SUPER SKETCHY! DO NOT RENT FROM! Terrible experience. Called and notified us that they would drop a…read moreday off the reserved 3-day rental due to poor weather conditions. Both parties agree to reconnect the next day to review a possible 2-day rental if weather conditions improved. He then calls the next day to ask why we didnt pick up the rental the prior day (that they cancelled), went back against his word said he would be billing for all 3 days as it was our fault for not picking up the rentals AND his "system" would not allow him to refund or change any reservations. We fully canceled the rental due to poor and shady business practices and rented somewhere else (Go to Tracksides instead). Boat Sport calls back 45 minutes later now wanting to negotiate "a new deal" and would now (again) honor a 2-day rental and not charge for Friday but we had already gone with another rental place. Next day places a charge against the credit card for thousands of dollars for a 3-day rental and full deposits. Called and they would not discuss details. Talked over us and stated everything was documented, it was their policy and he was entitled to all the money even though no services were rendered. Kept changing his story - flip flopping and didn't keep his word. SUPER SKETCHY! DO NOT RENT FROM!

UPDATED REVIEW SINCE 2016…read more we rented Bubba Boat for several years now and the service and condition of the boats have become worse and worse through the years. This year we rented from Saturday to Saturday even though we weren't staying at our rental until Sunday. When we arrived on Sunday we were all ready to take the pontoon boat out, but there was less the 1/8 of a tank of gas in it. We were stranded and someone from Bubba's company did not arrive to fill it with gas until 7pm that night. An entire day was lost and there was NO hint at a discount or change in price to this error. We contacted Bubba on Friday to see when pick up was and we kindly requested a later pick on Saturday due to the inconvenience caused on that Sunday and we were met with "we'll see what we can do." Paying an astronomical amount of money per day should result in a boat in perfect condition....not mold, leaves and pine needles in every cushion lifted up. I'm beyond appalled with the condition and service of the boat rental. If you're up in this area go with ANY OTHER RENTAL and you'll be better off.

We stayed in Tomahawk, WI for an extended holiday weekend and were looking for a spot to do some…read morepaddle boarding. While there's tons of lakes in the area, not all of them are ideal for paddle boarding. Buck Lake (which is part of the Almon Recreational Area) most definitely is! They don't rent out paddle boards right at the lake, so if you don't have your own, you'll definitely have to rent one elsewhere and bring it here. We have our own, so that wasn't a problem. The Almon Recreation Area includes a paved path leading to a small beach and nice little swimming area in Buck Lake. The beach also offers a great launching point for paddle boards. The lake itself is relatively small and wake free, so, even if the beach area is busy, you can easily paddle out to serenely crowd free conditions. We went three days in a row on a holiday weekend and only ever came within shouting distance of one canoe and one paddle boat. Beyond that, we had the lake to ourselves. Just above the beach is a wooded picnic area, complete with grills, picnic tables, and bathrooms. The recreation area also includes (down a separate paved path) a pretty epic frisbee golf course that meanders through the woods as well a trail system if you're looking to take scenic hike. Leashed dogs are allowed on the trail system. No pets (leashed or otherwise) are allowed at the beach/picnic area.

You know the horsie rides at the carnival where you have ponies go around in a circle and pay $5 to…read moredo that for a few minutes? Well, that is so lame and a huge ripoff. Might as well be the blue quarter-horse outside the Wal-Mart. Pine Point is located on US-45 about 4 miles north of the main part of Eagle River, which is a touristy town in northern WI. We knew about this place for a while and decided to check it out on our most recent trip up north. For $18 a person ($15 with Facebook promotion) you can ride a real full-sized horse on a real trail for about 45 minutes. They have rides every hour and you might not even need a reservation if it isn't a busy day. It's easy to spot with flags on a string and a sign for "riding stables" pointing to the entrance. We came on a Saturday afternoon thinking it would be crowded but we were the only 4 people at the riding stable. My 6 year old even got to sit on his own horse and being the courageous kid that he is, didn't freak out or want someone to ride with him. I got a perpetually hungry white horse named Silver who, unlike the Lone Ranger's horse, was only out on the trail looking for branches to munch on along the way. I had to prod him along and coax him to stop eating. The guy who gave us the horses warned me that he's a muncher... It was a pleasant ride through the wooded trail that spans the 60 acres of the property. We had a guide lead us along the way and the horses followed her lead horse without us having to so much as steer them once in a while if they had other ideas. And the entire experience was so much worth the money. And don't worry. These are nice horses that won't leave you like Christopher Reeves. We came back after our ride and they even let us stick around to get a few more photos of our horses... especially mine, who posed while chewing a branch from a shrub it found along the way. But as Bruce Springsteen sings: "Everybody's got a hungry horse". So if you're in northern WI looking for something to do, check out Pine Point for a fun horsie ride.

Simply the most beautiful spot in all of Wisconsin. This park has a nice campground along the…read morePeshtigo River, and the park itself has trails snaking all over. Stop in here for a breathtaking view of the Peshtigo from one of the picturesque foot bridges that criss cross the numerous islands and side channels and the entrance of Swamp Creek into the Peshtigo. The islands themselves have quaint little cabins that can be used to protect your food from the insects and the elements during a summer picnic, party, or family reunion. There are numerous grills and firepit/grills with chimneys. These things are so cool! The park looks like it should be teaming with trout because it is home to every type of prime trout habitat. Within 100 yards there are rapids, riffles, pools, runs, pocket water, sand and boulder structure, timber, and more. However, I have yet to ever see much less hook into anything. But it is nice to enjoy such a beautiful scene. There is a trail that connects this park to Goodman Park. Be careful to go left when nearing the beaver dam, as the trail skirts the damn, and it is treacherous if you are in a hurry.

Always was fine. Average bar. We liked it because it was on the water. This last time we stopped... we sat on the outside patio. We had our dog with and asked if he could sit on the patio. The female bartender said "of course". There was another couple and a family sitting outside who also had a dog. Our dog was laying next to me quietly and is extremely well behaved. Barely lifts his head. One of the workers, a 30-40 yr old man with dark hair, asked the other bartender "do you think I can make this bottle cap hit that dog"? I was sitting slightly turned from him and ignored him. I did not think he would actually do it. Well, he did. He began flicking bottle caps at my dog who was laying peacefully! After the third one I turned around and said "excuse me? What are you doing?" He said "I wasn't trying to hit him don't worry I'd never do that" and quick ran inside like scared sheep. Didn't show his face after that. I could not believe what had happened. I think this bar is fine and everyone who works there is nice BESIDES THAT GUY. What the he11 is wrong with him? How rude can you be ? Who does that ? What a weirdo.

Ours had 2 bedrooms (queen bed in one and a full/twin bunk) in the other. The living area had a super comfy futon that you could pull out to sleep two more. A stocked kitchen and a nice bathroom with a shower that even my 6'6" husband could fit in. The outside had a great picnic area with chairs, grill and picnic table and we also had a clothes line. Each cabin has their own fire ring with benches. There are currently two docks and we fished off of both of them and caught blue gills, crappies, yellow perch. The fish were biting and that made my 7 and 11 year old boys very happy! The resort has a paddle boat and 2 kayaks and our cabin had 4 life jackets waiting for us. It was perfect. The lake is quiet (we were there during the week) and it got a bit busier over starting on friday but still, we were able to kayak in peace with out fear of being run over. We are already planning our vacation next year! The kids loved it and it was the perfect vacation for our family!
