If I could leave negative stars or even zero stars, I would have. If you're looking to be emotionally/mentally/ psychologically abused and humiliated by the group therapist in group therapy who violated your privacy in front of other participants whom you've never seen or met before, only to be removed and banned from group therapy upon complaining and then have the tables turned and be gaslighted and told that you have mental health symptoms and group therapy isn't for you instead of an apology or explanation, then you've come to the right place! Furthermore, group therapy always starts late and you better not mention it because the therapist will get sassy and rude, giving you drama. Why? Because that's their policy in case someone shows up late, so the receptionist won't have to be inconvenienced of having to get up and walk a few steps to open the door for the individual who might show up late, as I was told by one of the staff there. Don't waste your time, resources, energy or mental health and sanity on these shenanigans! You're better off staying at home watching a movie, taking a walk in the park with a friend or relative, going to an art gallery, or just banging your head against the wall to improve your mental health and well-being than coming to this hell hole! read more

This review is for one particular provider who works for Ben Gordon's Community Support Program. I have been receiving services from Ben Gordon for nearly nine years. Although the care I received has been spotty, with case managers coming and going, I have never been treated as poorly as I have recently by a case manager named Kirstin. She was my case manager for nearly two years, and everything seemed to be going great. Then, inexplicably, Kirstin decided I was not worth a simple phone call. She just refused to answer or return a single call until my anxiety got so bad that I ended up calling and texting her so much that I had my services terminated for her cruelty. No one ever treated me so disrespectfully in all the years I had case management through Ben Gordon. I received a letter of dismissal after all of this and the letter contained several lies that someone had related to the management. I pointed these lies out to them via a couple of letters I had written to the top two managers, but they still insisted that I cannot reapply for services until six months is up. Apparently, though, Kirstin got away with her awful treatment of a client completely unscathed. I know there are case managers at CSP who care and behave professionally, not ignoring their clients and getting them kicked to the curb. Kirstin is obviously not one of them. I really liked her and we got along fine. I had begun making some significant progress, and she ruined it all by intentionally placing me in a position where I have backpedaled greatly, adding to trust issues I have suffered from for years. I would recommend Ben Gordon, but not Kirstin. I sometimes hope I'll find out it was all a misunderstanding, but she never made a single effort to rectify the problem. I've started going to Ben Gordon center 2 years ago and can honestly say my mental health is just as bad if not worse. The first counselor I seen said he would refer me to someone that had experience in treating my needs, one of them being an eating disorder. I also set an appointment with a psychiatrist at the same time which the earliest was months away. A month later I called the counselor to follow up on this reference, he seemed to have no idea who I was or what I was referring to so he said he'd call me back, never did. Months later when I went in for my psychiatrist appointment, I asked to speak with him but he suddenly didn't work there anymore and I guess my file was just dismissed or lost in the system because no one bothered to follow up with me on finding a new counselor. As for medical services (it takes months to get an appointment with the psychiatrist) I had to wait 3 to 4 times longer in the waiting room then my appointment actually lasted if the doctor was even available. More than once I had to see the nurse because the doctor was so behind, in this case the nurse would just say she would call me back after she spoke with the doctor. Which never happened with either nurse. I just played phone tag til my next appointment. This has resulted in me going months without medication. I can't imagine it being healthy to go on and off psychiatrist drugs like this. When having a mental illness it's hard enough to get the courage to seek help, and when you do and seem to be casted aside like I have in this situation it makes it even more difficult to want to continue to seek treatment to get healthy. Thank goodness I'm not harmful to myself or others or even worse suicidal because the lack of treatment I've had from this facility it may have been too late for me. Anyway, let's hope I'm able to find a different doctor that takes my insurance even if I need to travel at this point, it would be worth it at least feeling like someone cared. read more

The counselor that my son sees is great and the reception staff is very friendly. However the receptionists that set up appointments for the psychiatrists are very rude. Furthermore I tried to get an appt for my son and I was informed that there are no psychiatrists there on Thursday afternoons, the only thing you can do is come in for a Skype session. I hope Northwestern changes that and make the psychiatrists start coming in on Thursdays. Overall would not recommend the psychiatry services. Receptionists are rude and unprofessional. Just stick with the counselors, at least you get treated like a human with them read more

Ben Gordon Center, For a group that's there to help people in our Local area you sure leave people out there to hang. Came in a month or more ago and to date not one return call. Absolutely not one step in the direction of working with my handicap daughter. We were in real need when we came in and I even offered cash payment up front until insurance was in place and we have as good or better insurance than a lot of the less fortunate portion of the population. I could go on with the crazy excuses I received when I called periodically of the last month but I will say I was amazed when I was told no one has gotten back to you since you were here and I quote "your new client file unfortunately has been issued to a staff member that is on medical leave" I asked when they went on medical leave and it was before we ever came into Ben Gordon center. WoW really And from there 3 weeks later still nothing I guess those people that came in with real need are still sitting on the persons desk that is on medical leave, I hope they are doing well and hopefully they don't need your services! For a place that is supposed to be in the business of helping people, they sure are doing a horrible job. I was new to the area and needed to find a psychiatrist to keep my prescriptions going without interruption. Apparently there is only one person there who can handle new patients - Brandy is the name I believe - but she was never in the office! I called many times and was never able to get a hold of her. The receptionists rudely told me to leave her a message and she would call me back. What they couldn't understand is that calling about psych services is a confidential matter. I work in an open office setting and did not want my co-workers to hear the conversation. Every time I called, I had to first find a private place in the office. And every time I did that, I could not get through to Brandy. I finally found a new doctor but it's an hour away from home and work. It's a shame when someone is seeking treatment and they can't even get an appointment. How many other people are out there seeking treatment but can't get it? read more
