As a State of Indiana employee, I attend Statehouse Market weekly but I can definitely get in a rut in terms of the vendors I choose. The Overgrown Pasture is a relative newbie, though they've been a fairly steady presence throughout this particular season. First off, they have a very cool truck. It's easily one of the more unique ones present and they've quickly become quite popular with that combination of a compelling presence and super friendly employees. I do believe the owner/co-owner was on the truck today and definitely makes you want to come back. They describe themselves as serving "farm fresh street cuisine." That's a great description. The menu was fairly simple with four major entrees - a Monte Cristo, a Pork Tenderloin, a Double Burger, and a Pulled Pork Cubano. They also offered half-pound sides of Mexican Street Corn and Kimchi Potato Salad. They also offered up some creative drink options. This really is just a fun vendor. While I usually go for burgers, I opted for the pork tenderloin. It's cajun roasted pork tenderloin, aged white cheddar, tomato jam, mayo, lettuce, tomato, on ciabatta. I requested it without the cheddar and that was not a problem. The price came in at $12 without a tip. They do take credit cards or cash. I'd be anxious to see how tenderloin connoisseurs feel about this one. It's certainly nowhere near a traditional tenderloin, though I liked it quite a bit. It was a little messier than expected and I hadn't grabbed napkins. The Cajun roasting made it feel lighter than I usually experience with tenderloin. It wasn't quite the best I've had, though I would definitely order it again. Sometimes, it seems like food trucks deliver much heavier food and this was a nice change of pace. The flavor combo was great. Part of me thinks I should go 4 stars, however, I really like the unique take on this sandwich and the flavor combo is a lot of fun. For me, that adds up to a 5-star when you add the terrific customer service. I really want to try the double burger. I might try the Pulled Pork Cubano. The Monte Cristo is outside my taste buds. The ordering process was a touch slow, though the food delivery was rather timely. On a hot day, that was nice. I couldn't find a lot about The Overgrown Pasture, though they do have a website and do seem to make appearances at a variety of events. They seem to be active on social media and I'm kind of surprised this is their first Yelp review. It looks like they regularly appear on the Kokomo and Whitestown areas - thus, my assumption is they are not based in Marion County. So, I'm definitely glad they come to Statehouse Market. I did see they will be at Gen Con in August. Overall, this was a terrific experience and I look forward to their return at Statehouse Market.

For some reason, I thought it was a vegan food truck, but it's not! Which is fine by me because I eat everything. Maybe I thought that because it has the word "karma" in the name. Anyway, I ordered a walking taco, thinking it would be hand-sized, but the walking taco is huge! They filled up a styrofoam container full of Frito corn chips, seasoned ground beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato, jalapeños and a huge scoop of sour cream. It was so big that I had to sit down to eat it. If a walking taco is so large that you must sit to consume it, does it cease to be a walking taco? This is an important question. The walking taco was very tasty, and I found myself eating it very fast because all of the elements were perfectly bite-sized and tasty. This is a scarfable meal. I also got a side of mac and cheese, because another reviewer said that it was delicious. And it was! I'm not sure which I liked better. I ate both at the same time. The person who took my order was so friendly and nice. He went above and beyond, and was probably the friendliest food truck person I've ever encountered! Good karma for that dude, for sure.
