front desk staff as well. They are very welcoming and friendly however the billing dept is horrible specifically Ms. Linda Hall the clinical administrator. I was told I had a big balance and can pay half in order to get re established with Dr.N since she was my original obgyn and I was dismissed because she wasn't in network with my previous plan. I was then told I cannot be seen until the full balance is paid. I pleaded to at least pay half then in 2 weeks the other but said NO even though I'm pregnant and haven't been seen in 2 months but they didn't care they were adamant to pay all upfront or you cannot be seen and even if you pay there no guarantee the provider will take me back. I was told after the balance is paid then they will ask the provider if she will take me back. I felt horrible and defeated that the office couldn't work with me or hear me out. I was exhausted and hurt because I've changed insurances 3 times to for this specific provider since she was so amazing. Everyone is great but the billing dept no way makes me feel it's all about money than your health. Every other department functions well so they should ensure the back office mainly billing functions the same because it is horrible as someone else mentioned in an older review. Billing department is very unprofessional and organized. They verbally tell you that you need to pay full and then half of a bill for hundreds of dollars they bring to your attention at your appointment and threaten to cancel it unless you do so when you waited months to be seen. Every single patient has billing issues. Save yourself and go somewhere else that is compliant. read more

I don't think I've ever hated a doctor's office more. McGuirk is a ridiculous dr and the others aren't better. When I NEEDED a prescription refilled they held it ransom until they could force me to come in for my well-woman exam. Their offices use all the fancy computerized ways to check in and communicate (read emails/texts) but no one there knows your name or really cares about you, particularly if you don't appreciate being called your first name by people who are half your age. Two weeks ago I had my annual wellness exam at Northwest Women's Center, and it's usually covered 100% by my insurance. Unfortunately, this year this clinic is charging me a separate fee for the pelvic exam as "the add-on overhead costs" because of "the increasing prices of everything". The problem is that I WAS NOT informed about this change in advance. THEY DIDN'T NOTIFY ME prior to my preventive visit that I will have to pay for the pelvic exam additionally. Nobody at the reception desk nor in the doctor's office told me about this new "add-on overhead charge" in advance. If they had told me at least before examining me, I would have refused to have the pelvic exam done at all. Another problem is that until now the pelvic exam was included in the annual wellness exam and covered by my insurance. Now the Northwest Women's Center is billing me as a separate visit on top of the annual preventive exam. I tried to explain it to them, but they want me to pay for their "the add-on overhead costs" regardless, because of "the increasing prices of everything". I don't think it's right, because the pelvic exam should be an integral part of the wellness exam. I would like to warn other patients. read more

Dr McGuirk is the Best! He brought my son into the world in a (scary to me) c section delivery with ease! (I have several pre existing conditions and he was always very educated on all matters and double checked everything). He is always cracking jokes but knows when to be serious. I went in for a routine pap with no complaints or issues. A week later I was sent a bill for $51 for a high risk hpv test that I did not authorize or was informed about. My insurance only covers this every 5 years and it had not been long enough. I reached out to billing at the practice, and they said that since I signed a form that all necessary tests were authorized, they wouldn't do anything about it. I explained that this wasn't a necessary test and they should have asked me at least before they performed the test. They should have already checked with my insurance to see what was covered before my visit. No response was given. I will not be back. Thank goodness the bill wasn't huge, but who is to say they won't do it again without asking and the charge be much higher. I will be finding a new doctor. read more

Once I'm done with my follow up visit I will not be coming back. I liked the doctor I had meet with for the consult to a procedure I was going to have done, it turns out that doctor wasn't even going to do that procedure and I guess it was just an her assistant. I came in expecting her to do it, no one told me that! Also I had something very alarming happen a few days after and I had to call the after hours Dr. Dr White, I couldn't even hear him over the phone because he was mumbling and he sounded annoyed that I was contacting him. They are quick about responding and they have a good online system for messages. The doctors and nurses are friendly. The front desk staff is rude and act put out when they have to work or check you in. If the receptionist was how everyone acted I would not go here for services. read more

Been seeing Dr. Baker for many years. Sometimes I wait a little and sometimes I don't. Sometimes a baby is coming during my appointment no big deal. That is life. My sister referred Dr Baker and she still comes to Houston even after moving 5 hours away. I live over an hour away. This is where I will go until he retires. I never have any issues scheduling my appointments and always receive a timely call soon after my appointment with my results and to ensure I don't have any remaining questions. Unsanitary and unsafe. Place is ABSOLUTELY FILTHY, this is my first appointment in about five/six months when the place was significantly cleaner. The restrooms now are straight up disgusting, there is dust everywhere on the floors and all over equipment. the sinks where staff washes their hands in are an absolute joke it's embarrassing. So you pay them their required "pre-payment", which is too much. When your insurance pays them, they owe you money. It's not their policy to notify you...you have to be paying close attention to your receipts and EOBs, or they will just keep your money. If you happen to realize they owe you, and you notify them you want your money back, they won't send it to you...you have to go pick it up, per their policy. I can't think of another business I've dealt with, medical or otherwise, that does business like this. Sure seems like they are doing everything that they can, legally (but probably not ethically), to keep your money. Shameful. read more

I made an appointment 2 months ago as a new patient for Dr. Stacy Norton. As usual, I gave my information as well as my insurance and all that they need. My appointment is tomorrow ( 5/12/2015 at 8:00am) I just called them 1:42pm (05/11/2015) to verify my appointment and they verified it. Before me and Jennifer hung up the phone, I asked if everything is okay with my insurance and she said she will check. then she was like -- they couldn't verify my insurance. ---- HOW COME NO ONE HAS CALLED ME? -- then she was like -- insurance tried verified it just earlier today. my point is they should've called me right away -- and not wait at a later time -- as soon as they were not able to verify it. I am already anxious about my doctor's visit and appointment desk and insurance verifiers made me more anxious. I don't want to end up paying more than what I expect. what if our insurance came up as out of network?! -- I wonder if they'll call me and let me know --right away?? -- ofcourse not, business as usual. I hate it when they give you surprise information when they could've talk to me right away and asked for the correct information. ---- not a very good customer service there. I read in some other reviews that the Doctor is very good so we will see in my visit tom. But as far as appointment and insurance verification they failed the first impression already. I have been a patient of Dr. White going on 4 years (both for OB and GYN). He and his nurses are fantastic. He has an excellent bedside manner and actually takes time to listen to complaints and offers valid solutions. He is not a pill pusher so if this is what you are looking for, look elsewhere. Anytime, I have called with questions/concerns, I receive a call-back within one hour. This is impressive considering how busy they are. I have also not had any problems with front desk staff. One of the cleanest doctors' offices I've ever been to, so that's a plus. The receptionists aren't the friendliest, they just simply do their jobs and that's it. But luckily the doctors are all really nice and well trained. I have yet to have a bad experience here. Once you're in the exam room, you have a wait a little while, but it's no longer than it would be at any other doctor's office. As a husband and new daddy I really appreciate the hard work and efficiently of the staff here. Every time my wife and I came to a checkup they were extremely nice and professional. The facility is always clean and tidy and welcoming. But I have to say the most important reason I am giving them 5 stars is speed. The nurses walk fast, they do all their measurements and procedures quickly and efficiently, while still being friendly. Our Doctor, Dr Moss, is great, she's very quick so you are in and out in no time, but she will answer any questions you have. Note: my wife suggests you get an early appointment, this way everything is freshly cleaned, like the bathroom. Just imagine dozens of pregnant women all trying to pee in a cup over and over barley even able to see over their pregnant belly, all in a single bathroom. As you can imagine it's hard to keep up with that demand and by the afternoon it's sometimes a little dirty. read more

First off I would like to say that I absolutely LOVE Dr McGuirk. I never wanted a male OBGYN, but he is my favorite doctor. My first pregnancy I had another doctor in the med center and had a complicated delivery and a month long stay in the hospital after delivering. My second and third pregnancies were both high risk and Dr McGuirk was amazing. Also prior to my last two pregnancies I had issues with ovarian cysts and he did multiple surgeries. On one occasion he even saw my in the ER that morning and I was in surgery the same afternoon. Some of my office appointments did have long waits, however that's what happens when someone delivers. I would want my doctor to put his appointments on hold if I was delivering too. That's completely normal for an OB. Now the reason for 2 stars.... the office staff is horrible. Call with something that is an emergency or a lot of pain, and instead of trying to squeeze you in that day their response is always to just go to the ER. I work in emergency medicine and this is why ERS stay crowded. Also the front desk girls are rude. Tara, Dr McGuirks scheduled for OB and surgery, messed up one of my appointments and after an hour long drive from Pasadena to cypress I was told that I wouldn't be seen, and that I would be seen the next Friday. I was told they would not move my appointment up in the next week and if anything changed to not even call. Just go to the Er. I was also told if I needed my medicine refilled to go to the ER. Unacceptable. Also the nurse refused to even come out and speak to me. Instead she had the front desk girls play telephone with me. Thankfully I had a hysterectomy so I shouldn't be back except for once every three years. I see looking back at reviews that the office staff has been an issue for years. I wish they would get this fixed because it really makes it a stressful experience, and I love my doctor. read more

The only reason this office gets any stars at all is because of the experienced doctors and nurse practitioners they have here but that's only IF you are able to get passed their abysmal staff. In the past two months I have had to reschedule my appointment three times because when I arrive at the office they "can't locate my appointment". I've learned now to get an appointment card every time so they are forced to take ownership over their consistent elementary mistakes. The one time I was able to get in over the past two months, it took two full weeks to get my lab results back, so the NP treated me without truly knowing exactly what I had because I was so incredibly uncomfortable. To sum it up, customer service is not a concern for the staff, they are not friendly and they do not try to make thing a work for a struggling patient. The doctors are great but they are not worth the stress the staff causes. If you are busy and value time and respect DONT COME HERE. Terrible... read more

Myself and my daughters have been seeing doctors at this facility for years and I have never been so disappointed in how they handle their business. I am in the insurance industry and I have went round and round with them several times about them over charging when the insurance company pays for well women exams 100% and they send us a bill every time we go into them for over charges. I've been going here for 9 years and really enjoy the progressive nature of this practice. Over the past 9 years the practice has doubled in size and number of doctors. They have also relocated to a new building directly across from the hospital where they occupy the entire 2nd floor. The office is tastefully decorated with a large waiting area and child care playroom. They seriously take advantage of technology and you see everyone walking around with their tablet computers which they seem to use for everything from scheduling appointments to recording blood pressure. However, they still use manual scales and blood pressure cuffs. Regarding the doctors, I have had the pleasure of seeing 3 different doctors in this practice and they are all very attentive and take as much time as I need for questions and explanations. As with most dr's offices these days, they also have an in-office "derma-spa" offering several treatments for skin care and weight loss. Overall, I love this place and they cater completely to today's woman. read more
