It was needed due to sedative medication, so I was instructed not to drive myself. I am provided transportation thru insurance exactly for that reason but she couldn't be bothered and that was distressing and diminishing. She barked at me dismissively to, "get a friend or neighbor to drive you!". Problem was I had recently moved to Palmer and my appointment was at 7 am! Who wants to have a friend skip work, get up at 4 or 5 am, drive from anchorage to sit and wait for me to have a crown put on? Other than her obstinate rude attitude, everything else was top notch and the new clinic is beautiful! Packed with impressive technology like a machine that makes your crown in minutes! Dr. Mann has a beautiful heart and skilled hand and never hurt me once! I do think he should not rely on such a cold hearted woman to run his business though, no telling how many patients she has run off. She is the sole reason I couldn't give him the five stars he deserves, but I'm honest to a fault! Hopefully you won't have to deal with her and the rest of the front office staff are wonderfully warm, helpful, attentive and very easy to deal with. I would like to address my experience this morning. I let the tech know up front that I have a lot…read moreof anxiety regarding anything in my mouth, and dental work in particular. I also let her know my threshold for dental pain is very low. When the dentist was administering the numbing agent it was extremely painful. I tried to signal but was unsure how and I was slapping the arm rest and crying, trying to signal my distress. Then they started the water without me being aware of it. The suction was either absent or ineffective. Water was pouring into my throat and I could not breathe. I felt like I was drowning. I fought to sit up in terror but was held down while the dentist finished. I have no idea what sounds I was making in my panic and inability to breathe. Finally they let me sit up. I asked for time to compose myself and they left me alone. I was able to take additional medication I had with me to combat the anxiety. When the dentist came back he told me I could not scream and scare other patients or he would be unable to treat me. Maybe he needed to look at why I was terrified and address that instead of shaming me for wanting to breathe. We worked out a signal for if I was in distress, which should have happened before the start and with a maximum dosage of meds from my doctor I was able to complete what had to be done. Maybe by sharing this that dentist will think, and look to the cause of uncooperative behavior rather than simply blame the patient and cause shame when understanding is needed. Military Dental authorizes TWO teeth cleanings per year. After relocating to Alaska, I contacted Alaska Premier Dental and set an appt. for my teeth cleaning. I was also due for x-rays according to my insurance so those were done first after I arrived. I was then met by a hygienist who did a check of my gums and decided that I needed some dental scaling and root planing ---which, was very odd as I have had my teeth cleaned bi-annually for over a decade and have never had issues. Honestly, I can appreciate that they might be one or two spots due to coffee consumption that needed done, but to hear them talk, my mouth was about to fall apart and I had to have all this extra stuff done urgently! Of course...the other stuff is OUT OF POCKET and not covered by military dental. They sent one of their people to confront me while I was still in the chair to try and coerce me into this extra service. I repeatedly asked if they could JUST DO THE CLEANING that insurance covers 100% as that is what my appointment was for and they refused. Let me make it clear that their "rooms" aren't rooms at all but more like cubicles and I was being talked to within hearing range of other patients. I honestly felt bullied and coerced. So, I got up and walked out without ever seeing the dentist. On the recommendation of my neighbor I called another dentist and went to see them the same day to fill out new patient paperwork and show them the services that Alaska Premier Dental was insisting I needed and the costs. They made an appointment for me for the next day (they had a cancellation while I was standing there!) and the next day they CLEANED MY TEETH. I am going back for some scaling/planing work now that I have had time to work it into my budget. I cannot believe the way I was treated at this Dentist's office. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time with a staff that has no sense of decorum in dealing with patients and certainly doesn't take into account patient privacy.

So for me, finding a good dentist means finding one that doesn't make you feel like you have a "dental" appointment. That's been my experience with Pioneer Peak. I use to worry about having anything done to my teeth because I never knew if the procedure would be painful or not... always seemed to be hit and miss in the past if the dentist would leave me with a mouth full of pain afterwards. After having everything dental from cleaning to a rather large tooth extraction by Dr Paden over the years, I can honestly say I've never come away in pain or dissatisfied with the results. Finally; my teeth are very sensitive and in the past I've had poor luck finding a dentist that knows how to properly numb the area fully, until I started coming here. Dr Paden numbs the area in such a way I've honestly never felt a needle. I'm always numb enough that I feel absolutely comfortable with having my teeth worked on. If I happen to feel any discomfort I just let them know and they are willing to apply more if needed. They take health insurance and file all the paperwork for me which I really like as it makes it easy to deal with the paperwork. If you call and ask, I'm sure they have other accommodations for people without insurance - the staff is always good about answering questions!

I had to get quite a few fillings done, in which I don't have a high pain tolerance, so I was pretty nervous about these, but knew I had to get them done. Dr. Oxspring did a wonderful job with my teeth and I had way less pain than I expected to have. The chair has a massager which is nice to help you relax. They have a little tv and headphones in the room as well so if you're similar to me it helped take my mind off what was going on. Check in/check out: They have always been fast and nice and will answer any questions without being condescending. I 100% recommend this dental practice to everyone!

I got a molar tooth implant from them in 2019. At the time, they told me it was a lifetime warranty…read moreon the tooth. Fastforward to today, and the tooth they implanted in my mouth is lose. I go to them for a consultation to see what happened and what need to be done to fix it, and even after looking at the xray, he pulls it out of my mouth with NO pain relief, and says oops. I was very uncomfortable and in obvious pain as he was pulling at the tooth doing his "consultation", only for him to then say, after the tooth is already out, that they only have a 1 year warranty on implants. He said that it was most likely my bite had changed, but then in a phone call later said it was because the bone had started to deteriorate around the implant they had put in. So not only did he lie to me about the warranty in 2019, but he pulled out the implant without my authorization and without pain relief of any kind when I was in obvious pain, and in complete disregard of the xray he had just taken and looked at. On another note, I had come to them in 2020 for a tooth that was giving me pain that was right next to the implant. They said it was rotten and falling apart, so they ground down the tooth and put filling in, with a plan to put a cap on after I gave birth (I was 6 months pregnant at the time). I paid them at the time for everything they had done. Over a year later, they called me asking for more money, saying I didn't pay it all in full. When I told them it was because they didn't finish putting the cap on, they said that was not the case, and I just hadn't paid in full. So they are rude liars who don't care about their patients.
