I went to Seaside the next weekend and met Kat and Josh. They were very friendly and Josh was amazing in sizing me up (I think Josh has done this once or twice) for the right fit and suit for me as a windsurfer. They had to pull a rabbit, or perhaps 2, out of a hat to get these O'Neils to the store but it all worked out with a lot of help from other Cleanline folks that made it happen. The O'Neil Heat was a perfect fit for me and feels great! I can see why this store has been serving folks on the Oregon coast for 46 years.................well done!

He had no idea who I was. Lanny was the most awesome, most interesting man I have spoken to. He DID NOT chase me off, DIDN'T chew my wife and I out...just very pleasant. He took us on a tour of his shop and showed us his elaborate cat trail and cat yard to protect his 5 cats! We then talked about his unique design shaping on stand up boards. Very informative. We didn't purchase one at that time, and Lanny knew we were not there to do that then. But he still took the time to help us. We are still thinking about the SUP we want, and we'll be sure to give Lanny a call! I suggest you follow him on instagram for some awesome design ideas. I did. They genuinely care about you have a great experience so they recommend spots and give you some helpful tips and fun information. They went surfing at the spot Point Break was filmed and a small part of Twilight. The price is excellent. The whole package for the two of them was about 140.00 for the entire day to rent the boards and full gear. We will continue to go back every time we visit and get our annual Cleanline hoodies.

I've been coming to Seaside for the entirety of my 40+ years on this Earth, and it feels like…read morenothing has changed the entire time. Now, I know that's not true. Some businesses in town have come and gone. Others have had a facelift. But the promenade walk, and the beach itself, is unchanged. Long after I'm gone, I'm sure it will remain the same. There's something comforting in the nostalgia that comes with returning to a place from one's childhood, and finding it to be exactly as remembered. I guess that's why I keep coming back, year after year, even though there are better beaches in the PNW and, of course, elsewhere in the world. Warmer ones, for sure, anyway! Still, the familiar, looming silhouette of Tillamook Head, the seemingly limitless stretch of white sand in either direction, a brisk wind whipping sand in your face, and the endlessness of the deep blue stretching out ahead of you...yeah, there is something magical about this place. The old, and the new, existing in the same place, simultaneously. A glimpse of eternity, perhaps. Memories frozen in time. I hope it never changes.

We were…read morelooking to rent a board for half a day and the person who helped us on a Sunday morning, which we think was the owner was not very nice to us at all. He was extremely condescending and just plain rude like he didn't want us to be there. He reluctantly let us see the rental boards and then decided to question if we knew what we were doing (been a surfer for over 7 years)...so after that we decided to leave. Worst surf shop experience I've ever had! We took our business to Seaside surf shop who were very helpful, friendly and made our morning better. Great rental rates! Also, Cleanline surf shop in Cannon is great as well as we've rented from them in the past... they were just closed the morning we tried to rent there :)

Rental selection was pretty diverse, from bikes and such to ANY need you had for surfing as well as a ton of local knowledge. Wet suits, boards, skims, you name it, they seemed to have it. From the moment I arrived, I knew this was the spot to have bonfires. The beach itself is wide and inviting, and Haystack Rock towers out of the ocean just off the shore, a stunning icon that draws everyone's eye. But it's not just the shoreline that makes Cannon Beach special. You can walk along the neighborhoods and enjoy the cute little shops. Downtown is small but charming. I loved walking through the artsy streets filled with galleries, specialty shops, and cozy cafés. I was able to slow down away from city life, shop for a handmade memento, and sit with a latte watching the waves. On a breezy afternoon, I saw people flying their kites and took advantage of the open beach breeze, so fun to watch. If you want a beautifully scenic beach getaway that's both peaceful and inspiring, Cannon Beach is absolutely worth a stop.

With being the location for the popular Haystack Rock, you'd think this beach would be so crowded,…read morebut it is pleasantly not. On top of that, Canon Beach is so easily accessible. There are tons of access points to the beach, but the easiest is to park in the Haystack Public Parking lot and walk across the street, past the public bathrooms and homes, and you're immediately in front of Haystack Rock. Besides Haystack Rock, Canon Beach itself was kinda boring to me though. The long stretch was rockless and smooth, just sand and ocean horizon. My preference is to see more boulders and rocks to keep things interesting. This beach is excellent for runners, though, because of the smooth sand and long stretch. There were a lot of people clustered around Haystack Rock, but less dense further on. If you're looking for seashells, there are none. The sand is super smooth all the way. It is a nice beach but not too many people hang out here, which is great if you're local. For the most part, we saw people come to see the Rock and then leave.
